How to make your Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 playable in 2024

Hello to all CoD 4 players out there, as you all know the CoD 4 Steam version is kinda broken and it's better to play Singleplayer, because if you play Multiplayer your game will crash, or will make your PC freeze and then you have to restart it.

With this quick guide, I want to show you how to quickly fix your Multiplayer so that you can have the best experience possible. I will show you how to do it step by step.

1) Game files
So to fix your game you need to have it already installed .You must have a clean install of the game and not modded. For those who are new with Steam and don't know where your game files are you can find it pretty easily, I will show 2 options : 1) Right click on the game properties/browse local files
2) Click on Files Manager/ This Computer choose the drive you have steam installed for most people is named C: then / Program Files (x86) / Steam / Steamapps / Common / Call of Duty 4 ( That's the folders name) Click on it.
2) Download the Multiplayer fix
Now that you are in the CoD 4 folder you need the Multiplayer fix. I recommend you use some type of app to unpack the files like RAR or 7-Zip File Manager. I personally use RAR but 7-Zip works just fine. I will upload the files from my Google Drive so that you don't have to suffer from corrupt files or fake files and a ton of ads or worse (viruses) I would never send suspicious sites because I care for the community so here is the link from my Google Drive : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1r80xcK8O7C7QAekZrjtcKzjQrgLrR-d0/view?usp=sharing
3) "Installing" the Multiplayer fix for CoD4 MW
After downloading the zip folder ( or RAR, 7-Zip ). Now open the cod4x client folder and the only thing you have to do is take all the files from the folder and put them in your Call of Duty 4 folder. If it shows you the pop up to replace files PLEASE REPLACE ALL OF THEM. And that's it BUT to have the best results restart your computer and then play the game. Now you can enjoy it like it never had a problem. Enjoy different servers and save your favourite ones
4) Last touch before enjoying
I forgot to tell you that after you replace the files there is a file called install it's cmd file. Click on it and it will say press any key to continue just press SPACE and that's it. Now you can play. Hmmm weird, first time I hear about freezes. You can try a clean install and reinstall of cod4x this mostly fixes most of the problems, but if you still get freezes then I don't know how to fix it.

hi there it was working for some time than it started freezing and i cant do nothing i need to shut down any guess?

Good evening, I would suggest you to make a clean install of the game and after finish downloading, you can verify the files to see if anything is missing or not installed. Then you can install the multiplayer fix. If it still happens you can try the other method I wrote at the oldest comments.

Hi there, thanks for the easy to follow guide.

I have followed the steps exactly and ran the install cmd. However when i try to start the multiplater: i am receiving an error that says

"impure file iw3mp.exe detected. Fetching the pure version has failed. Put original iw3mp.exe of cod4 version 1.7 into folder or try again"

Any thoughts on how to proceed?

Good Morning Happy new year!!! This is a fix for the CoDMW4 Multiplayer that shows real active servers and players playing it. Sadly by default the CoDMW4 myltiplayer isn't working like it has to. I hope this answers your question

Everyone has options. Also to refund the game you need to have it less than 2 weeks and played less than 2 hours, if you have more it can't be refunded. It's not experimenting it's fixing what needs to be fixed. The game is old enough, it doesn't get updates for years. Thank God that we have the modders that love old games and do devs work for older games to stay alive. If you are lazy to do a simple thing just say so, no need to spread hate because you couldn't play.

if the game is unplayable ask for a refund is not that hard guys! buy it experiment the MP dont WORK REFUND GG Bye Bye
