The threshold - you should meet up with the tall masked Entity, Mike Meyers, or its shapeshift Walter White - close to where you first experience the colored balls. AFTER they move, backtrack just a bit. You'll see either, you can use you function control repeatedly until whatever that thing is, REMOVES HIS MASK and reveals the threshold. (That's a sight I would not want to see twice , in my life).
