Your Turn to Die: Mega post
By NBi
This is a giant post about YTTD, I’m a giant nerd about it and the source code of the game so I’ll try my best to explain some things about it and provide resources. I’ll attempt to be as spoiler free as possible.

This guide will change as the game is updated and as I find out more things about the game's source code.

Puzzle Explanations
In this section I'll be going over the puzzles in the game and how to progress in the game normally. Consider this the walkthrough portion of the guide.

Chapter 1, Part One Puzzles
  • First Trial
    1. Use the red key on the green lock
    2. Interact with the new red key icon
    3. Interact with the sandpaper
    4. Interact with green lock again

  • Russian Roulette
The Russian Roulette room is a bit more unique because of how you can change up the order of the bullets. This is the best possible outcome of that choice. After doing this, interact with two dolls and the next choices will be obvious.

Chapter 1, Part Two Puzzles
  • Saving Gin
Saving Gin is simple enough. Follow what the game tells you to do, press the button and press the faces when you see one. Nothing much to note other then your mouse has to be on the button, you can't hold it once on the button and move your mouse around still holding it.

  • Red room puzzle
    1. Pick up the Torn Paper on the table.
    2. Pick up the Bottle on the top-right shelf.
    3. Select the Lighter from your inventory to light up the candle on the left-side ledge.
    4. After you've lit the candle and picked up the Bottle, the teddy bear will start crying.
    5. Dry off the teddy bear's tears with the Torn Paper. You should receive a Tool (Flathead Screwdriver).
    6. Select the Toolbox in your inventory to use Tool (Flathead Screwdriver) on the box on the right table to get Tool (Allen Wrench).
    7. Touch the box on the bookshelf then touch the books in the bookshelf so you can reach the box.
    8. Touch the box again to get Two Needles. There's a digital clock on the shelf that's now visible that says 28:75.
    9. Select the Two Needles for the grandfather clock.
    10. Set the clock time to 5:15 to get Tool (Phillips Screwdriver).
    11. Use the Toolbox on the red liquid covered tile on the floor to pry it up.
    12. Pour in the water from the Bottle and take the Tool (Nail Puller) that floats up.
    13. Select the Toolbox and use it on the painting.

  • Mirror room puzzle
    1. Take the left light bulb from the left half of the room and move it to the hole on the right half.

    3. Peel off the sky wallpaper from the right half of the room.
    4. Take the Spray Bottle.
    5. Touch the scale to move the weight to the other side in the left half of the room. This moves the hot water from the red "Sp" Room to the yellow "Sp" Room and vice versa.
    6. Move to → 2F Landing → "Sp" Room (Red). Pick up the Bath Stopper from the bottom of the empty bath.
    7. Move to → 2F Landing → "Sp" Room (Yellow). Select the Bottle from your inventory and fill it with hot water.
    8. Move to → 2F Landing → Central Hall → Smoking Area Hallway → Game Room → Blue Room.
    9. Take the doll you you find there.
    10. Move to → Game Room → Smoking Area Hallway → Central Hall → 2F Landing → "Mir" Room.
    11. On the left half of the room, put the painting you got from the Red Room in the blank spot of the wall. Then take the gun painting off the wall (Left Gun Painting).
    12. On the right half of the room, flip over the gun painting, then take it off the wall (Right Gun Painting).
    13. Place the Left Gun Painting on the right half of the room and the Right Gun Painting on the left half of the room.
    14. Pour the hot water from the Bottle onto the left half's dog ice sculpture.
    15. Use the Spray Bottle on the clean mirror in the left half of the room.
    16. Place the doll you found in the Blue Room in front of either mirror. Then stand in front of the other.

Chapter 2, Part One Puzzles
  • Attractions
I can't necessarily tell you how to get better because it all boils down to "get better" but here are some tips to get better! Try getting the easy ticket as soon as you can to make the attractions that much easier!
    1. Memory Dance
This minigame is easily the hardest one, you can pick Gin or Kanna but the question is why would you? Reko is the best choice here because of her ability. Using the easy ticket it reveals the 4th move onwards which makes the attraction piss easy.

    2. Quick Draw
Simply using Sou's ability in this game makes it easy enough. Although using him with the easy ticket is useless, because it has the same ability as Sou. Just use whoever you want to out of Reko and Nao.

    3. Runaway Minecart
Sou and Gin carry on this attraction, especially Sou because the effect of the easy ticket stacks with the effect of going faster.

    4. Hide and Seek
Same thing applies with Kanna in this attraction, about the effect with the easy ticket stacking. You could also try using Keiji to strategically stack all the levers to be super close to finishing and end them all at the same time.

Alice is also very easy to play with normally.

    5. Spirit Shutter
Again, the easy ticket effect applies to Nao's ability, although also playing with Reko is also very easy.

    6. Stay on Target
Anyone is a good choice here, personally I always pick Reko because of how slow it makes the target. Although playing with Sou stacks with the easy ticket, which makes it all the more easy.

Achievements
For achievements, I’ll be trying to explain the achievements that actually require you to purposefully do something. I won’t be explaining how to get the achievement where you meet Joe.

  • My Hand Slipped
Simply put the 3 real bullets in a row and randomly shoot at Joe, Keiji, Q-taro and Kai. Doesn’t really matter in what way you put the bullets, so as a real bullet hits one of them.

  • Scar-a Chidouin
Despite this being simplistic enough, completing all the minigames in Chapter 2-1, I wanted to write down that it doesn’t matter who you bring into the minigames. All it does is affect the difficulty and does whatever the character says they’ll do afterwards. It's also very strange because of a specification of NOT accepting the clear chips when Reko presents them to you after the Room of Lies.

