Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb - RTX ON - 2023 Graphical Upgrade
By Madmonkey68
This guide will show you how to make use of RTX Ray Tracing graphical improvements using ReShade software to play "Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb".

Includes a resolution fix, high quality cut-scenes fix and an uncapped framerate fix.
Also shows how to do an "API Wrapper Downgrade" to enable ReShade usage on older games which utilize DirectX 8 and older.

The RTX mod used in this guide is very performance heavy and recommended to be used on newer high-end systems (further tweaking of ReShade settings may be required by user to achieve optimal results).

It's important to note that Ray Tracing support IS available for Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB cards and up, but with less ray casting done by the card compared to RTX series cards with dedicated RTX cores. On GTX 10 series cards Ray Tracing is processed by using regular cuda cores instead of dedicated RTX cores. The performance hit is certainly there and heavier on cards that have lesser cores to spread the load. Although you might get playable frame rates, even running ray tracing on lower settings instead of Ultra with a GTX 1070, 1080 or 1080Ti could end up severely hurting your FPS.

Tested with the following at 4K (3840x2160) resolution:

CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K
GPU: GeForce GTX 1080TI
OS: Windows 10

Performance: 30 FPS

Inside your "bin" folder, rename “ReShade32.dll” to “dxgi.dll”.
Your folder should now look like the following.

Finally, proceed to test launch the game.
Once it has done loading you should get a notification at the top of your screen showing ReSahde has installed, press "Home" key to bring up the menu or to make it go away and press "Skip".
Tweaking ReShade - RTX ON
Now we will get RTX working in ReShade.

Due to legal reasons I cannot post where you can find this ReShade RTX mod for free.
Visit the creator's Patreon here if you want to buy the mod: https://www.patreon.com/mcflypg

Once you have this RTX mod, close the game if its running and open the RTX mod folder.
There are two sub folders located in there named "Shaders" and "Textures".
In order to install it, copy and replace both folders to path: X:\Steam\steamapps\common\Indiana Jones and the Emperors Tomb\GameData\bin\reshade-shaders

Proceed to launch the game, once in-game bring up the ReShade menu by pressing "Home" key and match the presets listed below.

To enable Ray Tracing support and achieve similar results, match these same settings.

In ReShade, check-off the following:

✔️Bloom [qUINT_bloom.fx]
✔️Levels [Levels.fx]
✔️Vibrance [Vibrance.fx]
✔️MXAO [qUINT_mxao.fx]
✔️Debanding [qUINT_deband.fx]
✔️RTGlobalillumination [qUINT_rtgi.fx]
✔️DELC_Sharpen [qUINT_sharp.fx]
✔️Curves [Curves.fx]
✔️Tint [Sepia.fx]
✔️SSR [qUINT_ssr.fx]
✔️Lightroom [qUINT_lightroom.fx]

Some options were turned off for certain scenery and screenshots, it may be necessary to further tweak these settings to achieve optimal results.

As mentioned above, Ray Tracing support IS available for Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB cards and up, but with less ray casting done by the card compared to RTX series cards with dedicated RTX cores.

Those who do not have a RTX series card can still try to make use of the graphical fidelity this Ray Tracing guide offers. If performance becomes a big issue you can disable "RTGlobalillumination [qUINT_rtgi.fx]" and you should still benefit graphically.

I am personally using a newer version of the RTX mod but I have tested with multiple and visuals are nearly if not identical.

I stand corrected, forcing 4K resolution though dgVoodoo results in incorrect aspect ratio. You still need to use the resolution patch to get it fixed.

The game hang at start if I select any other resolution than 4K, i.e. native one and it’s caused by dgVoodoo. Also you don’t need the resolution mod if you use dgVoodoo - you can force it via dgVoodoo control panel. And last thing, do alt-tab to desktop and back to the game to get correct colors, otherwise it will be too dark and oversaturated.

@丂ア乇丂丂ひ_丂乃 Also not sure where the hell you got the whole "professional" thing from, these are mods made by dedicated fans on their own free time free of charge. If you think this is so bad and you know better then make the better mod yourself and stop bitching at the people donating their own time and skills in making these mods trying to make the game better for everyone!

@丂ア乇丂丂ひ_丂乃 What did you expect for a 21 year old game? This isn't going to have a huge dedicated modding community like Skyrim

@13irth

I fully agree man. Not hating on the modders work but it's not very professional looking. Just totally oversaturated and bloomed and why the fuck an old castle would reflect as surface of glass? lmao

As a person who makes worlds for VRChat, the lighting is garbage. This mod is bad.

I had the same issue as D0tDash - turned out I was using the wrong password when unzipping the archive.

having an issue with the uncapped fps where now im unable to cycle through my inventory (mouse wheel or arrow keys). could that cause such an issue?
D0tDash 5 Aug, 2023 @ 9:04pm
@Madmonkey looks like it was an issue with the widescreen fix - when I extracted the files, everything in it was 0 bytes. Very odd, never seen that before. Will try to download and extract again.
