HOSTILE CREATURES
Below this section are hostile creatures, which will attack the slugcat on sight.
LIZARDS
Lizards are hostile creatures that walk mainly on the ground, but can walk on the walls, ceiling, or they can leap sometimes. Some of the lizards can even spit! Lizards, like other creatures can be lineaged into other stronger lizards.

--GREEN LIZARD--
The green lizard is one of the weakest lizards, and likely the first one you'll encounter. They are pretty much the base lizard. They cannot: swim, spit, leap, or snap spears, but they are immune to worm grass.

They are relatively slow, and can be avoided by jumping over them, sliding under them, or just straight up stabbing them. They are commonly found in almost every area, but a lot of them are in the Outskirts and the Industrial Complex.

--PINK LIZARD--
The pink lizard is like the green lizard, but smaller and faster. Their unique ability is that they can climb poles. They are likely the second one you'll encounter.

To avoid them, you can either stab them, or try to jump past. They are faster than green lizards, so this is riskier. You can also try to sneak around them with a pipe or trick them with a shortcut.

--BLUE LIZARD--
The blue lizard is the weakest lizard, and is likely the third or fourth lizard you'll encounter. They can climb poles, ceilings, and background walls.
(thats fred, hes dumb.)
The easiest way to avoid them, if youre not playing as Monk or Saint, is by stabbing them, as they have 1 health and can be killed immediately by most slugcats with one spear.

--WHITE LIZARD--
The white lizard is very unique, and is likely the third or fourth lizard you'll encounter. This lizard is the only lizard in Rain World that can camouflage itself. It has the abilities of a blue lizard, but it can blend in with background walls.

They can be avoided easily by running past or stabbing them, as they will be immobile for a few seconds.

--ORANGE LIZARD--
The orange lizard is also unique, as it can telepathically communicate with other orange lizards.

The one with the longest antennae is the pack leader, and killing them will make them act like any other lizard. To avoid them, try not to be seen by them at all, because they'll try to flank you. (they're not called yellow lizards, there's literally a track named orange lizard.)

--BLACK LIZARD--
The black lizard is blind, and has whiskers on its front. Its more friendly to other lizards than other lizards are. To avoid them, you can just slide under them and they wont know.

SPECIAL LIZARDS
I will be classifying a special lizard as something that cannot normally be seen in Survivor or Monk, or a non lizard that is related to the lizard species.

--AXOZARD--
Axozards, or as some call them, salamanders, are lizards mainly found in water filled areas such as Shoreline, Waterfront Facility*, or Submerged Superstructure*.

They are difficult to avoid as they swim faster than the average slugcat. You can avoid them by sneaking around them, or killing them. They are unique as they are one of the only lizards who can swim.

--RED LIZARD--
The red lizard is one of the most feared creatures in Rain World along with the other red creatures (except for spitter spiders). They are a very powerful apex predator and an unstoppable force. Thankfully, they only appear in Hunter. Attempting to kill one is unadvised.

Like seriously, these things hunt vultures as a sport.
<-- threatening :(
The best way to avoid them, is by running away and waiting until they leave. They are extremely fast, threatening, and can climb poles.

--LEAPZARD--
The leapzard is another feared creature, but they are less feared than the red lizard. They also only appear in hunter. They are very powerful, but their unique talent is leaping through the air with a small explosion from their tail.

They can be avoided, but they are powerful and fast.

DOWNPOUR LIZARDS

--BROWN LIZARD--
The brown lizard is another lizard that can leap, but their leap is different from the Leapzards leap.
They have unique spitballs that are brown and can cause almost anything to fall, where the brown lizard can then catch them. The best way to avoid them is to approach from behind, and stab them multiple times, or stay out of their eyesight.

--EELZARD--
The eelzard is a lizard commonly found in Rivulets campaign, has adapted to the water, and is like an upgraded axozard. They have no legs, and cant move very well on land. In water they are very fast, and when slugcats are on the menu, you should start running.
(dont worry hes stuck on land)

--LIGHT PINK LIZARD--
The light pink lizard is only found in Saints campaign. They are the smallest lizard, and relatively weak. Their unique talent is their tongue. They have adapted like the saint has, and can fling themselves with their tongue.
CENTIPEDES
Centipedes are electrical creatures that have no eyes, but have long body parts and can kill you with a single shock. They are very terrifying, and you can crouch to avoid most of them.

