Training
This should be the first thing you do to get to grips with the game and its controls. Most of the in-game fight achievements can not be gained in Training.

During Tutorial, you can follow the steps to perform basic moves. Fatality Tutorial takes you through how to perform a finishing move. There are also free Practice and Tag Team Practice modes. The achievements that can be gained in Training are:

License to Kill

Complete Fatality Trainer

Go to training pick fatality trainer pick any one and do there fatality

A For Effort

Complete Tutorial Mode

To obtain this achievement is fairly simple, just go through 15 different tutorials showing you the ropes of the game. They are as follow:
Tutorial 1: You will learn how to move (does this really need to be in the game?).
Tutorial 2: You will face your first opponent, except you can't attack, (lame I know) just let him hit you a few times and tutorial 2 will be successful.
Tutorial 3: You will finally learn to attack and block
Tutorial 4: You will learn combos
Tutorial 5: You will learn different variations of throws
Tutorial 6: This is your second fight (except you get to attack this time (woot))
you are also however, given tasks you must complete in the bottom right hand corner, complete those first, and finally finish your opponent off.
Tutorial 7: You will learn special moves (finally starting to get exciting)
Tutorial 8: You will learn the reflecting moves with Nightwolf
Tutorial 9: You will learn the invisibility technique with reptile, though there is a catch, you MUST stay invisible for 6 seconds (this can get annoying as you will get hit when you have almost completed the 6 seconds)
Tutorial 10: You will learn about the Super Meter
Tutorial 11: You will learn how to pull of breakers (this can be tricky to learn and get the hang of, but don't give up!)
Tutorial 12: You will get to learn the SICK X-Ray attacks, finally, VERY EXCITING!
Tutorial 13: You will learn all the different variations of Tags (can also be tricky to learn and get the hang of)
Tutorial 14: You will learn more complicated variations of Tags
Tutorial 15: (last one!) You will be pitted against your final fight, yes, again you must complete tasks in the right hand corner, once finished, the tutorial will end
Story Mode
This should be the first mode you complete as it will unlock two of the hidden fighters needed for some of the other achievements.
Battle your way through various bouts over 16 Chapters as the story of Mortal Kombat unfolds. The achievements that can be gained in Story Mode are:

Halfway There!

Complete Story Mode 50%

***Warning if you do not want to know ANYTHING about the Story Mode do not read this Solution. I will be providing exact details of the roles you will assume over story mode and who you will fight. I am providing these exact details to give people an idea of where this unlocks if they are curious***

Now that is out of the way, again this is just to give you an idea for your progression. There are a total of 16 Chapters starting with Johnny Cage and ending with Raiden. You will face various challenges throughout facing teams of two and the ever annoying Shao Khan at times. When you assume the role of Kitana (which I believe is Chapter 9.....I was playing very late last night so I need to double check this) after the very first fight you have against Smoke and Cage you will be halfway done with the story and your achievement will unlock during the cut scene.

***Quick Tip AGAIN SPOILERS in bound*****

When fighting Shao Khan as Kang, this fight for me was extremely difficult. Somethings that can help are: In The Main Menu you can go to gameplay settings and lower the Story Mode difficulty, wait for Shao Khan to taunt and do the Flying Kick (Back, Forward, Y) I believe it is then back off....Rinse and Repeat.....and avoid the hammer he throws blocking wont help as it will still stun you and leave you open for a brutal attack and he is still brutal on the lower difficulties combo wise.

FINAL BATTLE STRATEGY - Raiden vs. Shao Kahn

For most players the story mode will have occasionally difficult battles, but not insurmountable with patience and maybe a bit of luck - until the final battle with Shao Kahn. You cannot luck or spam your way through this one without a strategy. Many players have suggested a distance strategy (reactive approach) but after playing and losing many times, I FOUND A PROACTIVE STRATEGY THAT WORKS BETTER.

To defeat Shao Kahn, you MUST have fast proficiency with Raiden's teleport move (Down, Up) - regardless of whether you use a close or distant strategy. Teleporting will drop you on the other side of Shao Kahn. A teleport should generally only be followed by one of two things: an uppercut (if you have the advantage), or another teleport (if you must dodge).

When scoring a knockdown, your natural instinct may be to fall back and get out of the way (i.e, the distance strategy). If you do this, he is still in control - you will have to try to anticipate and respond to his moves. His ranged behaviors will be random, possibly a dash, hammer, spear, or approach.

When scoring a knockdown, ignore your instincts and APPROACH Shao Kahn as he gets up. By doing so, you are creating a PREDICTABLE RESPONSE and TAKING CONTROL of the fight. He will nearly always try to attack you immediately when getting up. He is is vulnerable from behind when attacking. When he attacks, immediately teleport to dodge and uppercut him from behind (easier to pull off than a combo and ends in a knockdown). Then immediately approach again to repeat the process. Once you get the timing down you can make quick work of him.

