My attempt at a cool NPC arena.

um, I think this map made it to the front page on the workshop, that is pretty cool.

Maps file name: mg_orangearena_ofepicness

Has ai nodes and a navmesh built in.
(except the navmesh was only generated using the console, so it will work correctly, like, 90% of the time until the nextbot decides to walk into a wall)

Map doesn't require any extra games, except Gmod

(I have changed my opinion on this map, so this next sentence is no longer relevant) If you think that this map looks ugly, then I slightly agree with you.


This is a somewhat large-ish medium-sized map specifically designed for PVE (player vs enemy, or something), NPC vs NPC battles, and also maybe sort of PVP, which is why I placed ai nodes everywhere (as well as a navmesh). I also attempted to make this map VERY confusing and extremely maze-like in order to make it even more exciting. I made so many rooms and so many hallways in this map, so if you get lost after walking down 2 hallways, then that's good, because that is exactly what I intended.

Please note: ENTIRE MAP IS INDOORS, and there is no outdoors section of this map, so there is probably no room to fly planes and stuff.

- Built-in Combine spawners and Rebel spawners.
- A button that causes 90% of the lights in the map to turn off. (complete darkness)
- plenty of rooms to explore.
- ai nodes and navmesh (and cubemaps).
- laundromat surrounded by a bunch of industrial machinery for some reason.
- room full of, like, 500 TV's.
- swimming pool with a diving board.
- cafe/bar with a stage
- A second bar that's literally right next to the first bar (the one with dev textures).
- extremely creepy "kitchen".
- snowy area with some snowfall
- dark and spooky area behind the bar.
- multiple dark and spooky areas
- super confusing and complex map layout, meant to be a lot like a maze.
- ORANGE DEV TEXTURES EVERYWHERE.
- A few eastereggs.
- A gross sewer system.
- random bathrooms
- An armory filled with explosives.
- And many more random things!!!


If you want to play this map and also use its intended purpose WITHOUT mods, I created a built-in enemy combine spawner, and also a built-in friendly-guys spawner for you to use. Each of these spawners spawn npc's infinitely, and there is no wave system.

The map does not automatically start with these spawners turned on. The spawners are turned on with glowing red buttons. The button that spawns Combine is located on an orange pole, in front of the main spawn area, next to the 2 mounted guns. The rebel spawner button is located directly under the main spawn area, in a small room. The "button of darkness" is also located in the exact same room as the rebel spawner button. All 3 of these buttons are relatively close to eachother.
If you still can't find it, there is an image in the group of images of this map that'll help you find where the buttons are. :D


Also, I configured the spawner so that there can only be a specific amount of spawned combine soldiers alive at once, so the spawner doesn't spawn 9999999999999999 soldiers and crash your game. You are welcome.


-12 metrocops (with pistols)
-16 Nova Prospekt Combine soldiers (8 with smg's, and 8 with shotguns)
-5 Elite Combine Soldiers (with AR2s, which means they can fire the Combine Energy Balls at you and junk)

(that is 33 combine soldiers in total)


-1 Alyx vance (with a shotgun)
-1 barney Calhoun (with an AR2)
-2 rebel medics (with AR2's)
-3 regular rebels (with SMG's)

Please note: When the combine spawner button is pressed, Combine soldiers will be spawned ALL AROUND the map. The rebels, on the other hand, will only be spawned in one location and not multiple.


If you want to play on this map WITH mods, then I highly suggest that you download an NPC spawner addon from the workshop. NPC's from VJ base and DRGbase work really well with this map.

ALSO, if you find a room that has graffiti art of 2 metrocops next to eachother, that means that that specific room is specifically meant for spawning NPC's, or at least has plenty of room for multiple NPC's to spawn. I suggest you put the NPC spawners in those rooms. (even though you can just place them wherever you want to)
