Tips & Tricks
  • You can throw bones/rocks/wood pieces at monsters to momentarily stun them, allowing you to run past them or make distance. Always try to keep 1 or 2 on hand.
  • I never saw a need to use the phone or grab the chargers, so my inventory always consisted of 2-3 Rations and throwables.
  • When being hunted, sprint in small bursts to better manage your stamina.
  • Try your best not to let your stamina fully deplete. If it does, you'll need to wait for it to fully recharge before you can sprint again.
  • Always keep a mental note of nearby hiding spots.
  • After hiding from a monster, don't leave right away. Stay hiding for a few moments, as it is possible to immediately run back into the monster.
  • You can tell when a monster is in the area when pink smoke fills the room.

Made It Out Cleared the game once
Simply complete the game with any ending.

There are 2 actions that determine your ending.
Searching for Ken
After grabbing the First Aid in the Hospital and heading back to the lobby, Ken will be missing. You can either continue back to the Mansion or go to the far right to look for him. Make a separate save after grabbing the First Aid so we can reload later and choose the opposite action.

The Unique Key
There are a couple of actions you need to perform to find this key. It's needed for 2 endings and a file.
  • After gaining access to the Hospital's 4th floor, run all the way left and you'll get a cutscene of Ken screaming. You have to trigger this before going up to the roof and activating the generator.
  • After getting the ELV Key, ride the elevator 6 times. On the 6th time, the key will fall from the ceiling.
  • Finally, you have to return to the Hospital Safe Room and open the safe inside before going into the 4F Lab (double door room between the elevator hall and the Safe Room hall).

You can make an additional save before opening the safe to cut out a bit of backtracking for specific endings.





Ending A Got Ending A
Don't search for Ken after finding the First Aid and don't use the Unique Key on the safe.



Ending B Got Ending B
Don't search for Ken after finding the First Aid and use the Unique Key on the safe.



Ending C Got Ending C
Search for Ken after finding the First Aid and use the Unique Key on the safe.



Ending D Got Ending D
Search for Ken after finding the First Aid and don't use the Unique Key on the safe.



Never Going Back Obtained all endings
This will unlock after completing all 4 endings.



A Painful Death Killed by an enemy
Die by any means. There's a good chance you'll have to go out of your way to earn this.



Get to the Good Stuff Skipped an event
Simply skip any cutscene. The end credits do not count.
Files I
Paper Finder Finished the game with all files located
There are 34 files to find in the game and all but 1 are extremely easy to spot if you explore thoroughly. The walkthrough below will guide you through them in order and in line with game progression. I tried to use location descriptions as well, in case you're missing a certain note and need to go out of order. Once you have all 34, finish the game for your achievement.

A note on specific endings
Opening the safe containing file 25 will lock you into either ending B or C. Please refer to Made It Out and the specific endings for more info.



(1/34) Journal 1
The first note is found a small ways into the game. After escaping the mines with Emily, you'll have to follow her to a secret Safe Room. The file is on the right side of the room.











(2/34) Owner's Journal 6
Exit the Secret Room to find yourself back in the Chapel. You likely spotted this file in the cutscene with Emily. It's on the left side of the room.











(3/34) Newspaper Article
Exit the Chapel back into the first hallway of the game. Go into the room to your immediate right to spot this on the table.











(4/34) Gossip Article
From the last file, exit the room and go right again. Go past the set of stairs into another hallway with 3 rooms. The first one leads to a Kitchen. Go past that door and instead enter the double doors in the middle of the hall. The note will be on the right side of the room.











(5/34) Journal 3
Go back to the staircase we just ignored and go up. The left side will be blocked with various pieces of furniture, so go right instead. As soon as you find yourself in the next hall, enter the door only a few steps away from you. The file will be on a table inside.











(6/34) Owner's Journal 1
From the last file, enter the conjoining room to the right. You'll immediately spot the note in the foreground.











(7/34) Owner's Journal 4
Exit the middle room entirely and go into the rightmost room now. The note will be on the left.











