Simple First Aid Kit

Description
[NOTE: I am aware that you can just stack medic uniforms in a backpack and be a walking med cabinet. This addon is more for immersion and varied utility]

This handy item allows you to carry up to four different medical items in one compact package, freeing up valuable inventory space for other essentials. Each slot stacks up to 2 items, allowing you to carry 8 items with you.

Heal UI will automatically recognize medical items stored within the kit.

Craftable using a fabricator, available for purchase from outposts, or discoverable at stations, wrecks, and abandoned outposts

The idea was to create a happy medium between carrying meds in your hotbar and wearing medic uniforms. The Kit can be stored within mobile containers (toolbelts, backpacks etc.)

Please rate the addon if you like it! Constructive criticism and suggestions for other items are welcome!

If you're looking for something with more capacity. Check out the Simple Med Pack addon:

I have not personally tested if it works with Neurotrauma. The kit can store any items that have either 'chem' or 'medical' tag. So if the author of NT has provided his custom items with these tags, it should work.

Work with NT?

Hey, thanks for integrating my suggestion, I appreciate it when modders take into account feedback. I hope you make more good stuff, I like what you’ve got so far!

Thanks for the feedback pyr0kid!

I do not think that this is a problem I should address by further restricting how the item can be stored. While I do get your point on being able to fit all the game's medical items in a briefcase; it is still massively less efficient method of storage when compared to other methods, such as what GranolaBean suggested.

For comparison a storage container filled with first aid kits has the max item capacity of 96; same as the storage container itself (Item stackability taken into account for). In the end first aid kit offers a possibility for more variable item slots, but at the cost of stackability.

If a player wants to be a walking medical supply cabinet by carrying most of the game's medical items with him at all times. I think they should be allowed to. However it's extremely inconvenient when considering the utilization rate between some items (e.g bandages vs antirad).

pyr0kid well do consider you can place 3 medical items in a regular medick uniform, which you can store inside tool-belts etc for a total of 36 inventory slots. and arguably there is only 4 useful items to carry. bandages, morphine, blood, claxenhyde.

for the record i think 8 items was a good balance choice.

that said i found a problem, aid kits fit inside small places like toolbelts/briefcases, which is a ridiculous amount of storage.

it turns out you can fit 2 of literally everything on the barotrauma wiki's page of medical items, inside a single briefcase full of aid kits.

so uh, personally, i would recommend making aid kits not fit inside toolbelts and briefcases, like how planter boxes dont fit inside but you can still carry them in your toolbar, so its not exploitable for massive storage.

This is a really cool, and super helpful, mod. Excellent choice on the tweak, too. Genuinely makes it feel like carrying a proper kit.

Thank you for the valuable feedback. I've decided to make changes accordingly.
Makes sense for a first aid kit to contain a variety of different items in small volume compared to just two things en masse.

As for anyone not happy with the fact that the kit now only holds 8 items in total instead of the previous 16. I'm gonna make a separate mod for a variant with more capacity.

ill third that king, as i assume people know you can simply hold a medick uniform in your inventory and it offers more space. however you could probably just place this inside the uniform for a total of 6 spaces, and in that case you don´t need the extra slots

Also means that it has the leg up over using medic clothes as your medkit because then you could carry bandages, blood, morphine and a ABX in one little package.