A few other tips:
- When the match starts, he will often try to land an early attack. An immediate teleport is usually the best strategy.
- If you find yourself at ranged distance, wait for a projectile attack or taunt and immediately teleport and uppercut. At this point, he is knocked down so you can switch to the close approach strategy I detailed above.
- Avoid jumping, this usually just opens you up for attack. Teleport instead.
- When teleporting, if you sense that your timing is off, immediately teleport again to dodge the inevitable blow.

Cold Fusion

Unlock Hidden Fighter "Cyber Sub-Zero

In Story Mode, Chapter 13, you will be playing as Kabal and your final fight for the chapter will be against Cyber Sub-Zero. After you beat him, you will unlock him as a playable character for all modes.

To ease the fight, you can spam

Buzz Saw (Back, Back, A) for ground coverage
and/or
Gas Blast (Back, Back, X) for air coverage

Doing this, Cyber Sub-Zero shouldn't be able to get close but if he does, just uppercut and the match and achievement is yours.

Quan-Tease

Unlock Hidden Fighter "Quan Chi"

Refer to the Back In Time... achievement
Acade/Tag Team Ladder
Arcade Ladder is the classic Mortal Kombat arcade mode where you battle through various opponents until you reach the final boss. This game also includes Tag Team Ladder where you can make the fights two on two (or two on one for boss fights). You must complete Arcade Ladder with every character as well as performing their fatality, throws, and X-Ray so try to do as many of these as possible when completing it. Completing Arcade Ladder also unlocks their alternate costume. The achievements that can be gained in Arcade/Tag Team Ladder are:

Robots Rule!

Win Arcade Tag Ladder with robot Sektor and Cyrax

Basically just win the ten tag ladder matches as ROBOT Sektor and Cyrax, making sure to perform at least one tag combo (which can be found in the moves list in the pause menu)

What Does This Button Do??

Complete Arcade Ladder without blocking (allowed to continue)

A very easy achievement. Put it on beginner, one round (thanks ninja) and choose Noob Saibot. He is just way too good and a very easy character to use. All you have to do is ( down, forward a ) which sends your shadow running and will tackle your opponent and then press ( down, up ) and you will teleport to your opponent and slam him into the ground. I pretty much just used those two combined with my x-ray and i won every match with ease. You can even throw in ( down, right, x ) and shoot your little electrical ball at your enemy just to mix things up a bit. All you have to remember is to never block an attack. Feel free to use RT (block) for moves/fatalities but dont actually block an attack.

if you do die just hit continue and try again.

Ladder Master

Complete Arcade Ladder on max difficulty without using a continue

**All credit to RA1NKING from the X360A.org boards.**

Change the settings to 1 Round, 60 seconds. Start up A Tag Ladder.
Choose Sheeva and Noob Saibot (In that order!)
Pick Expert difficulty.

1 Round for obvious reasons, and 60 seconds instead of 30 because you want some breathing room in case the opponent starts getting in your ass early in the fight.

During every match spam Sheeva's DOWN, UP (D, U) Jump Stomp attack. You can usually land it 75-80% of the time and it does decent damage. Also if your lucky the opponent gets stuck and you can just spam it over and over without them ever getting up! (Unless you take too long)

(*OPTIONAL*)During events where you mess up and accidentally just jump try to hit Y afterwards to throw a overhead punch that usually lands and bounces the opponent off the ground leaving them open for a uppercut.

In events where Sheeva is taken out and Noob is thrown into the fray use his DOWN, FORWARD+A attack. This attack has some range and will bring down the opponents health pretty well blocking or not.

This may take a few tries but is almost guaranteed to work.

Where's The Arcade?

Complete Arcade Ladder with Any Fighter

You can get this achievement along with "Robots Rule," "Tag You're It," and "What Does This Button Do???" all in the same go.

Basically just win the ten tag ladder matches as Sektor and Cyrax, making sure to perform at least one tag combo (which can be found in the moves list in the pause menu) and if you're going for "What does this Button Do?" you cannot block once during all ten matches, although you can continues many times as necessary. It can be done on easy as well.

The last three are the "boss" fights of Goro, Shang Tsung, and finally Shao Khan.

Arcade Champion

Complete Arcade Ladder with All Fighters

Fastest way to this achievement:

- First of all, like noted below, you have to complete the Story Mode so you can unlock both Cyber Sub-Zero (chapter 13) and Quan Chi (after completing chapter 16).
- Set the difficulty to Beginner and rounds to ONE.
- Choose TAG LADDER and
- Pick two fighters

BOTH fighters count for this achievement, and thus you cut your time in half for this achievement. It takes roughly 5-6 minutes to get through the ladder on Beginner, and by getting TWO fighters through the ladder at a time, it really makes this less of a grind.

After finishing the ladder with your tag team, it will then show the cut scene of the FIRST fighter you chose but don't worry. They will both register as having beat the arcade ladder (you can even check the Nekropolis to verify)

Hide and Seek

Discover and fight Hidden Kombatant 2 in Arcade Ladder

Sometimes when playing arcade ladder, you can see Classic Smoke pop up behind a tree in the living forest stage. If you do, quickly press the "BACK" button (the button left to the guide button) and you will fight against him immediately and unlock this achievement.
He is pretty tough to beat by the way, at least it was for me.