--Infant Centipede--
The infant centipede is literally harmless. So harmless, that just like a batfly, you can grab them and eat them alive.

They also have special centiwing variants.

--Young Centipede--
Like infant centipedes, they can only stun a slugcat. They can be killed with one or two spears, and are a reliable food source, as they fill 2-3 pips as all slugcats. Unfortunately, this centipede can kill slugpups :(. They are around the same size as the slugcat, and are neutral until threatened.

--Adult Centipede--
The adult centipede sees the slugcat as prey. They hunt by grabbing prey with both heads and shocking their prey. They can be killed with 2-3 spears. They fill 3-5 pips.

--OVERGROWN CENTIPEDE
The overgrown centipede is terrifying. They are around the size of EIGHT SLUGCATS STACKED ON TOP OF EACHOTHER. They can thankfully be killed with one spore puff if you have good aim. Otherwise, they need a ton of spears.

--RED CENTIPEDE--
The red centipede is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrifying. If you see this thing, there's no chance of you surviving, just leave that room, but if the red centipede sees you, stay still. If it gets bored and leaves, run.

If you try to attack them with a spear, their shell will block it and fall off. If you hit the spot without a shell it will take damage. You can kill these with spore puffs, too.

--Centiwing--
Centiwings are around the size of an overgrown centipede, and are a flying variant of centipedes. If youre seen by them, the centiwing will run away for a few seconds, and then hunt you down.
They also have a funny dance.

They are the main centipede threat of Sky Islands, and can outrun most creatures. (or i guess, outfly?)

--Aquapede--
Aquapedes, like eelzards, are mainly found in Rivulets campaign. They are like adult centipedes, but they are faster underwater.
SPIDERS
Spiders are hostile enemies found mostly in Shaded Citadel. They are relatively weak, but they are also the most terrifying enemy in the game in my opinion.

--Coalescipede--
The coalescipede comes in a large variety of sizes, but they mostly look like small baby spiders. They are afraid of light. They can group into long centipede like formations (coalesciPEDE) and cover prey, poisoning them to death.
image is spoiler for people with arachnophobia
When in this chain state they will not be afraid of light and will hunt anything down.

--Wolf Spider--
A wolf spider is a large spider that has long spines on its back. It is quite easy to avoid, as you can literally walk past it and it'll ignore you.

--Spitter Spider--
The spitter spider is the same as a wolf spider, except it has red spines and long claws. The way it hunts is by spitting leeches at their enemies, which will cause them to fall over repeatedly, and the spider will then drag the prey to their den. You can avoid them pretty easily, by not being seen by them, dodging the leeches, or even just crawling away after getting hit.

--Mother Spider--

The mother spider looks like the wolf spider, except green. They run away from the player at first, but become aggressive if being followed too long (just like real women!!). They can be avoided by following them from a far proximity if they're going the route you're taking.
VULTURES
Vultures are the most feared creatures in rain world. Almost every creature is afraid of them, except for things like red lizards. They have masks that you can spear off, but if you do they wont run away and hunt you down across cycles. But hey, at least you get a cool mask that scares off some lizards!

--Vulture Grub--
The vulture grub is a small banana shaped creature that is found in underground areas mostly. They can be swallowed alive, but this will only store them in your stomach. You can kill them and eat them though. If you throw them, they'll shoot out a laser.

If this laser is in the open and it starts flashing green, a vulture will be summoned, If there is no enemy present after the vulture is summoned, the vulture will consume the grub. If it flashes red, it has failed and a vulture has not been summoned.

--Vulture--
The vulture is a large bird-like enemy that will swoop down and surprise prey, grab them with their teeth and take them into the sky, killing them. They are one of the only enemies without a visible den.

You can avoid them by watching for a shadow. You can see their shadow on background walls, and if you see it, get ready for a fight, or get ready to run.

--King Vulture--
The king vulture is a variant of vulture that is the same as the vulture, except with two large tusks attached to its head. The tusks have lasers attached to them, and the tusks will shoot out and stab prey, dragging them towards the vultures mouth and taking them into the sky. Their mask looks different, as it has a small triangle on the forehead.

