The current leg movement design relies solely on timers without using any scripting support, operating only with the three variables of rotor speed, angle, and torque.
As for achieving smooth motion, I personally draw inspiration by studying works like Gundam and Armored Core. After all, whether it's about aesthetics or movement, Space Engineers is ultimately just a design tool—it really comes down to careful observation.
Another approach would be using scripts, which would undoubtedly produce much smoother motion and offer far greater control over variables compared to timers. However, no one has developed such scripts yet.

In summary, the space mecha (a-62, d-83, a-36) have a smooth leg joint movement which I would like to recreate, but I am unaware of how to do so.

But if the CTC settings are correct, it should be fine (I guess)
I still have an A31 in my Workshop that uses vanilla CTC for weapon control – not sure if it's still usable.