(8/34) Owner's Journal 5
Continue through the game until the Shovel Monster breaks through the right doorway that was blocked by stacked furniture. After escaping him, go back and make your way to the left side of the hallway (that was also blocked by stacked furniture). In this new hallway, enter the middle room to find the note. This is the same room you find the 1F Storage Key in, so you have to come here regardless.











(9 + 10/34) Journal 4 & Letter
Continue to make your way through the game until you scare off a crow and receive the 1F Reception Key. Head back to where you meet up with Bob and use the key on a locked door nearby. The journal will be inside to the left. Afterwards, pick up the key item to the right to find the other file.











(11/34) Owner's Journal 8
Our next objective is to head back to the mines and open a locked door to the Generator Room. Once you've done that, you'll immediately spot the note on your right.











(12/34) Clipping
Continue through the game for a bit until you meet up with Ken and enter the new Hospital building. Once you have control of Arisa again, move to the right to spot this on a couch in the lobby.











(13/34) On the Inside 3
From the previous note, continue right. Ignore the staircase for now and enter the next hallway. Enter the first door to spot this on the right side of the room.











(14/34) On the Inside 1
Go back to the staircase and head up. Go left and enter the 2nd room (furthest door left) to find yourself in an illuminated examination room. The file is near the examination bed.











(15/34) On the Inside 2
Leave the room and go right now. In the next hallway you'll find 2 staircases that go up to the 3rd floor and a set of double doors between them. Go up the left staircase and enter the door on your immediate right to find the note inside.











(16/34) Journal 5
Exit the room and enter the next one over (next to the right staircase).











(17/34) Research Notes 1
Exit the room and enter the hallway to the right. Go inside the first room you see to find the file.
Files II
(18/34) Journal 2
Head back to the 3F double staircase hall and enter the leftmost hallway. Go inside the first room you spot to find the note on a bed to the left.











(19/34) Soaked Journal
After grabbing the First Aid, exit the Hospital and make your way back towards the Mansion. You'll come to a forest path with a statue you can hide behind and a path going down. Take the path down to find the 2F Bedroom Key, then drop down a set of ledges to your left. At the bottom, go into the next zone to spot the file next to a creak.











(20/34) Owner's Journal 2
Enter the Mansion from the forest leading to the Hospital and go up the staircase in front of you. Go left into the next zone and open the door just before the one leading to another hall. Once inside, go into the conjoining room to find the file.











(21-22/34) Owner's Journal 3 + Helpful Message
After delivering the First Aid, return to the Hospital. If you were exploring on your own, you likely noticed 2 locked doors on the 3rd floor. One in each of the side halls. Return to the 3rd floor and locate the 3F Key Ring between the 2 staircases. Enter the left hall and unlock the door to find these 2 files inside. One is on the bed to your left as you enter, and the other is a little further to the left.











(23/34) On the Inside 4
Continue through the game until you unlock the door where you heard Ken (far left side of the 4th floor). Once inside, the file will be in the center of the room.











(24/34) A.T.R.S. Cult
From the previous file, interact with the bookshelf on your right to find a new Safe Room. The file is on the table inside. This file is story related and can't be missed. Also keep note of the safe in this room. Not only does it contain a note, but ties directly to the endings.











(25/34) Ken's Journal
Head back to the 4F elevator and ride it up/down 6 times. After the 6th ride a key will fall from the roof of it. This key will open the safe in the Hospital Safe Room, which houses the file. You have to grab the key and the file before entering the Lab (double door room between the elevator hall and the Safe Room hall).

(26-27/34) Research Notes 2 & Owner's Journal 7
Ride the elevator back down and enter the next room to find yourself in a morgue. These 2 files are to the left side of the room.












(28-30/34) Subject Report, Research Report & On the Inside 5
After grabbing the Lab Key, take the elevator back up and go all the way left to the next hallway over. In the middle is a set of double doors we can now unlock. Once inside, go left to find the first 2 files, then, go right to find the 3rd.











(31-33) Strange Letter, Clinical Record 1 & Clinical Record 2
From the previous files, enter the conjoining room on the right. The next 3 notes are inside.











(34/34) Door Activation
You will automatically pick this up during a cutscene near the end of the game. It can't be missed.
