SO FIRST YOU NEED 6 ROCKETS IN YOUR ROCKET LAUNCHER SO MAKE SURE TO HAVE THAT

SECOND YOU NEED TO SHOOT THE YELLOW PYRAMIDS THAT HEAL HIM,MAKE SURE TO DESTROY THE LOWEST FIRST AND THEN THE SECOND ONE AND THEN THE THIRD ONE

GOOD JOB NOW YOU NEED TO KILL HIM BECAUSE KNOW HE CANT HEAL AND HE WILL HAVE WEAKER ATTACKS

SHOOT HIM WITH EVERYTHING UNTIL HIS HEAD IS NEARLY CHOPPED OF

now you need to jump on a half-life jump pad ( that ♥♥♥♥ that makes you fly idk what is its name)

AND SHOOT HIM IN THAT PORTAL THAT HE HAS IN HIS HEAD

AFTER THAT YOU MUST SEE HIM DIE SO THAT YOU WILL BE HAPPY(make sure to curse him after)

GOOD JOB NOW YOU FINISHED HALF-LIFE(I NEEDED TO SEARCH ON YOUTUBE HOW TO KILL IT SO BE HAPPY THAT YOU KNOW THAT STEAM GUIDES EXIST)

but you can do something even simpler than this: exiting the game, that way so you cant deal with the nilanth anymore

the best way to destroy crystals is with a magnum or the gauss cannon then just camp behind the spikes as the commenters mentioned and jump with the trademarked half life jump pad and unload your smg into him then just use the gluon gun to destroy the portal in his brain

To add to a point in here, you can just hide behind the spikes when he shoots the portals at you, eventually he gives up, but you can hide behind the spikes to avoid the normal energy balls just run and jump away. He also spawns in Vortigaunts sometimes so just watch out for them. You'll know he's nearly dead when he starts shooting energy balls rapidly, but they are very easy to avoid, then you can find the specific jump bubble thing that launches you up super high and you can finish the job.

also you could just camp behind one of the spikes on an island, shoot he crystals and his head, then with some rockets just use the homing feature to shoot inside his head.
