Keanu Reeves

If you want to feel even more like John Wick in this game, you can get the mod to look like him. This mod goes great with the John Wick Mode mod that you will see later in this guide. You could try using this mod while playing the John Wick soundtrack for the full experience.

Invisible Weird Headgear

Removes the weird, but useful headgear that is present in the game. Now, when wearing the cat ears, deer antlers, wolf tail, or gas mask, they will all be invisible.

Ashley Armor Removal

This mod removes Ashley's knight armor and disables the clunking sound, which can be great for most who use the armor purely for the effect and dislike the armor itself.
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/358

Hat Salazar

Restores Salazar's hat that he had in the original for anyone that felt like he was missing something. It will be present throughout the entire game where Salazar is present in his normal form.

https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/917

Dante as Leon

What's Dante's weapons without Dante himself wielding them? It just wouldn't be the same. Now you can play Resident Evil 4 as if it was a not so stylish DMC remake!

Harley Quinn Ashley

Need I say more?

Useful Mods
All Charms Unlocked

Due to charms being RNG, and there not being a consistent way to unlock every charm, this mod is useful to those who would like to try all of them.
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/542

Muted Ashley's Breathing

Some have gotten annoyed with the breathing sounds Ashley makes. If you are one of those people, this mod is for you.
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/218?tab=description

Health Bars

Although health bars are not very Resident Evil, and more Dark Souls, they can be a good tool for those who are annoyed at having to continuously shoot zombies without knowing when they will die. It is worth to consider that this mod would decrease the survival horror aspect of the game, but of course that is up to the player!
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/84

Dodge Roll

Now this one is cool... It turns Secret Service Agent Leon into an even more badass soldier, capable of effectively dodging and rolling away from enemy attacks. This swift movement addition to the game can spice things up.
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/496

One Shot Headshot

The One Shot Headshot mod does exactly what it says, it makes headshots one shot. There are exceptions to this rule, such as the chainsaw zombies in the picture not dying to one shot, as well as other zombie types such as this one. Only the regular zombies are affected, which can make it a fun mod because you feel like you are fighting zombies from other media. The author themselves referenced Romero movies.

No Crosshair Bloom

If you are annoyed at the crosshair bloom after every shot, making it harder to aim accurately, this mod can increase your experience.
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/251

Advanced Weapon Rework

This mod is more advanced than the others. It is "an extensive framework for weapon mods," that is used for other mods that include weapons.
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/42

John Wick Mode

This mod is not useful, but it is a lot of fun, and goes hand in hand with the advanced weapon rework. Using this mod allows you to hold your pistol like John Wick does in the movies. Use this with the Keanu Reeves skin and you have yourself a killer combo, literally.
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/43

Tighter Shotgun Spread

If you ever wanted to have a more accurate shotgun with more possibilities, this mod is for you. This mod will also change the crosshair to a dot when using a shotgun.
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/442

Kick Doors Open

Remnants of the original 2005 Leon are slowly coming back. Using this mod, you can kick any door open and melee at any time. All you'll have to do is double tap the open button.
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/407

No Zoom

Removes the zoom in that is present when aiming in with a weapon. Can be useful as a quality of life change.
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/52

Regenerador Weakness Expose

This mod makes one of the most frustrating enemies, the regenerador, a lot easier to deal with. On replays of the game, you will not have to anxiously complete the puzzle again, but you can simply see their weak spots without needing to use a biosensor scope.
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/588

Perfect Accuracy

Includes the No-Crosshair bloom spread, increases accuracy for most weapons and makes them easier to aim with, similarly to how guns were handled in the original.

Modding For Resident Evil 4
1. Search for Resident Evil 4 mods and choose the one you want to install.

2. Download the mod's files to your computer. The files may come in a zip or rar format, so you'll need Winrar to extract them.

3. Open Winrar and navigate to the downloaded mod file.

4. Right-click on the file and select "Extract Here" to extract the contents of the file to a new folder.

5. Open the Resident Evil 4 game folder on your computer. This is usually located in C:\Games\steamapps\common\RESIDENT EVIL 4 BIOHAZARD RE4

6. If the mod you downloaded includes files that need to be replaced, create backups of the original files before proceeding. This will allow you to restore the original game files if something goes wrong.

7. Copy the files from the mod's folder that you extracted using Winrar and paste them into the corresponding folders in the Resident Evil 4 game directory.

8. Launch the game and enjoy the new modded content!

For some mods you will need to open Fluffy Mod Manager and import the mods into there. Then you must select the mods that you want to use, and open the game through the Mod Manager.
Why Mods Are Good + Extra
A lot of people are complaining about new features and changes they dislike in the remake. I therefore wanted to create this guide to help more people who feel this way to comprehensively learn how to mod, and what mods are available that could improve their personal experience. A lot of people are complaining about things that can simply be fixed with mods, so I want to make this more accessible and easier to get started with, as modding can seem way harder than it is.
Disclaimer
I do not wish to take credit for any of the mods, I have not created nor participated in the creation of them. I simply created this guide to make great mods more accessible for players, and I have provided links throughout the guide where the corresponding author and their mod pages can be found. This guide can be treated as a summary on mods, a guide that has taken the top quality RE4 mods from Nexus and placed them in one guide, available to all. If any of the authors are not happy with the existence of this steam guide, they can feel free to send me a message.

(Some mods can be considered cheats, like infinite ammo mods. I did not include those. If you want those you can still find them on Nexus Mods.)
The End
Thank you for reading. If there is any feedback you would like to share please do!

Probably where the main folder is, but create a backup of your save just in case. You can just copy and paste the mod files into the main folder. More detailed instructions should be in the website, but generally mod files do not replace main files as far as I know.

If the mod includes files that need to be replaced, where do you find them? Which folder? Would it be easier to simply copy every file?

You’re welcome! Sounds good.

Thanks for this.

I would highly recommend ''Resident evil 4 Classic Gameplay''it allows to stagger enemies shooting in legs or torso like it used to be in the original game.
Tone  [author] 27 Apr, 2023 @ 12:13am
Thanks, this is some good information. I'll add some of these.
LiquidFoo 26 Apr, 2023 @ 8:07pm
Also for professional difficulty I like the mods that increase stagger values on headshots and leg shots.

If you want more run speed get the "Charm Effects" mod, toggle the 4x multiplier and equip the Striker charm at the first typewriter for 32% movement speed.

If you dislike that you can only store weapons in the storage box then the stack size multiplier mod is great too ("Max Stack Sizes- 999 or Multipliers- x2-5").
LiquidFoo 26 Apr, 2023 @ 8:07pm
After doing 2 playthroughs without mods, then doing another 7 runs or so I would say that some mods are must haves adding great QoL for repeated playthroughs.

The "No crosshair bloom spread" mods are replaced by the "Perfect accuracy" and "Perfect accuracy (mercenaries)" (same modder). Those 2, the all charms mod, and the "No aiming zoom" are must have mods for me.

Cosmetically must have mods are, imho: the mod to hide cat ears/chicken hat/wolf tail (iirc it's called "Invisible Weird Headgears"), and also the mod to hide Ashley's armour and minimize clanking sounds ("Ashley Armor Removal").
