Knife Basics
Parry an enemy with a knife.
To perform a Parry when faced with a melee weapon like an axe, time your defense just right. This means defending at the exact moment the enemy attacks. Your knife will then hit their weapon, deflecting it. You'll learn how to perform a Parry during a tutorial in Chapter 2. You may even earn a trophy during this tutorial if you haven't already. Another way to Parry is to attack with your knife when the enemy attacks, causing both weapons to collide and deflect each other.
My Preferred Piece
Upgrade a weapon.
To upgrade your weapon, speak with the merchant and select 'Tune Up' to exchange money. The trophy will be awarded after upgrading a weapon for the first time.
A Masterpiece
Get the exclusive upgrade for a weapon.
In the castle, there are exclusive upgrades available for your weapons. You can obtain these upgrades in two ways:

1. Fully upgrade a weapon in all categories using money.
2. Exchange 30 Spinels for a ticket that allows you to immediately obtain the exclusive upgrade.

You can earn Spinels by completing requests for the merchant across the three locations, and some
enemies (such as Plagas-Knights in Chapter 9) may drop a few. Although Spinels are rare, you can collect more than 30 during the Village part of the game and get an exclusive upgrade immediately upon arriving at the Castle.
Nice One, Stranger!
Complete a request for the Merchant.

This achievement can be obtained during the first chapter of the game.
Talk About Near-Death Experience!
Rescue Ashley as she’s being carried away by the enemy.

In Chapter 5, Ashley will join you and it becomes your responsibility to protect her from enemies. When an enemy attacks Ashley, they will grab her and start walking away. To save her, shoot the enemy or get close and attack trigger stabbing. You must wait until the enemy starts walking away with Ashley before attempting to save her. If you shoot the enemy while they are still picking her up, you will not unlock the achievement.

Revolt Against the Revolting
Destroy a Clockwork Castellan.

Harpoon Hurler
Defeat Del Lago.
This is an automatic trophy related to the story, and it cannot be missed. You will receive it at the end of Chapter 3 after fighting Del Lago, a fish-like creature, on a boat in a large lake. During the fight, you must throw harpoons at the creature while avoiding obstacles such as branches in the water.
Grilled Big Cheese
Defeat Bitores Méndez.
This is an automatic story-related trophy that can't be missed in Chapter 6 by defeating the final boss of the Village section, Mendez. The fight takes place in a burning house and has two phases. During the first phase, stay on the upper level of the arena, parry or dodge to avoid getting hit, and shoot the eye on Mendez's back after a successful parry. In the second phase, Mendez swings on wooden beams and throws burning beams at you. Dodge by running left or right, or shoot two barrels to explode. Avoid his stab by moving away from his line of attack, and use short-range weapons when up close. Focus on dodging and use long-range weapons when he is far away.
Wave Goodbye, Right Hand
Defeat the Verdugo.

In Chapter 10, you will fight Verdugo, but you don't have to kill him to progress through the game. However, to get the trophy, you must defeat him. To do this, follow the long corridor to a dead end and enter the room on the right to activate the power in the area. This will open a new path at the dead end leading to a room with another switch that activates the power support for the elevator you'll use after defeating Verdugo.

While heading to the room with the elevator switch, Verdugo will attack you from the floor and ceiling. Dodge his attacks with the circle button. In the elevator room, Verdugo will come out of hiding, and the fight will begin. To defeat him, activate the switches on the walls to trigger a liquid nitrogen shower, lure him into those traps, and blast him with shotgun shells and grenades. After beating him up, he'll run away and hide again, and you'll have to repeat the process. Use the remaining 3 liquid nitrogen showers on him in the corridors while dodging his attacks.

Defeating Verdugo will call the elevator immediately and save some time. If you're not comfortable fighting him in later runs, you can dodge, parry, and run away from him until the elevator arrives.

