Smooth Drifting (no really!)
By Perflexed
Despite how janky the physics can feel in this game it IS in fact POSSIBLE to DRIFT SMOOTHLY! This is the setting you need to change...

Disclaimer:
Okay first things first, this will not suddenly make you drift like that one scene in Fast&Furious (you know the one). The driving mechanics in this game absolutely have a learning curve but you'll get used to it with practice.
Car Build:
This isn't like Heat where you can drift anything with almost any parts. Almost any car will do but you need to make sure you have the right parts and make sure your car's handling (adjusted in handling settings) is swayed towards drift rather than grip.

Also make sure to install auxiliary parts since they can increase the amount of boost you get while drifting, drafting, etc.
They've Got It All Wrong: (the setting you need to change)
Many YouTubers I've seen will tell you to turn steering sensitivity up to high however I beg to differ and advise going the complete opposite direction. Much of the reason why drifts suck is that the car goes TOO sideways to drift a corner without losing more speed than you gain from the subsequent boost. Often times the result is that the drift doesn't carry you to the end of the corner and you have to correct which loses you even more speed!

Drop that steering sensitivity down low and you'll be able to take a much better racing line (similar to using a grip build) while still getting the benefits of drifting. The result is more of a powerslide than a Tokyo Drift-style vanity drift that isn't particularly practical for racing.

I also recommend going with "brake only" to drift rather than both gas or brake so you can slow down without being thrown into a drift when weaving traffic.

Enjoy:
Most importantly have fun and maybe consider checking out some of my clips on my steam page =D

The drift handling is very good, people are very ignorant when they complain about handling

Excellent tips, its nice to see someone who actually understands the driving mechanics instead of blaming the car or tuning .
