The Quartered combat jacket is the overall best outer garment in the game, offering advantages when it comes to charisma checks and blunt defense. This makes it worth obtaining as early as possible to make the most of all the benefits.

The villager wearing it will start at Rovna and run along the road to the left, next to the river. He always follows the outlined route. In case you miss him before you reach the quarry, reload the autosave and try again.


You can't catch up with him on foot as you are already wounded, the easiest way will be to kill him from horseback with your sword. You should dismount on top of him when he is dead, which will minimize time spent walking around. The Cumans shoot slow and don't aim well, you will be able to loot everything and get back on the horse in time to escape.


Getting the item this way will mark it as stolen. However, the stolen marker will be gone by the time you finish the prologue.


There are a few other ways of getting this item. There is a very low chance for it to spawn on traders in random encounters, which you can steal from their bodies. The Talmberg chamberlain and the shop guard at the Rattay weaponsmith both wear it, but they are stored in hard level chests. If you don't want to steal, haven't leveled your lockpicking or the drunk perk, you can get it legitimately from Treasure map XXIII which has no lock.