Edit: To be clear, you do not have to press down, just "BACK"! Other guides are wrong about that. :P

Pit Master

Discover and fight Hidden Kombatant 3 in Arcade Ladder

This achievement is "Pit Master" - "Discover and fight Hidden Kombatant 3 in Arcade Ladder" for facing Klassic Reptile in the Ladder mode. What you have to do is play on The Pit (The night-time version, with the moon) and get a double flawless and finish the match with a stage fatality. Aaand you have to see Santa or the Witch fly across the screen in front of the moon.

To make things easier I'd suggest playing on Beginner and constantly quit to main menu and start a new ladder until the first fight is on The Pit. Then, wait a few seconds, up to ten I'd say, to see if either shadow flies across, they don't appear immediately. If they don't, hit start and go to player select and pick your character again. It will load the same fight on the same level. This should also work if you mess up getting flawless. Make sure to keep the rounds set to 2, if you change it to 1 it will not work! (credit to swordfischer for confirming this)

You don't need to beat him, the achievement unlocks at the beginning of the fight. Which is good because this version of Reptile has Sub-Zero's freeze powers and Scorpion's spear in addition to his regular acidy move-set. But it is worth it to try, I lost the first round and got 1000 koins, then got 5000 for each of the next two I won, for a total of 11,000!

Brotherhood of Shadow

Discover and fight Hidden Kombatant 4 in Arcade Ladder

This achievement is "Brotherhood of Shadow" - "Discover and fight Hidden Kombatant 4 in Arcade Ladder" for facing (secret) Noob Saibot in the Ladder mode. What you have to do is play on The Temple level, recognizable because of the MK Dragon shaped window in the background, and hope you see Noob standing on the altar in the near background. Then you have to win without blocking.

To make things easier I'd suggest playing on Beginner and constantly quit to main menu and start a new ladder until the first fight is on The Temple. Then, if you don't see Noob, hit start and go to player select and pick your character again. It will load the same fight on the same level. If you accidentally block this method should work as well.

You don't need to beat him, the achievement unlocks at the beginning of the fight.
Acade/Tag Team Ladder Part 2

You Found Me!

Discover and fight Hidden Kombatant 1 in Arcade Ladder

So you've made it to Shang Tsung, probably already lost some rounds by now, and you know how to make it back to the Player Select screen. And maybe, if you are like me, it shows that you've already lost 4 rounds. If that sounds like you, try selecting Mustard.... I mean Cyrax.

After about 5 attempts I got the double flawless with him. At the very beginning of the match, go for a Fwd Jump Punch, more than likely you'll jump over Tsung attempting to do a move. Attack him from the back with Y, Y. After that proceed to get into a rhythm of Fwd Jump Punch, Y, Y (The last Y will make his Saw come out). I found that it helps if you do the punch later in the jump.
As for the Fatality, I just used his default one at Touching Distance...I think it's hard to mess up at touching distance, but personally, sweeping distance is not my friend.

Anyways, I hope this method helps you all. It also works slightly on Jade, you may need to throw in a few other tricks against her though. For losing a round you get 1000, for winning a round you get 500
Challenge Tower
One of the most time consuming achievements is making your way up the Challenge Tower which requires you to beat 300 Challenges put before you. These range from defeating your opponent using only special moves to the screen being turned upside down. There are also various "Test Your..." rounds where you must put your Sight, Might and Strike skills to good use. The achievements that can be gained in Challenge Tower are:

Tower Apprentice

Complete 25 Tower missions

What you have to do is go to challenge tower and complete the first 25 missions out of 300. You dont have to face any hard challenges while going for this they are very easy if you know how to play the game

Tower Master

Complete all Tower missions

on level 300 start out like GeorgieVaz said above. pick sub-zero and spam the Y,Y,Y, combo, and freeze. now if your anything like me, you've failed a-lot on this level. you lose a lot of health on goro press start and retry. now this is where i'm going to tell you to STOP!!!

no matter how bad you're losing do not retry in the middle of the match. sounds stupid i know.
after 5 losses you notice after every win, you gain a little health back. almost so little you can miss it.

after about 10 losses, you gain 1/2 your health back after a win, & goro doesn't turn invulnerable before every attack or at all anymore. also by this point they aren't beating you down to the point that you can't move.

after 15 losses, by now i was making it to shaokahn every try. goro is a push over kintaro just jump Y,Y,Y, freeze repeat. for mileena a found dropping the freeze all together & dashing forward Y,Y,Y worked well, the same for shaokahn. (jumping over hammers as needed)

These Aren't My Glasses!

Complete all Test Your Sight mini-game challenges

For this Achievement you need to complete All of the Test Your Sight mini-games in the Challenge Tower. They are the following challenges: 12, 42, 72, 102, 132, 162, 192, 222, 246 & 270. It's a game of follow the ball under any number of chalice / skulls, it's rather easy and if you mess-up just hit start and Retry.

