is what i would like to say but unfortunately he has some actually useful properties.


first of all! he sells useless junk except for his silly little workshop and the funny flying boots that you instantly turn into a more useful item

second of al..... reforges baby!!!!!! this man can change the prefix of your gear...... what a wordsmith........ and instnatly change its properties and stats! wow!!!

now, you might be thinking: this sounds awfully convenient. and it sure is! however, there is a catch, a catch you will become all too familiar with

i mean like look at those prices

and you do not have to pay just the ONCE. no, no, that would be far too simple. you see, the modifiers are random! RANDOM! and so, you will find yourself clicking that reforge button.... over and over.... as he drains every last bit of copper, silver, gold and platinum you worked so hard for farmed king slime for

and not only this! he can give you BAD modifiers! so if you run out of gold, you might be left with nothing but salt and isopropyl alcohol to pour into your wounds and sob.

thankfully, there is something we can do about it. lawyer up and buckle in for a wild ride!!!



the stinkerer, by default, extorts you for about a third of how much it'd cost you to buy the item. pretty bad. this also increases the more you reforge the same item. however!!!!!!

if you use the Discount Card, you can reduce this by a whole 20%!!! thats no joke mind you!!! overtime that reduction will add up significantly and you will FEEL it. trust me. you can get this bad boy from pirate invasions, though at a pretty low drop rate....... so get to lava farming <3

on top of this! as much as we do not like to make the stinky fraudulent smeller happy under any circumstances.... getting in his good books and making him happy does seem to reduce his extortionate, money laundering tendencies. so increasing his happiness may be a necessary sacrifice. acceptable casualties, if you will.

reforging items with bad prefixes also tends to be cheaper, though this one is admittedly far less useful. i think broken reduces it the most but im not 100% on that..... im still a trusted source probably dw about it


when combining all of these effects, you can reduce the price of an item by almost 90%!!! as seen here. what revenge!! he is seething and coping as we speak. he is making puppy dog eyes and bargains he definitely cannot follow through with. what a stinky loser nerd

plus! if you play with the calamity mod, you can simply use the bandit npc to refund you and delight in robbing him back. or simply use mods to nerf his sadism through decreased randomness and reduced costs! wow!!!! what a joy it is to watch his every hope and dream topple and fall like a poorly stacked extortionate jenga tower.

alternatively use this on him (but dont tell my parents i told you to, ill get grounded)
