Persephone (Planet Nine)

Persephone, which you may know of as 'Planet Nine', is a yet-to-be-discovered planet lurking deep beyond Pluto. At an average of 473.52 AU, this mysterious planet has been hypothesized since 2015, but, as of April 30, 2023, has yet to be discovered. Persephone's exact appearance is unknown, but if it does exist, it is likely an ice giant. The exact color of which its bands would be isn't known, but if its anything like Uranus or Neptune, it is likely blue due to methane in its atmosphere.



Persephone is named after the Greek goddess of the underworld. In Greek mythology, Persephone was kidnapped and married by her uncle Hades. She was also called 'Kore', 'Tisiphone', 'Megaera', 'Allecto', and her roman name 'Proserpine'. She was also a vegetation goddess. Her symbols are Pomegranate, seeds of grain, torch, flowers, and deer.



The exact number of moons Persephone has is unknown, but is most likely between 23 and 45. Some of its moons have eccentric and even retrograde orbits because of them being captured by Persephone.
