JNR KiHa 55 series

Beskrivelse
The Kiha 55 series is a semi-express DMU of the Japanese National Railways that was introduced in 1956. Designed for long-distance semi-fast trains, it uses the structure of Series 10 lightweight coaches to achieve a body that is larger and lighter than that of the Kiha 10 series. Starting with the "Nikko" semi-express train connecting Tokyo and Nikko, Tochigi, they were used in semi-express and express trains on non-electrified lines throughout Japan. A total of 486 cars were built, including Kiha 55 with two DMH17 engines, Kiha 26 with one engine, KiRoHa 25 in 2nd/3rd class (later 1st/2nd class), and KiRo 25 in 2nd class (later 1st class). Early models have standee windows, while later models have a single windows.