Dim Mak!

Complete all Test Your Strike mini-game challenges

You'll encounter Test Your Strike challenges in the Challenge Tower, which can be accessed from the main menu. The final Test Your Strike challenge that you have to beat for the achievement is challenge #168 in the Challenge Tower.

Test Your Strike works basically the same way as Test Your Might, only a lot more precision is required. You have to press the A, B, X and Y button to increase the red meter (Might). There will be an area marked on the bar, and it will say "(Left trigger symbol) (Right trigger symbol) Break" to the right. In Test Your Might, you only have to get the Might into the marked area. In Test Your Strike, you must get the Might between the two arrows that are within the marked area. Once you hit the "Sweet spot" between the two arrows, the Might turns from red to green. From here, you can wait for the time to run out, or you can press the LT or RT to immediately finish the mini-game.

I've found that the best way to do this is to mash all four action buttons (A, B, X, Y) until the Might has risen above the marked area. From there, I only start mashing one or two buttons, letting the Might slowly start sinking down until it reaches the sweet spot, at which point I keep it there until the time runs out. You can press the LT or RT to instantly deliver your attack, and end the mini-game, but I don't recommend this. In that split second that it takes you to hit the LT or RT, it's very easy for the Might to slip out of the sweet spot, especially in the later challenges. Additionally, I find that the mini-game is a little more forgiving once you've reached the sweet spot; it'll allow the Might to go a little below the arrows, or a little above.

I "Might" Be the Strongest

Complete all Test Your Might mini-game challenges

To get this achievement you must complete challenges 6, 36, 66, 96, 126, 156, 186, 198, 216, 228, 240, 252, 264, 276, 288, and 294.

I suggest for the more difficult ones, is to grab the shirt you have on and put the meat under your right thumb on the outside (the side of the shirt people can see) and place the four buttons of the controller on the inside of the shirt (the side of the shirt that faces your body) and move your hand left and right as fast as you can. When the bar is at the correct height pull the left trigger down and you should pass it.
Challenge Tower Part 2

Best...Alternate...Ever!

Unlock Mileena's 3rd Alternate Costume

For this one, you have to GET PAST challenge 300: Endgame. You can skip it for 50,000 koins if you wish, but you're going to need to beat it at some point anyway, so here goes:

The character you choose is entirely up to you. As you may know, Stryker is my preferred character, and since the majority of his attacks are ranged, he's one of the most useful characters for this challenge. However, if you're really good with someone else, then use them as you please.

In this order, you fight Goro, Kintaro, Mileena, and eventually Shao Kahn himself, ALL ON A SINGLE LIFE BAR. This is far from easy since 3 of the 4 enemies have "armor," meaning you can still damage them, but 1/2 the time it doesn't interupt their attacks. To make things worse, your opponent will either be buffed (extra damage or regeneration) or you'll be debuffed (lower damage or no blocking). The kicker is that if you beat one of the opponents while he/she is buffed (or you are debuffed), you'll gain about 15% of your health bar back.

The first of your opponents is Goro, and I hate this mostly because he has armor on WAY too often. The trick to him is to stay mobile, his ground-based attacks have TONS of range. When he jumps forward to do a ground pound, jump AT him and kick him; you'll miss his attack and you can follow up with an uppercut. Alternately, he LOVES to jump at you, and rarely does his ranged attack, so if you have a ranged move that aims higher (Liu Kang's high fireball or Strykers low grenade, for example), you can consistently knock him flat on his ass.

Kintaro is next, and he's WAY too easy. You'll want to keep your distance to avoid his fire attacks, but when he jumps up into the air, quickly dodge and follow up. This is easy because when he misses his ground stomp move, you have a good 2 seconds to wail on him. This is where a good combo (I like Right + Y, Left + Y, then B, Down + Forward B with Stryker = about 20% damage) can really make a difference. If you don't know good combos, just consistently dodge his stomp (jumping works better than dashing IMO) and uppercut him.

Mileena is your third opponent, and probably the hardest. She doesn't have armor, but does consistently have damage increase (from my experience, anyway) and this will be where the AI hits you with an X-Ray. DONT let that happen. She loves to do the roll attack or teleport dropkick, so block a lot or do moves that keep you, well, on the move. Expect to lose a lot of health here if you aren't careful.

And lastly is the big guy himself: Shao Kahn. You've probably fought him several times in the game, and he's no different here in terms of tactics: except one difference: YOUR ATTACKS ARE HYSTERICALLY WEAK (something like 33% weaker). Just keep your distance, and wail on him when he taunts you. One trick is try NOT to block, and instead crouch under his ranged attacks. This is because his hammer toss will stun you if you're blocking, but will completely miss if your ducking. Pounding him with constant ranged attacks (like Stryker's gun) does interupt all his attacks but the hammer toss, so be ready for that.

Other than all that, practice your combos and you should be fine. It's hard, but if you're good enough, you should be able to make it through.