--Miros Vulture--
The miros vulture is one of the most feared enemies in the game. They are similiar to the king vulture, except instead of tusks they have the same eye as the miros bird. This eye is special, because it shoots a laser beam that has an explosion at the end of it. They have the same mouth as the miros bird too, and they have colorful wings. Sometimes they have rainbow wings too!
AMBUSH PREDATORS
I'm going to define an ambush predator as: A predator that disguises itself, or attempts to appear hidden.

WORM GRASS

There are two types of worm grass. Worm grass is a predator that lures prey by tricking them into thinking its just normal grass, and then dragging them into the ground, killing them.

--Blue Worm Grass--
Blue worm grass is pretty strong. If you try to run through a large patch, you will likely die.

--Red Worm Grass--
Red worm grass is very powerful and will drag you in with just one grass.

OTHER
--Dropwig--
Dropwigs are hidden predators that hide in the ceiling of a room. When walked under they will ambush the prey by dropping onto them and sometimes throwing them into the air and catching them.

They can also lure prey with items such as blueberries, bombs, explosive spears, and other food.

--Pole Plant--
The pole plant is a tall creature that attempts to take the appearance of a pole. At first glance, if not disturbed before seeing, they will look almost exactly like a normal pole, besides being slightly more red. When disturbed, they will grow red leaves from the side and a mouth on the top and try to grab anything near it.

--Monster Kelp--
Monster kelps are similiar to pole plants, but they look like kelp, instead of a pole. They are blind, but they have good hearing. They will attack if they hear an unfortunate prey. When attacked, they will ball up into some sort of capsule, and if dead, they will go back into their den after a few seconds.

--Stowaway--
The stowaway attempts to hide in a ceiling, only visible by tendrils coming down from its spot. If a creature touches a tendril, they will be revealed to be tongues, and the stowaways mouth will open, attempting to drag the creature into it.
THE ROT
The Rot is a very large hive mind of cancerous growths, found only in Five Pebble's superstructure (The Exterior, The Wall, Five Pebbles).

--Daddy Long Legs--
The daddy long legs is the most basic form of rot, and the second youngest version of rot. Like all rot, they have very sensitive hearing, but are blind. If they hear something move, they will reach their tentacles into the spot they heard the sound and attempt to drag the prey back up and into the cancerous center. They will emit blue circles when they hear a sound.
A good way to avoid them is attaching a grapple worm into them, and then letting that grapple worm attach to the wall, trapping the rot in that spot.
________________________________________________________________________________

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--Brother Long Legs--
The brother long legs is a weaker version of the daddy long legs and the youngest version of the rot. They are the same as the daddy long legs, but smaller and slower. They also emit a light green circle instead of a blue circle. They have less tentacles than the daddy long legs.

--Mother Long Legs--
The mother long legs is the oldest and strongest version of the rot.
They are much larger than the daddy long legs and emit a purple circle. If they hear something, they WILL get to it and kill it. They have WAY more tentacles than the daddy long legs.
LEECHES
--Blood Leech--
The blood leech is the weakest kind of leech, requiring around 7 to drown a slugcat. They hunt by attaching themselves to prey in large groups, attempting to drown the creature, and eating it.

--Sea Leech--
The sea leech is the same as the blood leech, except stronger, requiring about 2 to drown you. They are also larger than the blood leech.

--Jungle Leech--
The jungle leech is exclusively found in the Outer Expanse, and is unique as it can drain food from a creature, which is presumably how it feeds. It can stay attached for a long time after leaving water.
UNCATEGORIZED
--Miros Bird--
The miros birds are large bird-like creatures found in Subterranean, Metropolis, and the Memory Crypts. They are not found in the memory crypts when playing as Rivulet.
They attack by dashing across the lands while chopping with their large scissor-like mouths.

They can be killed quite easily when they get stuck, but if you get too close they'll kill you.

--Leviathan--
The leviathan is the second largest creature in the game, and can kill almost anything in its path. It is exclusively found in Shoreline and Submerged Superstructure. There is also an albino leviathan in the Subterranean Lake.

They attack by using a hydraulic press like mouth and crushing anything.

