Introduction
The campaigns in Gladius are an interesting addition to the standard 4X formula. They can often be a source of frustration rather than enjoyment due to large amounts of hostile forces attacking you. There’s nothing quite like losing a long game just as you were on the cusp of victory because of an event time limit or a massive invasion force.

There are three main campaign mission types:

Explore.
Produce.
Battle.

During Explore and Produce missions, it’s frequently possible to put your campaign progress on hold while you deal with AI enemy factions or build up your forces, but you rarely know what the campaign will ask of you next.

In this guide, we’ll take a quick look at the Adepta Sororitas campaign chapters to make it easier for you to decide when to march forward through the campaign and when to hold back.

As with all quests, you can choose to do this after your game ends in a normal victory if you don't want to risk also being attacked by another player.

If this guide helped you, please remember to rate it up so that it can help others too!

Chapter 1 - The Book of Vandire

Produce

This is a simple objective which you'll have done in no time.

Battle & Produce

This will be an invasion style even with about 4 squads of Ork Boyz. It shouldn't be anything too taxing for you. Work on getting that Canoness built ASAP. This will move us on to Chapter 2.
Chapter 2 - Threefold Betrayal

Battle

Here we'll simply be fighting a small group of Astra Militarum consisting of 3 Hydras, 1 Heavy Weapon Team, and 1 Guardsmen squad. There will be several more events like this coming up, each with increased difficulty.

Battle

Another invasion style event. This time, we'll be fighting Adeptus Mechanicus units, consisting of Serberys Sulphurhounds and a Kastelan Robot.

Produce

We just need to activate Sacred Rites to proceed to the final step of Chapter 2. You probably already have some researched, but if not, now is the time to do it. If you need to pause the campaign progress here, now is a good time to do it, if you can avoid using all 3 Rites.

Battle

Another enemy camp that needs to be destroyed. This one consists of 2 Scout Bikers, 1 Scout squad, 1 Assault Space Marine squad, and 1 Land Speeder. Once they are dead, Chapter 3 will begin with an immediate invasion event. You may want to make sure you have some units near your cities to fill some defensive roles.
Chapter 3 - The Wings of Justice

Battle & Produce

We'll begin with an instant invasion whether we're ready or not. Hopefully you've got some units that can defend your cities. Units you can expect while you're fighting them off and building your Saint Celestine: Chaos Space Marines, Khorne Beserkers, and Havocs. Be careful here if you won't be immediately ready for another battle. Once you kill all the units and produce your Saint, another enemy camp will spawn. This time, they'll have more than 4-5 units as well.

Battle

Another enemy camp to deal with here. In my game, I had to fight a Chaos Lord, 3 Maulerfiends, 3 Helbrutes, 2 Dark Disciples, 1 Khorne Beserker, 1 Chaos Space Marine, and 1 Cultist squad.

Produce

Having 3 cities is likely something you'll already have at this point. Either way, if you haven't already, begin increasing the Loyalty of your main city, as we'll need it for the next quest step.

Produce

Pumping up the loyalty shouldn't be very hard, and you may already have the needed amount. The next part of Chapter 4 is mostly Production, so feel free to press on.
Chapter 4 - The Path of the Penitent

Produce

This shouldn't be very hard at all, in fact you may already have an Exorcist and a level 7 Saint. The next step will involve some combat, but it shouldn't pose any danger to you. I will say now that you should already be focused on getting a lot of high tier units for Chapters 5 & 6. If you aren't, or haven't, you may want to delay here a bit to buy some time.

This couldn't possibly be a trap, right? I had 1 Biovore, 1 Exocrine, 1 Venomthropes, and 1 Hive Guard at one point, and 3 Umbras at the other point. Make sure you take enough firepower to take out the trash. Anyway, this is a simple and straightforward Chapter. Proceed through it quickly as long as you're producing high tier units. If you aren't yet, you'll want to delay as much as possible, because from Chapter 5 onward is a significant difficulty jump as it is for many other factions.
Chapter 5 - The Defiler's Legacy

Battle

Now we have a Necron invasion event to survive. Do you ever get the feeling that people just don't want you around? This time, we'll be dealing with Scarabs, Flayed Ones, Heavy Destroyers, Annihilation Barges, Triarch Praetorians, and Monoliths. The total number of units killed was 20+. Be careful proceeding forward from here, the next step spawns a bunch of Necron units all at once, and it only gets worse from here.

Battle

This is a full on enemy camp attack. There were about 25 units in my game, and these consisted of high tier units. Doom Scythes, Monoliths, Doomsday Arks, Obelisks, and other nasty things. Considering that they're all grouped up, you may be able to get an advantage here with first strikes or overwatch kills to break large amounts of Morale. Once you wrap this battle up, you'll instantly start Chapter 6 which is a battle with Eldar.
Chapter 6 - The Ultimate Sacrifice

Battle

So...Eldar. Hopefully your units are near your base and you've got some heavy hitters such as Paragon Warsuits and Cerastis Knight-Lancers. From here on out, depending on the terrain and your setup, you may just be fighting for your life until the end of Chapter 6. Expect Wraithknights and Scorpions in the initial group of Eldar you have to fight. Keep in mind that the final part of Chapter 6 will involve protecting the Webway Gate that you must move your Saint next to. Be sure you have enough forces next to it in order to protect it.

Battle

This will involve simply holding out against an Invasion style event. The main difference is that they'll be coming for the Webway Gate. You must keep this alive while farming XP from the units coming to kill it. At this stage of the game, you'll be fighting Chaos units again instead of Eldar, so shift your tactics accordingly. Expect any and every type of mid-late game Chaos unit. This probably goes without saying, but the more you can group your units up for the kills, the quicker you'll accumulate the needed 200XP.

Also, as a nice little bit of bonus fun, you can expect a random Lord of Skulls to deal with. In my game, he spawned far away from any other units. If he manages to break the morale on your units, it can be a situation that is very much less than ideal. Exercise caution, plan your moves, and in no time..

Congratulations!!

That's great to hear. I'm glad it worked for you.

Seemed to be a bug since I beat it when I reloaded the save with much less difficulty.

@Freedum-chan Man, that does sound strange, but it's been so long since I've played it, that I don't remember how it worked for me. Maybe someone who has done it recently can weigh in.

I expected the very last quest to end when 200xp are reached but it didn't. Lost the game while having 2000/200 exp with much higher number of neutral enemy invasion spawns than usual. Wonder if it was a bug or not.

@mala I'm glad you made it through. I felt this quest was also fairly challenging, but I probably just need to refine my playstyle for the Sisters some more. Take care!

@Insane Thanks for the reply. I just finished the campaign and I felt that 3 was not enough during the last push as I was surrounded by 3 sides. Altough I'd say that's on me cause I let them be strong.

1 main cities and 3 were the number I completed the campaign and the last city was more like a repair depot than an actual city as it was near the very end and I didn't have time to build all the buildings but to grab the adjacent tiles.

So far this was the hardest campaign I think as I was constantly struggling with keeping up with the unit production.

@mala I usually stop at 3. I find it can be helpful mid-game to make a front-line city just to get units up front faster to fight.
mala 24 Jul, 2024 @ 10:50am
How many cities are the ideal for the sisters? Should I stop at 3? Thanks
Insane  [author] 27 Aug, 2023 @ 10:23am
I think any XP should count. It doesn't have to be XP from the camp as far as I recall.
Brain 27 Aug, 2023 @ 4:28am
I'm stuck on 178xp, because the camp spawned in the middle of my ally's territory and I didn't have any units nearby. By the time I got there, he'd taken care of most of them. Will any more enemy camps spawn or do I have to start the game from scratch?