UPDATE - Beat it. Shao Kahn is a bastard, but if you CONSTANTLY spam Stryker's gun (Left, Right, X) move, it's WAY too easy. Also, combine it with your RT move (X-Rays are borderline useless against him) and consistly use it. 8/10 times you'll interrupt his spear move, and the only move you have to worry about is the hammer toss.

Normally, you can duck under it, but it seems that he throws it a little lower in this instance, so JUMPING over it is the best choice. Not just because you can avoid it, but you get hit mid jump, you DONT get stunned.

UPDATE 2 - When I tried to do this again to capture it on film (which I did, see link), I noticed it was WAY harder than last time, in terms of damage caused, frequency of armor on enemies, and health gained. It took me a while to figure it out, but just like in classic Mortal Kombat, once the computer starts kicking your ass, eventually it tones down the challenge a smidgeon. I had to retry about 10 times or so for it to get to this stage of "ease."
Online
Take your character online and fight against other players. Ranked and Player matches are here and the new King of the Hill mode where other users can watch your match and rank you on how you did. The achievements that can be gained online are:

Tough Guy!

Win an Online Match

One of the many easy online achievements. Pretty much just go online and fight someone and win. This will come eventually since youre going to have to win a lot more for the other achievements.

If youre struggling with this achievement just get a friend and work on all the online win achievements together.

Cyber Challenger

Complete 100 Online Matches

This is pretty simple, and doesn't need much of a guide, but I'm going to tell you what counts and what doesn't.

Win 100 games that you have played over Xbox Live.

Ranked online counts.
Any player matches count.
It can be either 1v1 or Tag or King of the Hill.
Local games do not appear to count.
Disconects do not appear to count.

Wavenet...

Win 100 total Online Matches

The general strategy to get this achievement is to win 100 online matches. It doesn't matter if it's Ranked, Player or KotH matches, wins on all of those modes count toward the achievement.

On a related note, any wins that you get by virtue of the opponent disconnecting or exiting the game before you can pull off your fatality (AKA rage-quitting) do not count towards the achievement. Be very persistent when you're going after Wavenet, as there will be quite a few rage-quitters online.

Humiliation

Get a Flawless Victory in an Online Match

In a normal match, a very simple way to do this is with Cyrax. He's a very cheap character.

At the start of the round, immediately press Right Right B+R (or Left Left B+R if you are on the left side of the screen). When this attack hits, wait until they are about halfway down, and do it again. Then when they are about at upper chest level with cyrax, press Y, X, Y. This will net you a 7 hit combo, dealing 32%.

For the rest of the match, jump backwards in the air and teleport, do Back + Y, and when they are at upper chest level do Y, X, Y. Rinse and repeat until they are dead.

Outstanding!

Win 10 Ranked Online Matches in a row

Ultimate Respect!

Earn 2500 Respect Points via king of the hill matches

Pretty Simple, no different from getting 1,000RP, set up a King of the Hill match; input "Sans Power Kode"

Player 1, Y 4 times, B 4 times
Player 2, X 4 times, Y 4 times

for 1 Punch Rounds then just give 10's no matter what, seems too go a little faster when theres about 5 people otherwise the servers seem too kick people alot...

You Will Learn Respect!

Earn 1000 Respect Points via king of the hill matches

Set up a King of the Hill match as the cheev states; you can make this cheev attainable quicker by using "Sans Power Kode"

Player 1, Y 4 times, B 4 times
Player 2, X 4 times, Y 4 times

for 1 Punch Rounds & then just give 10's no matter what, it seems too work better if you only have about 5 players otherwise the servers seem too kick people alot...

Don't Jump!

Win A Ranked Online Match without jumping

The method I used to get this achievement was as Sub-Zero use his slide attack (<-, ->, B) when your opponent is far away from you or when he is not ducking and blocking or when they are about to use a range attack as they are vulnerable. When you are close to them use the Y-Y-Y combo. If they are duck-blocking then they will be sent flying giving you another chance to use your slide attack. Rinse and repeat until they are dead. If you have enough time and they are not blocking, throw and Ice ball at them to freeze them and then use your slide or enhanced slide attack (<-,->, B + RT) to do more damage. You can throw in your own combos if you think that you can do more damage aswell. This will take practice but you will eventually get the hang of it and get the achievement.

I'm Not Dead Yet!

Comeback with under 10% health in an Online Ranked Match

You need to win one round in a ranked game where you have 10% at the same time that your opponent has as close, if not exactly, 100% health. Seems to be big debate on the internet as to the exact percentage, I can confirm that if your opponent is at 50% when you reach 10%, and you then succeed in killing him, you will NOT get this achievement.

Best way to boost it is to get into a ranked game, and send a PM to the person you're playing against. With much luck, that person will want to boost the achievement with you. At the moment this seems to be the only viable method of boosting, as matchmaking with someone you know in ranked games is next to impossible. Both of you can get the achievement in a single ranked game, you only need to win the round this way, not the match.

There Can Be Only One!

Win 10 king of the hill matches in a row

Easy to boost with one or more friends.

Just create a private match in King of The Hill and invite your friends in it. After that just take turns and win 10 match in a row.

