Taxi from the future. Phenomenal Soviet concept from the 1960s

This taxi was ahead of its time by at least two decades. Ultra-modern design for the mid-1960s, a revolutionary one-volume layout, incredible spaciousness in the cabin and a lot of progressive features like an electric door drive. And how do you like anti-covid driver protection, invented almost 60 years ago?



The most interesting thing is that it was not a concept car or a mock-up, but a fully working prototype that was tested on real Moscow routes and withstood them with honor. But VNIITE-PT did not get into the production of taxis, remaining only an example of what the USSR auto industry could become. And it is also the most daring and famous project of the artist, designer and visionary Yuri Aronovich Dolmatovsky - and the only one of his creations that has survived to this day.
