can anyone give me tips on how i can improve his design? I cant figure out how to make him follow me

Are the wheels wired? Each side needs to be wired to the gate on the same side. These particular gates are the largest can-shaped ones behind the hula doll. Also good to check if the target finder is actually finding a target and if the wheels are strong enough to push the machine.