2 things to specify.

Creating a room is not the same thing as to create a player match. A room is for chatting and challenging anyone in it.

Someone who disconnect give you a win but it DOESN'T count toward the 10. If you got kick out of the room because of this you will have to pick up from where you where and not from 0 thankfully.

As a side not, since you are in this mode boosting might as well give the winner a note of 10 to work toward the 2 other achievment that ask for a certain player rating.

Throws Are For Champs

Perform 8 throws in an Online Ranked Match

Best way to get this in my opinion is to choose Raiden. Using the teleport move (down, up) will traverse you to the opposite side of your opponent quickly allowing you to press RB to attempt a grapple throw move. I would suggest doing this in a tag match to maxamize throw opportunities. If you can net 7 throws by the end of the match the Finish Him/Her finale will allow to get one more easy throw which will help to unlock this achievement.

Turtle!

Win both rounds with timer running out in an Online Ranked Match

Ok how i did this! I started searching for a Ranked 1vs1 match. once i got paired up i private messaged my opponent asking if i could win rounds 1 and 3 with the timer running out! In return i would let them win the second round however they wanted.

Best thing for everyone is if they get the Throws are for Champs (perform 8 throws in a Ranked Match) and I'm Not Dead (Comeback with Under 10% health in a Ranked Match) if they dont have them. From Experience most will let you if they need 1 or both of these achievements. Only time they wont is if they are on a good run for the 10 Ranked Wins in a Row achievement or are just not interested or boosters.

Use this method in reverse if you are after I'm Not Dead or Throws are for Champs. Suggest you win 1st Round and for those and then let your opponent get Turtle!
Krypt/Nekropolis
The Krypt is where you use Koins to spend on various items such as sketches, set designs, new fatalities, and alternate costumes. The achievements that can be gained here are:

Undertaker

Unlock 50% of the Krypt

This Achievement is unlocked by purchasing unlock ables in the Krypt. These range from 800+ Koins and up. Simply beating the story mode alone should give you enough to purchase 50% of the Krypt.

Also there are 4 secret Krypts in each sector of the field. Each of these reward you with 5000 Koins. They are marked by some green bugs crawling across the ground. You can hear them when you get near. Open Map and close when they are near and it should unlock the secret krypt. Each of these are about 1.2% completion.

Deadlands: In between DL52 and the Mausoleum.
Hallow of Infestation: Along the back wall. About 6 skulls in. Look and listen for the bugs.
Bloodmarsh: Right of BM81 under the skull on the wall.
Meadow of Despair: Near the back left of the farthest Iron Maiden on top of a small mound.

The Krypt Keeper

Unlock 100% of the Krypt

In order to complete the Krypt you need about 294,000 koins and unlock 299 treasures but there are 303. If you complete story and challenge ladder you can obtain about 300,000 coins. Also, there are four hidden treasures in the krypt as hinted above. They are...

"In the Deadlands, go to DL52. Between that headstone and the building to the right, you'll see some green bugs moving around on the ground. Back up a little bit. Go to your map, press B. SE1 should pop up. Lightning will hit the ground then claim SE1.

For the one in Hollow of Infestation. Go all the way to the left corner of the map. Then, go to the 6th face on the wall. Press Y to go to the map, then B. SE2 should pop up, the mouth will open and claim your treasure.

For the one in Bloodmarsh. Go all the way to the right corner of the map. Then go to the 5th spot (which would be the 4th face on the wall) Go to your map, press B and SE3 should pop up. The mouth should open, and there's SE3.

For the one in Meadow of Dispair. Go to the stairs of Nekropolis. Staying as far up as the game will let you, go right until you see a group of 4 rocks. About the middle of the stairs and the rocks, again go to your map. Press B and SE4 should pop up. Lightning will hit the ground and then claim your treasure."

If you obtain these treasures, you'll nab yourself 20,000 koins in total and you do not need to buy four treasures as the hidden treasures are counted toward the achievement.

You've Got Style!

One way of getting all the alternates costumes is playing the arcade latter or buying them in the Krypt. Once you beat the ladder, you will unlock an item/key that unlocks the characters alternate costume in the Nekropolis. If you play tag ladder you will ONLY unlock the 1st chosen character alternate costume but you will unlock both endings.
*Note: Cyber Sub-Zero does NOT have an alternate costume.
You do NOT need Mileena's 3rd Costume (Flesh Pit)

Here's a list of where you can buy the costumes in the Krypt.

Miscellaneous
There are achievements that are earned just by fighting and performing specific moves. They can be gained in any mode where you do battle, except Training. My Kung Fu Is Stronger is one of the most time consuming achievements ever seen as you must spend 24 hours fight as each character.

There Will Be Blood!

Spill 10000 pints of blood

This is an easy one. It just comes from playing the game. I completed the ladder once and then did story mode. Mine popped with the last fight as cyber sub-zero when you face your brother noob saibot. Dont even worry about this achievement because you dont have to do anything special to do it. just play the game and it will pop.