No Thanks, Bro!
Defeat Ramón Salazar.
Salazar is the final boss of the castle area in the game, but the fight has been reworked a lot compared to the original game. He moves through the arena all the time, dropping small mines on the floor that damage you when close. His main attack is telegraphed by a screech, after which he spits acid in a straight line at you. Once you dodge it, his "cage" will be open for a short time, giving you an opportunity to attack his weak spot. He also has an insta-kill grab attack that will eat you up if you don't move away when he gets close.

On higher difficulties and speedruns, it's recommended to use a Rocket Launcher to kill Salazar in one hit to save time and resources.
You Used to Be a Good Guy
Defeat Jack Krauser.
In Resident Evil 4, you will fight Krauser twice - in Chapter 11 and Chapter 14. To earn the trophy, you need to defeat him in Chapter 14. The first phase of the fight takes place in old ruins where you must take cover from his attacks. After reaching a valve, Krauser will ambush you and you must damage him until he throws a flash grenade and retreats. In the second phase, you must navigate through the ruins filled with traps and get closer to Krauser while taking cover behind destructible walls. Once you reach the stairs, he will throw grenades at you but you can run past them. The third phase is the final fight where you must parry or dodge his attacks and deal damage when he exposes himself. When he jumps up a cliff and performs an AoE attack, climb up one of the ladders to avoid it.
You’re Small Time!
Defeat Osmund Saddler.
The final boss of the game involves damaging the eyes on its legs in order to attack its face. This process will need to be repeated until the boss is defeated. During the fight, the boss will move to the central tower and summon hordes of Novistadors to attack you. Once the boss has been defeated, you will be caught between its tentacles and will have to dodge its attacks until Ada throws you a Special Rocket Launcher to finish it off.
Shield Your Eyes
Defeat 3 enemies at once with a flash grenade.
You can easily earn this trophy in Chapter 3 of the game. Once you exit the church, you will come across the entrance of the Quarry. Look for a blue merchant request letter on the wall and just after that, you will find a group of crows on the ground. Use a flash grenade to kill all the crows at once and unlock the trophy.

Never Heard It Coming
Defeat a Garrador using only knives.
Garradors are enemies with claws on their hands and are blind. They can't see you, so you can crouch behind them and get a free hit. Wait for them to calm down before repeating the process. The best place to do this is against the first Garrador in the dungeon of Chapter 7.
Two Bugs, One Stone
Kill 2 parasites inside a Regenerador with a single bullet.

In Chapter 13 of the game, you will come across Regenerators for the first time. The first two Regenerators you encounter are tough to beat since you cannot see their weak spots. The best way to deal with them is to shoot off their leg and run away. Later, when you obtain the Level 2 security card and need to upgrade it to Level 3, you will require a wrench for the card terminal. In the same room, you can find a Thermal Vision Scope (Biometric Scope) that you can attach to a sniper rifle or a machine gun. Attach it to a sniper rifle and aim to see the weak spots. The Regenerator in the second tank on the left is the easiest to defeat. Since they do not move from the tanks until you shoot them, you can line up a shot with the sniper rifle to destroy two parasites at once. Any sniper rifle is strong enough to destroy two weak spots with one bullet; you do not need any damage upgrades.

You Talk Too Much!
Throw a grenade into Ramón Salazar’s mouth.
During the fight against Salazar, throw a grenade at him when his mouth is open.
Overkill
Use a cannon to defeat a zealot
To obtain this trophy, you must use one of the two cannons available in the game. The first one can be found at the start of Chapter 7, and the second one in Chapter 8. Use the cannon to defeat a regular enemy, as shooting other cannons won't count towards the trophy.
Hope You Like Thrill Rides!
Make it through both minecart sections in the underground tunnel without taking any damage.
In Chapter 11, you will encounter 2 minecart sections with Luis that you need to get through. There is a small break between them. Memorize the enemies and shoot them as early as possible to avoid taking damage. When you see sparks on the tracks, lean in the same direction as Luis to avoid getting derailed. When there are wooden boards in your way or yellow switch-signs, shoot those. Luckily, you can simply reload the autosave if you get hit. If you finish the first section without getting hit, but get hit on the second one, you can still reload the autosave during the second section and it will still count. You can see the minecart health in the bottom right corner of the screen, and it can't take any hits.
Capacity Compliance
Reach the top of the clock tower without the lift stopping once.
In Chapter 12, when you reach the clock tower, you'll have to take an elevator. For the trophy, you can't let any enemies jump onto the elevator. Shoot the enemies before they get a chance to jump on, or you can attempt it during your Infinite Rocket Launcher run in New Game+. A fully upgraded TMP also works well here. If an enemy does get on, reload the last autosave to try again. There's an autosave just before activating the elevator, but don't backtrack down the clocktower to the previous merchant because it will overwrite your autosave, and you'll have to spend a minute running up the tower each time you retry. As long as you don't backtrack, the checkpoint will remain in front of the elevator.

