River Boat
Upsides for you:
Light

Downsides:
Can kinda hurt in number against a new person

Neither yet Both:
Decent speed
Patrol Boats
Upsides:
Weak
Easy to deal with
Won't live long if you hurt them a little

Downsides:
Basically a better riverboat
Better guns that a riverboat
Stronger in numbers

Neither of them:
Fast - ish speed
Type A Landing Boat
Upsides:
Weak
Only mainly found on raids on you

Downsides:
Will focus on landing and raiding your base rather than fight you

Neither Of Them:
Medium - ish speed
Destroyers
Upsides:
If you shoot from a distance and dodge it's a easier to deal with
Slow speed
You can outmaneuver it easily
You don't need tons of rockets to knock it down
Can't make sudden moves
Can't dodge torpedoes well
Weak to torpedoes

Downsides:
A pain
Heavy Cannons - Max range (it feels like it at least)
Getting too close can get you shred up really fast and/or get you killed
I think it always comes in groups with other boats
You'll need heavy firepower to take them down

Neither of them:
None

TIP: EXPECT A CHALLENGE

How To Defeat:
Heavy torpedo (usually only a couple) and artillery spam should kill it and don't even THINK of trying to take it down with guns. YOU. WILL. DIE.
Coastal Tanker
Upsides:
Drops a TON of RP when destroyed (I think 1,000 if you collect it all)
Slow
You can outmaneuver it easily
Can't Make Sudden Moves
Can't really dodge torpedoes easily

Downsides:
Light Cannon
Has a couple of shreddy guns at close range
Usually comes in packs with other boats

Neither of Them:
None?
WE ARE GOING TO ENTER THE PLANE ZONE (READ THE DESCRIPTION)
IN THE EVENT YOU KILL A PLANE, IT WILL KAMIKAZE YOU AND TRY TO HIT YOU. GO TOWARDS IT WHILE IT'S TRYING TO KAMIKAZE YOU
Zero Plane
Upsides:
Unless your late in the cam - pain or on a hard mode or something these aren't really seen
Not SUPER hard but a little
Will take a little bit of time to strafe you

Downsides:
These can be strong planes, don't underestimate them
Can mow down your crew health if you let them
Are constantly getting out of your range
You can only use your guns on it

Neither of them:
None (I think)
Heavy Zeros
Upsides:
Take a while to turn for a strafe
Slow - ish for a plane?

Downsides:
Strong
Heavier guns

Neither of them:
None?
Elite Zero Planes
These "Elite" Zero Pains... I mean planes are actually that bad but you will most likely need squadrons of other boat to help shoot them down

Upsides:
The plane is still weak... somewhat
Only really appears later on when your stronger

Downsides:
Has a LOT of guns and WILL shred you in one or 2 strafe runs
There will be a decent amount of them per attack on a place that's roughly 30 - 40
FAST

Neither of Them:
None
Ki - 45
Upsides:
Slow - ish for a plane

Downsides:
Has a heavy cannon
And I quote from me, "Did that thing just make an illegal U - Turn?"
Strong

Neither Of Them:
None?
D3A Dive Bombers
Upsides:
Weak and easy to kill with big guns
Won't usually kamikaze you when they die
If a group of planes is sent after you and it's these planes, it usually have many of these planes

Downsides:
Big ships will get bombed and destroyed by these dive bombers
Tips:
1.: The strongest armor has a 10% ammo bonus

2.: Give EVERYONE a helmet because it's lightweight armor that's 10 armor points

3.: Make things as close to it's target as possible

4.: If you want to dodge cannon fire (the ones that make that red circle) then I suggest zigzagging (the shots aim for where your going to be so if it's shot is going to be in front of you then change your direction so you'll dodge it)
IMPORTANT: HOW TO USE THE ARTILLERY AND TORPEDOES
B Key: Torpedoes and depth charges

V Key: (Only if you have a mortar or anti - tank gun) Controls the front (or back for one boat) gun (minus the auto - cannon)

(you can also press escape then controls and then change key binds to check your key binds if this doesn't work)

ALSO HONORABLE MENTION WHO HELPED SOME PEOPLE IN THE COMMENTS:

Rockets - the only way I know for sure that they work is to press V to go to bow view. In the 3D view you will see a red line comming from each rocket launcher toward where it wil hit. Look at the HUD Radar for the hit-circle. The small rockets have a fixed firing range and you will have to maneuver the boat to put the circle over the target. The bigger toob-fired rockets can have the distance aimed and a very small bit latterally (I think) using the mouse. LMB fires.

