Jetty Boot Consistency Guide
By Plushu ♡
Whether you're having trouble just getting through the first few pipes, or if you're wanting to demolish some friend's score(s) that they plagued all over your arcade machine, I really hope this short-ish guide helps you.

Intro / My Own Experience
Hello! A while ago I have achieved a score of 1,899, and I've gone around ~1,100 points without losing a single life in that same run. More often than not I hear "jeez I can't even pass [some random score]" or "you're using mods / cheats / trained AI" or people asking for tips, so I want to share my general strategies so other people can become better at this silly lil' minigame too, as concisely as I can with minor demonstrations to back it up.

Keep in mind that there is no Jetty Boot achievement, any overachieving is simply for bragging rights and to impress your friends. The only thing stopping you from getting extremely high scores is not giving a crap. Jetty Boot is an extremely lenient version of Flappy Bird and it's easy to pull decent scores once you get a good grasp on things.

With that being said, please leave all of your questions, experiences, and negative or positive feedback about the guide in the comments and I can respond to them if necessary. If this guide motivates you to improve at the minigame then I consider that a win in my book.

Settings to Adjust [1]
Playing at an FOV (field of view) at the lowest setting of 80 makes it so that you can view a lot more of the arcade screen and see your more precise inputs.
You can adjust your field of view by pausing (pressing Esc or Start -> Options -> Gameplay -> Field of View.
If you want less/more FoV than what the game allows you, the most accessible option would be for you to install the More FoV mod. It's labeled as "outdated" but still works 99% of the time for Season 5. https://mod.io/g/drg/m/more-fov

My score literally tripled in a few attempts after I found this out for myself as it was at a record of ~600 beforehand. Comparisons between 80 FOV and 120 FOV are in the screenshots.

Settings to Adjust [2]
Jetty Boot can make DRG's input lag issues quite noticeable sometimes (more like most of the time), even while uncapped or at 60 FPS. It's not necessary in the slightest to achieve a great score, but there's a Steam thread to reduce input lag greatly that has at least worked for me with no performance cost (on Linux/Steam Deck) that I strongly recommend checking out and seeing if it works for your PC:

Gameplay Loop [1]
Most of this will either be "obvious" or not obvious, but I think it's nice to put into words what you're doing for each wall you go through, instead of generally tapping with no strategy and hoping you go through the pipe each time.

It is recommended to be doing two to three taps per pipe. One time to adjust yourself, another time to get over the pipe, and an optional third tap in case only doing two will lead you to die while going through the pipe.
Generally that a third tap is not necessary in most cases once you get better but you'll develop a better game sense and muscle memory over time. Keep in mind that Jetty Boot allows you to hold the button, so there's no need to button mash to get to higher elevations.

Adjust the bottom of the boot with the bottom of the light green part of every pipe, like in the screenshot. It can be far from perfect, as long as you aren't too close to the wall while doing so. Once you get yourself lined up, it's important get the muscle memory down of how long you need to press. They should generally should be short, but not too short--otherwise, you'll die at the right edge of the pipe when going through.
Once you get through the next pipe, what you do is up to you, as long as you're still adjusting your boot where the light green part is, but I like to dip lower than where the light green part is and tap once to adjust myself onto it.

Great, now do that a thousand more times and you got the hang of this game. But wait... there's still more.

Gameplay Loop [2]
These high-to-low transitions are the most difficult set of pipes & they make you extremely prone to mistakes, especially if you aren't used to the boot's velocity.

It's important to keep in mind that the boot falls faster than it levitates, so you really want to nail the timing while plummeting, otherwise you'll just hit the ground. Once you get through those high up pipes, it's good practice to tap as lightly as possible when going through the low pipes to avoid getting hit by the the top wall, like in the GIF (75% speed).

Once you get past that, it's back to everything I said in Gameplay Loop [1] again.
Extra Stuff
  • Jetty Boot NEVER scales in difficulty past level 2, you could theoretically go on forever.

  • If you have a low FOV, you can move your highscore off the screen if you feel like you pay too much attention to the top of the screen or if you're getting nervous or shaky every time you get close to your highscore. You can do it with a normal or high FOV too but the game would be too high up the screen & would make it look a bit awkward.

  • You can mute the constant character noises in settings, or mute the game entirely in exchange for your own music that helps you focus. I listened to this on loop while doing my high score.
How does it all look like in action?
I have raw footage of a 1,149 score published here. Jetty Boot isn't the most exciting minigame in the world so there's absolutely no need to watch it all. Feel free to skip around at your leisure.

Sheesh it's been a whole year since I made this ;; I got bored of grinding the minigame since getting into the 1000s takes forever, but I hope I could help people get better regardless!
Nothing big to report but I updated the guide with a link to the More FoV mod for people who aren't aware it exists, pretty useful for Jetty Boot. Happy score hunting!

WARNING! Carry on reading! Or you will die, even if you only looked at the word warning! Once there was a little boy called Joey, he was ten-years-old and he lived in a mental hospital because he posted a shitty copypasta onto a People Playground mod's comment section. He got so bad he went to kill all the staff in the hospital so the Feds decided that best idea was to get rid of him so they set up a special room to kill him, as inhumane as possible. And he sat there in agony for hours until he died. Now every week on the day of his death he returns to the person that reads this letter, on a monday night at 12:00 a.m. He creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by pegging you and watching you bleed to death. Now send this to ten other profiles on this one site, and he will haunt someone else who doesn't. This isn't fake. apparently if u copy and paste this to ten comments in the next ten minutes nothing will happen

Gone from a 207 the weekend before reading this to a 314 immediately after. 10/10 would internalise again.

Thank you--I got no idea what you mean by the voice in my head, but I'm hoping the grey matter in my brain isn't speaking back to me

Lit guide. You did an awesome job on this. I also like the voice in your head that speaks letters.

I'm gonna go now and ruin all my friends jetty boots leaderboards in the coming week.
