ArmA2 Make Multiplayer Matchmaking Working

How to make ArmA2 matchmaking work again, it is a simple, fast and effective way, the most important thing is that you see the servers again when you open the multiplayer, obviously for this to happen whoever raises a server has to follow this guide, while more people do it better, especially those who raise a server.

"What is explained in this guide works for Armed Assault (ArmA1), for ArmA2 Standalone, ArmA2 (all versions that have Gamespy)"

make this modification, it does not bring any problem or incompatibility, it does not affect anything, it just makes the matchmaking work again, in this case it goes from gamespy to openspy, as it is edited with a hex editor and they are the same number of characters the file remains as if it was never modified.

You can download the files already ready with the matchmaking or you can follow the entire guide and do it yourself, once you have downloaded the files you only need to replace them.

1 - You need a Hex editor, in my case I use HxD which is free and portable, you can download it from this link HxD Hex Editor[mh-nexus.de]

2 - You must make a backup or copy of the ArmA2.exe file that is in the game installation folder, simply to restore it for whatever reason you want to return to the original without modification.

(If you have a dedicated server you do the same with the file ArmA2Server.exe)


3 - Open HxD

4 - Click on File, click Open

5 - Search and Open the ArmA2.exe file with HxD

6 - Now you see this

7 - Click on Search, click Replace

8 - in the search window: in search for: write gamespy.com
in replace with: write openspy.net, in search direction you click "All"
Finally click on Replace All

9 - If everything went well you will see this message, then accept and close HxD.

10 - open the game and click on multiplayer

11 - Now you can see the matchmaking working, obviously there has to be someone hosting a server having this modification done.

You have the ports closed on your router, open ports 2302 to 2305 and they will be able to join the game.

it could be fun if you could host superpower, i often when play it put it in matchmaking list, though i have ports closed, to make some people think that there are servers in matchmaking :D

if those who host do not follow the guide... you will not see any there, the more people follow the guide and those who host, they will be there
I had a server for several days but no one entered so I removed it.