Fatality!

Perform a Fatality!

This link has the most updated guide for now. It list all the fatalitys and the distance requirement. If you need explanation with one feel free to ask me and I will find out.

Block This!

Perform a 10-hit combo with any fighter

Easiest fighter to use to get this achievement is Sonya Blade. You can wait until you play as her during the story mode, during challenge number 4 in the tower, during a practice session, or you can jump right into a two player

During a two player fight you can enter the infinite combo meter code (466-466) or in practice you can adjust the settings to have your combo meter full. Once your special meter bar on the bottom of the screen is flashing "X" you can use your special X-ray combo (which I think are a great new addition to the game.)

Stand close to your opponent, make sure they aren't blocking, and tap both left and right triggers simultaneously. You will pull off Sonya's x-ray combo which think is eleven hits total. Achievement done.

The Grappler

Perform every fighter's forward and backwards throws

Each character has two throws. Fwd+RB, and RB (while standing still).

Just perform these using every characters in Arcade Ladder.

The best way to get this is to set arcade ladder to beginner, one round. Go for it the same time as "fatalities with every character", "x-rays with every character" and "complete arcade ladder with every character" to save time - 4 achievements will pop when you are on your last runthrough.

Complete story mode first though to unlock Quan-chi and Cyber Sub-Zero.

The Competitor

Complete 200 Versus matches (online OR offline)

To make things faster, you can do it offline with 2 controllers and by using this trick. Set the round to 1 and the timer to 30 seconds in the Options.

Select 2 fighters (any). Start the fight. At the loading screen, input this Kombat Kode using both controllers X, Y and B buttons: 044-440 (that's MK coin-?-? ?-?-MK coin). This will enable Sans Power mode. 1 hit and you can Finish Him/Her the other fighter. Either do the fatality/babality/stage fatality or press A, B, X or Y to quickly end the match. Rinse and repeat 199 times. Don't forget to reenter the code each time you restart the match. Each match should last ~5-10 seconds if you quickly skip the intro and use the Kombat Kode so you can get the 200 Versus matches very fast.

Finish What You Start!

Perform a Fatality with all playable fighters

You only have to do one fatality per fighter, so using the fatalities in each character's "Move List" should net you this achievement. It must've been some HORRIBLE glitch, but this achievement didn't unlock for me until I performed the last fatality possible and the only one I hadn't performed (Quan Chi's Stage Fatality). All fighters have 2 Fatalities, 1 Stage Fatality and 1 Babality, so I've listed them all for us MK fans that want to see all the humor and all the gore!

Here is how you can perform the finishing moves:
- Fatalities can be done in Fatality Trainer, Arcade, Versus or Online.
- A Babality cannot be performed in Fatality Trainer.
- A Stage Fatality cannot be performed on Fatality Trainer.
- Stage Fatalities work on Living Forest, Pit, Hell, Street, Deadpool and Subway.
The Stage Fatalities can be done quicker by using a 2nd controller and going to Versus mode. At the character selection screen, hit the Y-button to choose a stage that a Stage Fatality can be performed on.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that while you can perform fatalities in Fatality Trainer, they will not count toward the achievement. In this case, the Fatality Trainer is for just that: training. BABALITIES DO NOT COUNT EITHER!

Here is a link where you can find all playable fighters Fatality's
https://www.trmk.org/games/mortal_kombat_9/moves

Tag, You're It!

Perform and land a Tag Combo

I used Scorpion and Baraka for this, but if you have Scorpion then anyone else will work as the second fighter, all you have to do is use Scorpion's spear (<--, <--, X), then when your opponent is dazed quickly tag your partner and hit your dazed enemy.

e-X-cellent!

Successfully land every playable fighter's X-Ray attack

What you first need to do is beat the story to unlock the two hidden fighters Quan Chi and Cyber Sub Zero so if you have beaten the story you probably have done the xrays for the sixteen characters you play as which are
1.Johnny Cage (Has to be done while getting hit)
2.Sonya Blade
3.Scorpion
4.Cyrax
5.Lui Kang
6.Jax
7.Smoke
8.Sub Zero
9.Kitana
10.Jade
11.Kung Lao
12.Stryker
13.Kabal
14.Cyber Sub Zero (Has to be done in the air)
15.Nightwolf
16.Raiden
So other than those 16 characters that you probably have already used the xrays for, you have to use it for the remaining 11 characters
1.Barraka
2.Ermac
3.Kano
4.Mileena
5.Noob Saibot
6.Quan Chi
7.Reptile
8.Shang Tsung
9.Sheeva
10.Sindel
11.Sektor
Happy Hunting
Edit: If you are not sure what characters you have used the xray for then just go to the Nekropolis and check STATS on the players to see there stats

My Kung Fu Is Strong

Gain Mastery of 1 Fighter

Requirements to become Mastery of a Fighter include:

100 Wins / Victories
150 X-Ray
100 ~alities (Any form of finishing move)
10,000 Pints of Blood Spilled
24 hours play time with that char

For this achievement, you only need 1 Character to get all these stats.

