Combine Worker
<:: Combine Workers are usually seen in areas involving the maintenance or construction of Combine technology or other infrastructure. Most of them wear dark green coveralls, fingerless gloves and short grey vests, with their legs caked in dirt. Their helmets and masks are identical to that of Hazmat Workers, however unlike these colleagues, they opt to leave the hood and filter on their vest collars detached while performing duties. Some Workers also wear orange coveralls and black vests with a fluorescent green Combine logo on the arm, and are only seen in zombified form ::>

<:: To achieve some of their tasks, Workers pilot a variant of the Strider known as the Construction Strider by riding atop a special platform affixed to the Synth's head. From this position, they can quickly traverse across the rooftops of City 17, carrying out duties such as transporting large electrical cables to plug into Combine machinery or using a mechanical arm on the platform to perform welding work. ::>
Combine Hazmat Worker
<:: Employed as cleanup crews and researchers, Hazmat Workers are stationed primarily in and around the Quarantine Zone to stem the infestation of alien flora and fauna from Xen. Most of them wear yellow hazmat suits, green neoprene heavy-duty gloves, black rubber boots, and helmets identical to that of Combine Workers. On the collar of their suits is a hood that could be pulled up to cover their heads, and a filter that is attached to the mouths of their masks. They carry black tanks on their backs that feed oxygen through a hose directly into a valve on the suits' left breast. There are also female Hazmat Workers who wear white hooded jumpsuits and blue boots, and are only seen in the zombified form. ::>
Civil Protection
<:: Civil Protection, also referred to as the Metro Police, is the Combine's oppressive human police force in all Combine-controlled urban areas on Earth, including City 17. Its officers are named "Metro Cops", while the spelling "Metrocops" is also used. "CPs" is mostly used by Citizens and Resistance members to refer to Metro Cops. The entity uses "Metropolice" (the original term), and the subtitles use "MetroPolice". The Overwatch Voice simply uses the term "Protection Teams". It is implied to be related to an organization referred to as the Combine Civil Authority, while the Ministry of Civil Protection is also mentioned. ::>

<:: Part of the Combine Overwatch, Civil Protection officers are ordinary human volunteers who have willingly joined the Combine, either for more privileges, such as additional and higher-quality food, better living conditions, an increase in authority and status over others, or out of genuine sympathy and identification with the Combine's aims. As such, they have not been subject to transhuman modification in any way, unlike other Overwatch units. Barney Calhoun is notable for having infiltrated the Combine by joining the Civil Protection ranks as an undercover Resistance member. ::>

Combine Soldiers
<:: Overwatch Soldiers, known as Combine Soldiers by Citizens, and Stabilization Teams by the Overwatch Voice, are the basic transhuman infantry units of the Combine Overwatch, and the primary military of the Combine on Earth. In contrast to Civil Protection, whose duties are to enforce order within suppressed population centers, Overwatch soldiers are tasked with more hazardous actions requiring skill and tactic: from patrolling the treacherous borders of Combine-controlled territory to raiding Resistance-held strongholds and neutralizing any form of threat to the Combine. ::>

<:: Being the Combine military personnel, Overwatch Soldiers are given access to military-grade equipment and trained (or, more accurately, programmed) with advanced tactical combat training, making them more formidable strong opponents. ::>

Combine Grunt
<:: The Combine Grunt, referred to as Echo One in Combine terminology, is a low-ranking transhuman soldier class of the Combine Overwatch introduced in Half-Life: Alyx. ::>

<:: While overall being the weakest Combine type, Grunts could pose a serious threat when encountered in numbers. They usually attack in teams of two or more and can maintain a crossfire on the player when spread out in a formation. They prefer to fire a few shots, then change positions while other units provide suppressing fire, either to get into cover or acquire better sight lines. When facing a covered player, they won't hesitate to use grenades or to flank them in order to flush the player out. When combating melee-based foes such as zombies, they will try and hold their position. If their target disappeared out of sight, they will usually sustain gunfire on their last known location for a period of time before resuming a scanning state. Despite being marked as their weak spot, the Grunts' helmets are actually surprisingly tough to Pistol rounds, but a strafe from the SMG or a tossed back grenade can easily kill them. ::>
Combine Heavy
<:: The Combine Charger, also called the Combine Heavy and referred to as Wallhammer in Combine terminology, is a specialized transhuman soldier class of the Combine Overwatch introduced in Half-Life: Alyx. ::>

<:: As their code name "Wallhammer" suggests, the Chargers' tactics comprise of both the "wall" which refers to their shield and the "hammer" which refers to their strategy of charging. Like Suppressors, Chargers act as "tanks", being able to dish out and receive high amounts of damage. They can easily kill a player who underestimates them and fails to use cover and the right weapons or tactics. However, while Suppressors hang back to provide covering fire, Chargers specialize in pushing forward to directly assault and put pressure on their enemy. The Heavy Shotgun is capable of removing a large chunk of the player's health in one shot, but its firing and reloading rates are low which, along with the Chargers' relatively slower responses, can be exploited to the player's advantage. When being attacked, Chargers will put up their shields while continuing their advance, and will often emit a flash when they see the player, so it is advised not to waste ammunition on the shield and stay behind cover. Despite the Chargers' heavy armor, they are highly vulnerable to attacks from grenades and the shotgun. However, their armor's shoulder pauldrons are bulletproof, so care should be taken when aiming for the head. ::>
Combine Suppressor
<:: Suppressors are similar to Combine Chargers in that they are very heavily armored; however, while Chargers attempt to get close to enemies, Suppressors stay at a distance and provide covering fire with the Pulse Minigun. Like Chargers, they are extremely hard to kill and can be a serious threat to an exposed or unready player. ::>

<:: When the Suppressor sees an enemy, they will begin to fire and will stop at nothing until their target is dead. They will stand their ground from a distance, occasionally relocating in case of grenades or other immediate threats. However, they are vulnerable when reloading, and for a couple seconds between minigun bursts. ::>

<:: Suppressors wear a very large flak jacket with the Combine logo on the left side of the chest. Their name comes from their strategy of keeping a target pinned ("suppressed") with their minigun while other soldiers (mainly Combine Grunts) flank them. ::>
Combine Ordinal
<:: Combine Ordinals are the commanding officers of the Overwatch Commando forces stationed within the Quarantine Zone, tasked with the protection and secrecy of The Vault. They have authority over other Combine forces and typically act as team or squad leaders in command, usually heading a squad of Combine Grunts alongside Combine Charger or Combine Suppressor units for support. ::>
Combine Elite
<:: The Overwatch Elite are specialized, higher-ranking Overwatch Soldiers. Sporting a distinctive white uniform and helmet with a single red lens, the Elite are the deadliest of the Combine Overwatch infantry. ::>

<:: The Overwatch Elite visually differ from other Overwatch units, as they are equipped with a white heavy body armor, with thick armor platings and a larger neck guard which increases protection. They wear black jackboots instead of combat boots, with their shin guard extending upwards. Their helmets designs are also drastically different from those of regular soldiers, as it has a single-eyed circular lens for visual. They are always armed with the Overwatch Standard Issue Pulse Rifle, and have access to alternative ammunition and container for the weapon's Energy Ball alt-fire that they use efficiently against hard or large groups of enemies. Elites are very tough and more durable than other Overwatch troops, achieving marksmanship accuracy with their weapons. ::>