If you have difficulties getting this trophy on the first playthrough, get the infinite rocket launcher and try with it, it will be much easier.
Smooth Escape
Escape on the water scooter without taking any damage.
In Chapter 16, during the final part of the game, you will be on a jetski, traveling through tunnels. The health of your jetski is shown at the bottom right corner of the screen. To get the trophy, you must not hit any obstacles. If you see sparks from scraping a wall, it's okay as long as the health of the jetski does not decrease. This section is timed, but you have plenty of time and can slow down to navigate safely. You do not need to rush. If you do take damage, pause the game and reload the last autosave to try again.

Astute Appraiser
Sell a single treasure for at least 100000 ptas.
To obtain a treasure worth 100,000 ptas, you need to combine an Elegant Crown with 5 gems of different colors. The gems required are a Round Blue gem, a Round Yellow gem, and Squared gems in Red, Green, and Purple colors. Alternatively, you can combine the Elegant Crown with 2 Yellow Diamonds and 3 Red Beryls. In the game, there are 2 Elegant Crowns that you can find. One is located at the end of the flooded sewer section in Chapter 11, just before breaking down the wall to climb up the ladder to the merchant. The second Elegant Crown is in Chapter 13, in a side area just before entering a facility with a tripwire at the door and a typewriter inside.

Promising Agent
Complete the main story on Standard mode or higher.
To obtain this achievement, you just need to complete the game on the Standard difficulty or higher. It will be unlocked automatically while you are pursuing the other S+ rank trophies.
Mission Accomplished S+
Complete the main story on Standard mode with an S+ rank.
Check S+ Rank Investigator.
Proficient Agent
Complete the main story on Hardcore mode or higher.
Check S+ Rank Investigator.
S+ Rank Investigator
Complete the main story on Hardcore mode with an S+ rank.
To obtain Hardcore S+ rank in Resident Evil 4, you must complete a new game (not New Game+) in under 5 hours and 30 minutes of total playtime. The only thing that determines your rank is your playtime, so the number of enemies you defeat, how often you save, or how many times you die doesn't matter. S+ rank is not achievable in New Game+, so you must start a new game from the beginning.

The easiest way to achieve S+ rank on hardcore difficulty is to first finish the game on New Game+ Professional with an A-rank. This will unlock the Chicago Typewriter bonus weapon. In the Village section, complete merchant requests to obtain 25 or more Spinels. These requests are typically on your main path and only take a few minutes to complete. After collecting 30 or more Spinels, use them to trade with the Merchant for the Exclusive Upgrade ticket, which you can use on the Chicago Typewriter to unlock infinite ammo for it. This will make the game much easier, and you should not have much trouble against enemies. It is still recommended to purchase two Rocket Launchers to defeat Salazar and Saddler quickly.