You can check the progress in the Nekropolis in the Krypt (Which unlocks after purchasing 10-15 tombs). After unlocking it, you can access it right from the menu without going to the Krypt. Once in the Nekropolis, select your character and choose the View Stats option to see your progress.

Some shortcuts to speed up the progress include:

24 hour playtime: Plug in a Wired controller, go into Team Battle Training, and select 2 chars you want to gain time with. Go to sleep / work / outside, come back and the timer will keep on running. Cheap, but effective.

All the stats carry over from Online / Offline modes (so 20 wins online with Scorpion + 80 Arcade wins will unlock that portion of the achievement). The only mode that doesnt count towards these achievements is the Tutorials (including Fatality Tutorial) and the Tower Challenge (Wins don't count, everything else counts though).
Miscellaneous Part 2

My Kung Fu Is Stronger

Gain Mastery of All Fighters

For Victories and Fatalities, go to options and set it to 1 round. Plug in a second controller and play 2 player versus. At the loading screen input the following kombat kode 044-440 for sans power. With 1 punch it goes to FINISH HIM, making the 100 victories and finishers go by way fast. The biggest pain is having to input the code every match. Find the easiest fatality/stage fate/babality to do to make life simpler.

For X-Rays, go to options and set the rounds to 3. This time play 2 player tag match. At the loading screen input the following kombat kode 466-466 for unlimited super meter. This allows you to get 6-8 X-Rays per round, 18-24 per match. You'll have 150 in no time. Again having to input the code every match is a pain, but that's why you do 3 rounds instead of 2, so you have to do it less often.

For the 24 hours of play time, go to practice -> tag team practice. Choose 2 characters and leave your pc on while you go to sleep/work/out. *Be sure your controller is wired or is connected via a charging device. If the controller turns off, practice mode will go to the pause menu and not count the time.

The 10,000 pints of blood spilled will be acquired as you work toward mastering the other statistical aspects.

Luck Be A Lady

Get all MK Dragons in Test Your Luck

This achievement is based on luck. No skill is required to get it.

Go into the Test Your Luck in the Fight section and select any fighter you wish. When the fight is getting prepared youll see a slot machine with 4 cases. The first one is youre opponent so do not worry about this one. You need to get 3 golden dragon coins in the next 3 (wich are for the random modifier for the fight like Headless or no special). If you see that you get something that is not a golden coin just press start and select retry and do it again. As soon as the 3 coins pop so is the achievement so no need to actually do the fight.

I do not think the sex of the character or how often you use it will matter. Got the achievement with Jade when i never actually played her and got also 3 coins with Scorpion who i have more than 3 hours of gameplay with at the moment i wrote this.

Complet-ality

Perform 1 of each type of "-ality"

Complet-ality - Perform 1 of each type of " ality"

Babality:
Sub-Zero - Down, Back, Down, B in jumping distance
Scorpion - Down, Back, Forward, Down, Y in jumping distance

Fatality:
Sub-Zero - Have An Ice Day – Back, Forward, Down, Forward, B while in sweeping distance
Scorpion - Nether Gates – Back, Forward, Back, A when touching your opponent.

Stage Fatality:
Sub-Zero - Forward, Down, Back, Y at close range.
Scorpion – Forward, Up, Up, X at close range *press X after landing jump*
(Confirmed working on "The Pit" Full Moon & "Subway" Trains at closest possible range)

In the main menu options/gameplay, you can change the timer to 30 seconds, rounds to 1 and difficulty to beginner to make it faster. Play 1-player ladder until you get the map you need, or you can do the fatalities in 2-player versus and change the map with Y before selecting a character. After you've done the Finish Moves once they will appear in the Move List.

I found that if you go through training and the earlier Kombat challenges, this is 2/3rd's done for you.

Link below has a list of every character's finishing move.
https://www.trmk.org/games/mortal_kombat_9/moves

Finish Him?

Perform any fighter's hidden finishing move

This Achievement is called "Finish Him?" & the description says "Perform any fighter's hidden finishing move." I obtained this by performing Cyrax's Babality: from a jump distance away from the opponent, press Down, Forward, Back, Y (default button config of course!) Enjoy!

Ultimate Humiliation

Perform every fighter's hidden finishing move

Just remember when going for achievo with two controlers (ANY MODE-I did it 2players-versus mode-two vs two!! BESIDES -TRAINING DOSENT COUNT), remember to sign in the second profile. Not only presing start and playing the game. I did all the caracters babalitys and nothing, had to do all over again with singed in second profile-Achievo.

For faster progres use cheat code (dosent afect achievo)-ONE HIT KILL, while game loads up you will see 6 simbols on square field in midle of the screen. Now first controler preses four times Y and four times B button. Second controler preses four times Y button and four times X button.
Conclusion
This is a very time consuming fighting game as you must spend at least 24 hours with each character and performing all their moves numerous times. The achievement list is for hardcore fighting and true completionists only. Saying that, the game is a LOT of fun and has one of the best Story Modes in any fighting game ever.
