Hello, we played the base game without buying the DLC with my friend, then we bought it and it won't let us access it, does it have to do with the fact that we have already started a game before buying it?

You have to restore those virtues in front of the stick hero statue then talk to your local blacksmith. The rest I'll leave you to figure out and good luck.

im playing on ps5. finished these dlc areas. got the armot. the sword, the twisted virtues, and finished the innovent questline but idk what to do next

The secret boss in this DLC is really annoying to find. The condition is that the armor and sword be reforged and returned to the old man, who would know this?

I think I messed up, i remember the innocent going through the floor and that's it, why did the dlc have to include this bloody questline when I didnt know what the hell i was doing, I had no idea who the innocent was till now

You need to complete the Innocent questline otherwise those shards can't be used.

I wrote about how to get to the DLC secret boss but if you missed doing that questline then those shards are unusable.

I've claimed the 2 boss shards from these places, just unsure on where to go next

As we can see the boss is in the same room as original final boss, maybe it has trigger conditions as a replacement of final boss?