It's important to note that if you get a Game Over, it adds to your total time. To work around this, click "Quit to Main Menu" in the Game Over Screen, then load the last autosave from the Main Menu to reset your time to the last save before you died. Don't click "Continue" or "Load Game" in the Game Over Screen, as this will not reset your time.
Peerless Agent
Complete the main story on Professional mode.
Professional Mode is the toughest level in the game. It comes with some unique challenges:

Autosaving is disabled, so you'll need to manually save using typewriters or chapter transitions.
Perfect parrying is your only option for defense, and spamming the button won't work. You have to time your parries using the L1 button.
Enemies are extremely aggressive and deal a lot of damage.
To unlock special weapons, you must finish Professional Mode with an A-rank and without using any bonus weapons. It's recommended to attempt this in two separate playthroughs.
To make things easier, consider using the Knight Armor for Ashley or unlocking the Chicken Hat by completing the game on Hardcore with an S+ rank.
Save often in different slots, collect treasures to sell for cash, and be strategic with your ammo and grenades.
In summary, Professional Mode is the most challenging level in the game, with no autosaves, limited defensive options, and tough enemies. To succeed, you'll need to be strategic with your resources and play smart.
Sprinter
Complete the main story within 8 hours.
The Speedrun Trophy in the game is not very difficult to obtain as the game can be completed in under 8 hours. If you attempt a New Game+ Speedrun, you can finish the game in less than 3 hours. This trophy is automatically obtained while aiming for the S+ rank trophies, which require completing the game in even less time than 8 hours.
Frugalist
Complete the main story without using a recovery item.
One challenge in the game is to finish it without healing, which means you cannot use herbs or health sprays. It's recommended to attempt this challenge on New Game+ mode, set to Assisted Difficulty, where your health is already at maximum and you have access to an infinite weapon. You can also use the Merchant to refresh your body armor and reduce the damage you take.
Minimalist
Complete the main story using only knives and handguns. (Excluding specific battles.)
The best way to complete the game using only pistols and knives (with a few exceptions) is to play on New Game+ mode with Assisted difficulty. Upgrade your pistol and the Primal Knife, which you get for destroying all 16 Castellans, to their maximum levels to prepare for the challenge.

There are only a few exceptions to the rule of using only pistols and knives:

  • You can shoot explosive barrels throughout the game
  • You can use harpoons during the Del Lago boss fight (Chapter 3)
  • You can kill enemies with cannons in the castle (Chapter 7+8)
  • You can have enemies get killed with the wrecking ball (Chapter 14)
  • You can kill enemies with machine guns on the Island (Chapter 15)
  • You can use the Special Rocket Launcher at the end of Saddler Boss Fight (Chapter 16)
Silent Stranger
Complete the main story without talking to the Merchant once.
One way to challenge yourself in the game is to complete it without talking to the merchant at all. This is best done on a New Game+ playthrough where you have either an upgraded inventory or an infinite weapon, eliminating the need to visit the merchant. This challenge can be combined with another challenge, such as a pistol/knife only playthrough, to make it even more difficult.
Amateur Shooter
Complete a game at the shooting range.
Check Real Deadeye
Real Deadeye
Earn an S rank in all games at the shooting range.
To complete this challenge, you must achieve an S rank on all 12 stages of the shooting range. There are five shooting ranges located near merchants throughout the game, starting in Chapter 3 and ending in Chapter 15. Each shooting range adds three new challenges, except for the final one, which only lets you replay previous challenges. If you miss one shooting range, it's not a big deal, as the next one will have the previous challenges as well.
You can complete all of the challenges in one go at the final shooting range in Chapter 15 if you ignored them until then. Once you finish a challenge, you can see the requirement to unlock the Bonus Round of that challenge. Complete the bonus objective to gain enough points to secure an S rank. You can also use the Tokens in the vending machine at the shooting range to unlock Charms for your suitcase, which provide small bonuses like running faster or getting a discount at the merchant.
Trick Shot
Shoot through and destroy 5 targets at the shooting range with a single shot.
This can be done easily in the last shooting range challenge in Chapter 14 (4-C). You will have a continuous line of targets to shoot at, so just use a piercing weapon to shoot through all of them.

For minimalist, is it allowed to throw the golden Eggs at Salazar in his boss fight? Technically not a weapon but insane damage, so I wonder.