--Giant Jellyfish--
The giant jellyfish is a large jellyfish that will attempt to pull prey into the center of its body with long tentacles, electrocuting them to death, like centipedes.

They appear exclusively in Frigid Coast as Saint and Submerged Superstructure.
NEUTRAL CREATURES
These creatures that are neutral, and are either reputation based, afraid of the slugcat, or passive towards the slugcat.

--Overseer--
The overseer is your guide through Rain World. It will show you helpful hints, lead you in circles, lead you towards a shelter (rarely), and get you killed by scavengers. They come in a wide variety of colors, but the most common one is yellow. Color list: Yellow, Blue, Red, Green, White, Purple. Most of those colors are only found in Outer Expanse.

--Squidcada--
The squidcada is a flying creature that is passive, but if disturbed can ram you. They get their name by looking like a squid and a cicada mixed together. You can also grab them and they will lower your gravity.

They eat batflies, and they will sometimes go "leech fishing" if near a body of water with leeches, where they swoop into the water, grabbing a few leeches, and then taking them home.

--Noodlefly--
The noodlefly is a neutral creature that flies with a group of 1-4 children. If a child is attacked, the adult noodlefly will turn their snoot into a large spike and stab the attacker. They have a very wide variety of colors.

The infant noodlefly is a smaller version of the noodlefly, without a spike. They can be eaten if grabbed alive or dead, but this will anger the noodlefly, and it will hunt you down until death.

--Garbage Poles--
Garbage poles are species likely related to pole plants. They eat by sucking waste from the ground. They are almost only found in garbage wastes. They are very annoying, as if you go too close, they will take your spear. If you try to hit them with a spear or a rock, they will become angry and attempt to drown you or fling you.

--Snurtle--
The snurtle is a creature that slowly walks across damp regions. If they feel threatened, they will start to pop, and eventually create a large pop that will stun almost anything. They are very annoying in drainage system speceifically. Their shell can have almost any hue or gradient.

--Lantern Mouse--
The lantern mouse is a small creature afraid of almost everything. They "play with" other lantern mice, which is cute. They eat batflies. If they spot something they are afraid of, they will start running away and squeaking. They hang from ceilings and produce a large amount of light to sleep.

--Jetfish--
The jetfish is an underwater creature found mainly in the Shoreline. They are very valuable tools in crossing large bodies of water, as if you grab them you can go much faster in the water.

--Tongue Worm--
The tongue worm is a creature found in Metropolis and The Exterior. They can help you navigate through regions like the Underhang if used correctly. If you grab one of them and attempt to double jump it will shoot a pink tongue out from one of its holes and grapple onto the surface you want.

--Raindeer--
The raindeer is a passive creature found exclusively in the Farm Arrays. You can ride on their antlers if they lower your head. You can get them to lower their head by dropping or throwing a spore puff to where you want them to go. They will "eat" the spore puff or the puffs gas, which gives you an opportunity to grab their antlers. They will then go either left or right, taking you past deadly worm grass, which they are immune to.

--Inspector--
The inspector is a large type of overseer that comes in the same color variety, but they are less mobile and are confined in one room. They protect neuron flies, and if one is harmed by anything, the inspector will become aggressive and throw spears and other objects lying around the room. Killing these is easy if you have a grenade on you, as they will die easily if you explode their stomach with a grenade.

When killed, they will drop three inspector eyes, which have 20 trading value with Scavengers.

--Yeek--
The yeek is a creature found exclusively in the Outer Expanse. It has the appearance of a frog, and will jump energetically until killed or grabbed. When grabbed, they will increase the slugcats jump height by a lot, making them easily able to cross medium sized worm grass patches.

SAINT SPOILERS AHEAD
--Firebug--
The firebug is an eggbug type that hes reddish pink fire eggs on it. They are exclusively found in Rubicon, and will become aggressive when speared. When speared twice, they will drop Fire Spears, which are the only spears that saint can throw.

Spoilers end here

--Eggbug--
The eggbug is a creature that is afraid of almost everything. It carries eggs(?) on its back, and when killed the eggs(???) will pop off where they can be eaten for a food pip each.
SCAVENGERS
Scavengers are human-like creatures that have a reputation based system. They will be getting their own section as they are very unique.