Try to pick a harder difficulty because most of the time, the harder it is the bigger the amount of tokens you’ll get. And to make it easier for yourself, just buy the easy ticket at the prize counter

    Hidden Achievements

  • A Plea to My Sister
Push Reko during the final attraction.

  • Fake, Yet Alive
DON'T push Reko during the final attraction.

  • Entrusted with Hope
Vote for Sou in the 2nd Main Game.

  • A Best Friend Vanished
Vote for Kanna in the 2nd Main Game.

  • The Invincible Dummies
Keep every dummy alive in for the entirety of Chapter 3, Part One.

In order to keep Anzu alive: Win the first Obstructor fight within 9 turns.

In order to keep Hayasaka alive: Win the second Obstructor fight within 3 turns.

In order to keep Kurumada alive: Raise the meter high enough in Maple's fight (60%~).

In order to keep Ranmaru alive: Finish the electric conduit puzzle correctly.

In order to keep Mai alive: Win the last Obstructor fight within 11 turns.
Assets
Editing assets is as simple as changing the files, depending on which version of the game you have the files of the game will be either ".png" or ".rpgmvp" files.

Editing .png files
Changing the png files is as simple as putting them into an image editor or art program and changing it.

Alternatively, you could change the files outright by replacing it with another image of the same name. An example would be: Joe's sprites have the prefix of "Cara1-". The first sprite you see of Joe is "Cara1-1.png" and if you replace that file with anything else under the same name, anytime that sprite is seen in the prologue it will show whatever you replaced it with.

Character "Cara"
Cara0: Sara
Cara1: Joe
Cara2: Keiji
Cara3: Kanna
Cara4: Q-taro
Cara5: Sou
Cara6: Reko
Cara7: Nao
Cara8: Kai
Cara9: Gin
Cara10: Alice (Removed prototype version)
Cara11: Alice
Cara12: Mishima
Cara13: Kugie
Cara14: Miley
Cara15: Safalin
Cara16: Gashu
Cara17: Mr. Chidouin
Cara18: Ranger
Cara19: Midori
Cara20: Megumi
Cara21: Keiji (Child)
Cara22: Mr. Policeman
Cara23: ???
Cara24: Ryoko
Cara25: Ryuu
Cara26: Strange lady
Cara27: Stronghold
Cara28: Ursheen
Cara29: Kobushi
Cara30: Gruusem
Note: List will be updated as game is updated.

Editing .rpgmvp files
Changing .rpgmvp files is a bit different. They are the encrypted version of the images from the RPG Maker MV engine itself, you can decrypt them using Petscko.[petschko.org]

This can also be used to decrypt RPG Maker MZ files.

Petscko can also encrypt files that aren't in the .rpgmvp file format, which when encrypted acts the same as .png files. The only difference is that you cannot open .rpgmvp files within art programs.

Sound Effects and Songs
Replacing sound effects and songs is as simple as going to the files of the game and finding the correct folder. The sound assets are put into different folders labeled "bgm", "bgs", "se", "me".

They stand for Background Music, Background Sounds, Sound Effects and Menu Effects.

Simply re-do what would've already had been done if replacing .png files.

One thing of note is that the different folders have different properties; BGM and BGS all repeat indefinitely while SE and ME only play once.
Modding the Game
Modding the game can be very easy and very difficult. Here I'll talk about it and what you can do with the game.

The easy, the difficult and the ugly
The easy
Technically anything, in terms of sounds and images it's as simple as replacing the files, although here I'm going to talk more in detail about the language portion of modding the game. But just to give some substance here, it's much easier to edit the game using the RPG Maker Editor itself since not only you can just edit it yourself through there but there's also tons of unused spaces in the game itself.

To see something to the effect of editing the games files for a different outlook in the game, check out YTTD: Blue Book.

What is very easy is replacing dialogue. Normally what you're supposed to do is go to the "data" folder of the game. There's a ton of files labeled as "MapX.json": these files are the entire game. They're what plays minigames, shows dialogue, plugin commands, etc. However, one important factor of how YTTD is made is that there's a plugin made by vgperson, this folder allows there to be multiple languages in the game. They're in another folder in "yttd/www/languages". In it you can see it has two folders "EN" and "JP", standing for English and Japanese.

For now ignore the JP file and go into the EN file, through here you can see everything that is translated into English (as the base game is Japanese). I don't want to replicate what's already said so there's instructions of the .js file, so please in your one time ready what's in it to replicate what's already done for other languages.

Click on any of the Map.txt files and you can see dialogue in that respective map. Some of them are unused and/or have commands (such as conditional branches) that are still in Japanese.

All of it is explained inside the vgpersons translation engine plugin.

Here you can edit any of the text and change any of the sprites with a simple text change. Go nuts.

The difficult
Sometimes editing these kinds of things are very dangerous and can damage the game to the point where it isn't playable. You should only really edit things like variables and switches if you understand what you're doing or already using the RPG Maker MV editor.

However with enough wit and effort, you can put your own twist on the story if you make a different decision. Although this is on another level of modding the game that I haven't tried myself so I can't make too many comments.

The ugly
The last part I want to talk about modding the game is, that I'm too sure on how to do it myself outside of the RPG Maker editor. As a new game developer, seeing how the English translation is taken out, it's very strange seeing it in a .txt format. Despite that, it is very doable and I encourage you all to study it and continue to improve the game. If I see another guide on how to use the translation engine I'll be linking it right here.

Current thoughts on how it works/Example:
