Defeat Commander Zhalk
To get the best sword early game you need to Defeat Commander Zhalk in Nautiloid (this will also unlocks the "Devil's in the Details" achievement.

Follow the guide with some good tips to defeat Zhalk and get the sword:

Shadowheart does have command, as all Clerics have access to all cleric spells of a level that they can cast.. But you have to go into the spell book and give it to her.

Yeah having Shadowheart cast Command: Drop is by far the easiest way to get this sword. No combat necessary.

You can always simply have Shadowheart cast Command: Drop on Commander Zhalk instead. He has a low WIS score so it's pretty easy to get him to drop the weapon for your main guy to pick it up.
