Description
The Reconnoitre action no longer has a 30% chance to spawn a Trace card, It's now spawns Acorn cards 30% of the time instead.

Acorn cards are a useless card that despawns after 600s to give you an idea of how many extra Trace cards you would have if you weren't using the mod.

I and several others on the steam reviews page seem to be in agreement that the Trace cards spawned by Reconnoitre is the most egregious source of imbalance within the Exile DLC. A bad random roll right off the bat can prevent you from ever getting a chance to interact with a city. There's plenty of other sources of Trace cards, Reconnoitre didn't need to be one of them.

Exiles is a neat mode, but quite heavily RNG based, and overall a lot less tightly designed than the base game is. There's quite a few things that could be tweaked, given the limited options available to the player.

Adjusting operations times would be easy, making traces decay into a cold trail which affected informants sounds doable, but more work to implement.

Makes me wonder about other ways to balance Traces in Exile. Like halving the times of all Reconnoitre and operations/capers so you can do twice as much in a city, or having Traces decay after ~90 seconds into something like "A cold trail" that will make informants stick around but only have a chance of picking up the trail, maybe with a chance to use/sacrifice an Ally, Connection, or Decade to increase the chance to misdirect them. Would give another use for Years and Connections.

yep, should be super easy actually. Let me see about uploading it as a second mod later tonight. I think I'll call is something like "Low Risk Reconnoitre" or something.

Is it possible to just lower the chance of generating a trace instead? I don't inherently mind having a chance of getting a trace from Reconnoitre, but almost 1/3 of the time is a bit high. I think changing the chance to 10% or 12.5% would be fine imo.

Thanks, I had fun doing it.

Turned out to be pretty simple with how easy they made it to mod, and I actually spent more time making the image for the acorn, lol.

The exile is really unbalanced, and not just from the reckoners seemingly everywhere at once. This is a good step in putting some more control in the players hands.
