INTRO

This is the error I'm talking about.

To make Battlefield 3 work again we will be using the old Origin launcher patched with a .dll file to skip the message (shown below) forcing us to switch to the EA App.

1) UNISTALL

Make sure to unistall the EA App and any version of Origin you may have installed.

2) INSTALLING ORIGIN

Go to this link[download.dm.origin.com] and click the .exe file that will be downloaded automatically.

Continue to install origin normally and close the launcher when the sign in or register window pops up.

3) PATCHING ORIGIN

Now we'll download an automatic patcher that will install the .dll file mentioned above.

Go to this link[pastebin.com] and copy the github link in your web browser. The .exe will download automatically

Open the .exe file and this window will appear. Select the folder where Origin is installed and make sure you check the box "Pretend EA App is installed".

Then click install and the Origin launcher will be patched.

4) PLAYING THE GAME

After these simple steps everything should be in order. Sign in with your EA account in Origin and make sure you have both Origin and Steam open to play the game.

Just click play on Steam. This will open Battlelog in your default web browser. Select any gamemode or server and Battlefield 3 should launch.

If you get kicked from a multiplayer server you must check one of the guides regarding Punkbuster.

@Tumekkondrio Im assuming this still works in Sep 2024, by just using the EA app?

So I tried playing this again and looks like they patched everything. EA App works as it should.

They actually did release a new version of it, version 3 as far as my knowledge goes. Seems like while EA tried to patch the patch out of Origin, they didn't do it properly at all. Always go for Release v3 is possible. Seriously, EA hates the consumer for even daring to defy their orders to use EA App.

Yeah, it worked for a few days. Aug.4 I bought it and played it. Now even though it shows I own it in EA app/Origin. It asks for a purchase key. After punkbuster updated it also said I was not online.... clearly I was.

I got Dragon Age Origins installed on EA App. Will I still be able to play it after doing this patch even though EA App will get uninstalled?

You can still play other games. I've played Battlefield 4 and Battlefront 2 with no problems.

So to play this ONE game we must uninstall the EA app (that allows us access to all the new EA games) just to go back to a patched Origin just for BF3?

I'll pass...........in time I imagine this game will go the way of AVP2, and CRYSIS WARS and will just have all of its own stuff to launch and play whenever.

now when i start bf3 it never joins the server