--Scavenger--
The scavenger is a humanoid creature that wanders the land in packs, looking for food, or something else.

They can pick up weapons like beehives, spears, or even explosives.
They have 3 different communication signals. If they want an item, they stare at the player and paw at the ground or reach out to it. If they are warning you, they will hold their spears up like they're about to throw them. They will also point their hand or spear at a threat or something they hate, like a slugpup. They also have fear, which you can see when their eyes widen and their spines vibrate.

--Elite Scavenger--
Elite scavengers are identical to regular scavengers, but they carry electric spears, and wear a uniquely shaped vulture mask. They also have the unique ability to leap, and throw spears at an angle. They will only appear as Artificer and Hunter when your reputation is too low.

SPOILERS FOR ARTIFICERS CAMPAIGN BELOW!!!

--SCAVENGER CHIEFTAIN--
The chieftain scavenger is a boss-like scavenger that only appears at the end of the Artificers campaign, perched on a throne. He has red centipede shells protecting him as armor. A good way to defeat him is by stunning him with your explosive parry, mauling him, stunning him again, mauling him, and repeating the process. But if you start running out of parries, you can start throwing spears at him.
Spoilers end here

OTHER SCAVENGER INFORMATION
Scavengers have 3 different groups: Tolls, Nomads, and Merchants. Theres also strongholds, but they dont really matter that much. The toll scavengers are the most unique. They will set up large poles with raindeer skulls on the top, and if you want to go past that pole, you will have to pay them. The easiest form of payment is with one pearl. However, your reputation will increase or decrease how much you need to pay. If you have maxed out reputation, you can even walk through without paying them. This will however cost some of your reputation, so it is not reccomended. Lower reputations will make scavenger tolls cost more. If you have -100 reputation with them, they will attack you instead of asking for payment.

Nomads are groups of scavengers that do not have homes, and are constantly moving. They are the most common group of scavenger. Since they do not have a home, if you have a high enough reputation with them, they will see your current shelter as the best place to stay for that cycle. They will even use that shelter for cycles past the cycle you slept in it. They are more afraid of you however, so be cautious around them.
Merchants are also very unique. They are groups of scavengers with only one scavenger in it. This scavenger will live in a single room, and trade with scavengers or slugcats that come by.
SPOILERS
These are creatures that contain spoilers for the game.

--Iterator--
Iterators (EYE-terator) are large purposed organisms made up of smaller purposed organisms which were created to solve "The Great Problem". The five you get to see in the game are: Looks to the Moon, Five Pebbles/Erratic Pulse, No Significant Harassment, Seven Red Suns, Sliver Of Straw

--Neuron Fly--
The neuron fly is one of the purposed organisms that make up iterators. They act as neuron cells for the iterator. They can be picked up and eaten for 1 food pip.

--Echo--
Echoes are ancients that had failed to ascend due to something drawing them to the land or something i don't know lore. You can talk to them after talking to five pebbles and they give you more lore. Does everything in this game have to be about the lore? Yes it does actually because next we have

--Guardian--
Guardians. I have no idea how to even describe them. If your karma doesnt look like an X then they will start playing basketball with your dead body.

--Void Worm--
I don't even know what they are, but one of them named Jerry brings you to ascension at the end of the game.

--Hunter Long Legs--
I guess this should be in the rot category, but i'm putting it here. It is the deceased corpse of the Hunter that appears in the room you died at if you failed to ascend on cycle 0 or below. It is the weakest version of the rot, but its still the most terrifying one.
OTHER
These are creatures that do not fit in a certain category.

--Batfly--
The batfly is a creature around the size of slugcats arm. They can be grabbed and eaten for 1 food pip. They can also sleep by forming stacks under horizontal poles.

--Hazers--
Hazers are small squid creatures found near bodies of water, but never in them. When thrown or killed they will release a large amount of ink, blinding any creature. They can be eaten after the ink is dissolved for 1 food pip. They can also be fed to lizards, or put in water where they can swim.

--Jellyfish--
The jellyfish is a small creature that resembles a jellyfish. They can be eaten for one food pip or thrown to electrocute a creature, stunning them.
Slugpups
Slugpups are small child versions of the slugcat. They will spawn in shelters randomly around the map after completing gourmands alternate ending.