Speach:

"Deptcharges simply drop off the boat and take about 2 - 3 seconds to sink to sub-depth and explode. Submurged submarines are visable on the HUD Radar. When you are fairly close to a submerged submarine you can see a disturbance on the surface of the water. When you are nearly on top of the submerged submarine you can see the submarine below the water.
Maneuver to drive above the sub, in the same direction, go to flank speed to get just ahead of the sub and drop a depthcharge (LMB and RMB for the rear DC on that dise, Z or C for center DCs and Q or E for front DCs) )so that the depthcharge sinks to where the sub will be in about 2 to 3 seconds - remember to keep moving ahead or turn off to the side and not be above the depthcharget when it explodes. To fire torpedoes (and drop depthcharges), press B to enter torpedo/depthcharge mode - you then see to your available torpedoes and depthcharges on the left and right sides of the display. Torpedoes show two or four sets of red parellel lines coming from near the left and right sides of the boat and going over the water, which are used to aim. Use the boat steearing to put the aiming lines on the target. When on-target the (+) below the aimed tropedo icon on the left or right side will brighten, indicating how accurate your aim is. Leading a moving target is not taken into account. Do not forget to use space to zoom in and while holding space use the scrole wheel to use and zoom your binoculars. Holding Q or E for about a second (safety mechanism to prevent accidentaly firing) fires the front torpedo on that side, Z and C for the center torpedoes."

Speech:

"I ought to chime in: While in rocket or weapon mode, holding in the shift key will zoom in for an easier time for aiming at mid-close targets, but using the mouse wheel while zoomed in will bring up the binoculars which comes with a couple different magnification modes, making long range targeting much easier. I say this because I only just now found out about the binoculars, as the initial tutorial doesn't cover their usage, and as a result I've been mostly firing by eye and the mildly inaccurate radar map for mortar shots and throwing hail-mary shots with the rockets like a blundering squid. AH WELL, THEM'S THE BREAKS."
Resupply
(If you are out of supplies, torpedoes, or rockets)

You can resupply at a dock at one of your bases by getting in the base range to resupply even if you don't press any buttons on the side you will still get resupplied as long as you are in the little blue circle near the base. Or you can get resupplied during a raid or anything as long as there's an Allied resupply boat in the fleet by staying in the green circle of an Allied resupply boat (it doesn't instantly resupply you like the base does but it still resupplies you).
Light Minesweeper
Upsides:
Slow - ish
Only has a light cannon

Downsides:
Has a cannon
has a lot of guns

Neither:
None?

For acoustic torpedos they work as they do irl. It's in the word acoustics. They target sound traveling towards the nearest noise picked up in the cone in front of them. This is why there are noisemaker torpedos that "scream" underwater to redirect them but this game doesn't have them

Yes however idk which one to put it on
hmm.boy 3 jan, 2024 @ 18:29
are the Assault vest/bandolier worth putting on or should i just use the armored vest for all crew? if they are wort having who do i put them on, gunner or loader?
Magoo  [skapare] 23 dec, 2023 @ 8:11
Just Launch it close to the target and it should head towards the target however it will only track them if there moving (I'd assume)
MANPAD 22 dec, 2023 @ 18:55
Does anyone know how acoustic torpedoes work? My only experience with them is in World of Warships and there you send out a ping so the torpedoes know where to home in on. I guess I could experiment with them but I'd really like to know how to use them, both in general and effectively.
