So I have seen many people ask the same questions over and over and just like my other two guides on the game I try to answer the confusion. Now the other times it was on a certain part of the game but this would be more general.

You can buy the van near the Pawn Shop as some of you know. However you can only buy it later in the game roughly around the time you can enter the 2nd street with the 200's.

Now, when trying to find an answer it took me a while but I found a developer named Peter answering this question. He answered "Look for small sand areas near roads, there should be some grey bricks there" and "Around greenview in places like in the screenshot". So basically he said in greenview areas look for grey bricks in the sand.

Basically, you throw it at a window hitting "E" assuming you are on PC if not probably something like X (Xbox) or Square (PlayStation) or something along the lines of that. However, the cops usually are called majority of the time you throw it. I am pretty sure it is that you have more time to get away from the cops when you throw it and also to test if somebody's home.

Basically in the video when you hover over a part most would be red and one would be green dismantle the green parts and then there'll be a new green part. If there is screws on the part remove them. I don't think you can remove every part but you can dismantle most of them. When done sell the parts and the car at The Junk Yard.

There are several ways for you to save your game in Thief Simulator but here is three basic ways of saving your game.

1. You can rest/sleep in your base
2. When you exit the car/van
3. When you buy or sell something

There are other ways to save your game and also make the game auto save; however, these are just three examples.

Once you beat the entire game you unlock freestyle.

So, you may have an item that says "BlackBay" and then a star beside it. Similar to the image below:


This is because if you go into BlackBay you can sell the item. Now, it may also require you having several of that item to sell when you get later in the game. Some items you can only sell by BlackBay, and some you can sell anywhere, at the Pawnshop/Junkyard or BlackBay. If you are able to sell by BlackBay you often get way more money for the item.

Half of the stuff mentioned was from my own experiments and the other half was done by Steam User: Sgt. Kelp. Because there was people asking a very similar question and he answered it with his experiments.

Doors and Windows

So, if you open a window or door and keep it open the Tenants will notice if they see it.
If the window is broken by a hole or with a crowbar they will notice if they see it.
If you close a previously locked door or window and they use it they will notice.

How to make sure they wont know:
You have to re-lock the window or door. Also, make sure they wont notice broken windows. Or make sure it's a door/window they wont see/use.

Noise, Sight and Drawers

If they see you out a window from a distance it go to yellow, orange and red very fast.
If you are close to the window or in front of them it instantly becomes red.
If you are in front of all the tenants they'll take cover but if you leave them they call the cops.
If you make a lot of noise they'll call the cops.
Tenants only care about open drawers if they enter a room where they are open.

Car/Van stunts
If there are tenants in the building they will notice and quickly call the cops
If there is no tenants in the building the tenants wont care.

When you go to your profiles and to your saved game it should load to your last save. If for some reason you cannot find your save file I have another guide that tries to help recover it.

Yes, you can play after the credits and there even is a few small missions after the game is finished.

This one I actually made a video on so that I can explain easier. Anyways, so when you unlock a door you can use M3 or if not on PC it should tell you what to hold down to re-lock.

Originally, I thought you'd have to re-load your save file when I first checked (Which is what I did when I made the same mistake). Thanks to Dr. Bread on a steam forum you don't have to. Behind the shed of the house of where the mission takes place there is another painting.

Since the game doesn't directly tell the players how each of these devices are different from each other, I spent an hour making a chart to compare and contrast these hacking devices. If anyone has anything they wanted to add, feel free to let me know. I intentionally left some comparisons out of the chart to make it shorter.

There are two different things you can do if you don't want to carry around a tool anymore

First, you can simply store the item in your locker or if you have a spare car you can store the tool(s) in the car.

It'll always be in the car and/or specific locker for you even if you leave the area and come back later.


However, some people might've made the same mistake as me and had too many spare tools and you want all but one of them gone (The screenshot shows my two duped crowbars that I don't need anymore)


If you want your tools to me gone all you need to do is to first put the item(s) in your inventory. Next, go to one of the neighborhoods and drop the item. If you drive to another area the item will be gone. However, when doing this a few times a few of the attempts had the item say it was in my inventory still. If you try to put it in storage or equip it, then it'll vanish.
