Happy Steam birthday, comp! I joined in December 2004, when I bought the Valve "Orange Box" that came with the Half Life 2 and the original Portal. You had to make a Steam account to download Portal. So, that's 18 years of service for me.

Hmm . . . now that I just checked Google, it says the Orange Box came out in 2007. So, I wonder what I bought in 2004 that caused me to create a Steam account. Hmm . . . now I have to try to figure this out!

I didn't know you had a Steam account that old. You're the one that convinced me to make a Steam account back in 2010! It was in June though. They had a summer camp thing during their summer sale, but I didn't actually participate in it Happy 13th! I always thought your Steam account was only a couple of months older than mine!

My steam birthday is in September, and mine will be 13 years as well. I started on steam for Civ V.

I get surprised about the age of Steam as well. Back in 2006 I created a Steam account for Counter Strike but I never did more than play at a couple LAN parties.

That Steam account went away because I didn't make a purchase on it and it timed out. It'd be nice to have one with even more years on it!

Always surprises me when I'm reminded how old Steam is already. I'm going to hit 20 years on the platform myself in just 3 more years... 😰
