How to get gold relativelly quickly and easily with dragon tactics
By Tiaxy
In this guide, I will show you how to gain gold relativelly fast through dragon tactics, which can net gems aswell in some cases, so let's get right into it!

(If anything changes in the game that affects the method, I will be updating this guide as soon as possible, otherwise it should work in future without any trouble)

This guide will only be focusing on one tactic level that is the fastest to finish and get the rewards of!
Any tactics level can be replayed over and over again to grind for gold, this specific one, from my experience, is the fastest since no more than 1 dragon is needed to be defeated and it can be finished in 2 turns easily with the right things.

Other than this, any tutorial/first level of a chapter can be pretty easily beaten at lower levels too with any dragon. This guide only touches on the most optimal level for fast and efficient grinding.
Preparations: What you will need
To begin, you will need the following things:

-This hobgobbler dragon tactics level:
I don't remember myself wether or not you need to buy the expansion itself or not, but it can be bought for 1000 gold now and you will earn it all back with the first level it adds
As to how to get it, you only need to start the expansion's quest and complete it up to the point where you unlock it.

It's the only level we will be using for this guide.

-Food for the dragons you will be using
Every level completed in dragon tactics will decrease your dragons's energy, so be prepared by having food on you.
Best food to have are eggs in my opinion.

Chickens will net every 30 minutes 3 eggs and if you have a lot, will help your dragons's energy and level a lot, especially at the moment, where you can overfeed them and net them a lot of xp too.
Eggs can be used for fishing aswell, so even more usefull then already.

And that's it! Atleast for what we need.

Preparations: Recommendations
Next is what I recommend for even faster completion of the level:

-Being atleast level 5 or even higher
All the hobgobblers are level 1, so this can be done on a lower level, but higher is recommended, so you can get to the objective faster and be able to take a few hits too, since you do not need to defeat all the dragons on this level, but you will be attacked.

-A dragon with this role: Speed

It has a specific ability tied to them that speeds up the dragon and let's it move more in a turn:
Hyper:

Dragons that fall into this category that I have are the following:
  • Deadly Nadder
  • Speed Stinger
  • Tide Glider
  • Shivertooth
  • Shockjaw
  • Singetail

If you have dragons that fall into it/have the ability and I didn't mention, please let me know and I'll add it to the list. These are only the ones I personally have as mentioned.

-A throwing weapon
Against a Hobgobbler that will be required to be defeated. It will be in the way of your dragon and your player character can't reach it in a turn, so a throwable weapon, like an axe, will help you damage it in a turn and possibly defeat it aswell, which opens up the way for your companion to be able to get closer to the objective and reach it in the next without any trouble.
Dragon in question:

It is the only one in the way and afterwards nothing will stop you from getting to the flag.
We will be seeing him again in the next section.

And now you should have everything to get to the objective fast and efficient.
Again, it is not required, but recommended, if you don't have any of them or just some, you still can easily follow the steps in your own way.
Getting through the level
We now got everything, what comes next?

Completing the level itself:

For this guide, I will be using my Speed Stinger: Sonic

The objective is to get to the Archaeologist himself.

Let's get to him in 2 turns max and get that optional objective while we are at it!
2 turns is how much I took to get to him myself with everything I had.

The game has a speed up function in the bottom right corner (Fast Forward), make sure to turn it on before continuing. Double clicking on it will put it on max speed.

First and foremost, if you have one of the recommended dragons, you need to activate the Hyper ability with it, once you've done that, things should look as such (If you don't have any of the recommended dragons, you can just skip this step or you can use another buffing skill):
Powered up and ready to run.

Next up, it's your character's turn. They need to go as close as possible to him:
The one mentioned in the section before who blocks the way.

This is where a throwable weapon, the axe in this example, comes in handy.
The damage of the weapon will vary mattering from quality, mine is t3 legendary and so does high damage.

It can easily reach him from this point:
It can take multiple turns for you however, if the damage is not high enough or he dodges.
There is a small chance for any enemy to dodge in tactics.

And if he was defeated, then things should look as such:
If he wasn't, then till your dragon is able to pass by and go behind him, work on defeating him.
Also this made those two other Hobgobblers aware, so they will attack you and your dragon, mattering from which the ai decides.

If you're able to, move your dragon to here or as close as possible to it:
Just one tile after where the Hobgobbler was.

Afterwards, when the enemy turn is done, make sure to select your dragon, if not already, and move your camera to see where te flag is:
Very close to the archaeologist and the goal itself.

And to finish it all off, just move to the flag:

And it is completed!

Longer part of the guide is finished.
We can continue onto the main reason we are here, the rewards that will give us the gold and, in some cases, gems.
Reaping the rewards
So, we finished the level, we got the optional objective too, so we get the maximum amount of chests possible.

Now we get the rewards.

For example I got these:
All of them are good, of course, the gold amount is "decent", but not why I made this guide.
What we are truly after is whatever gear you've gotten, for me, it's the shoulder pad.

Make sure to solve every chests's quiz for max gear possibility.

This can give you gems aswell, which is where the possible gem gaining oportunity comes in.
There is always a smaller percent of chance you're able to get 5 gems every time you open a chest.
So if you're lucky, you can get quite a nice amount every time you open chests and get the quiz, if you, however, only need gold, then the gear is the best.

And now that you got everything, all chests are open and done, if any of the gear is better compared to yours (you can just check it by clicking on it once), feel free to keep it and sell the worse gear later on, otherwise, you can just leave every gear you do not need on the right side:
Like this.

If you have any gear on the left you don't need, you can double click it and the game will place it onto the right side for you.

And now, you can just press continue to have every item dismantled and get the gold amount they are worth:
You get both the gold and the scraps, the latter will let you change any gear's stats at the forge on new berk.
Final words
And this concludes the guide!

Thank you very much for reading through and hopefully it was usefull to you and you'll be able to achieve your fortune and any item you wanted to buy with gold and gems!

If you have any questions, suggestions or find any errors that I might've missed, feel free to let me know in the comments below!

Wishing you all a wonderfull day/month/year and good luck with the tactics!
