Steps to take
1. Start new game
2. Defeat all pirates in the tutorial (Use all armaments, especially the laser, if unable to get past the trio of pirates)
3. After destroying the pirates thoroughly, you will be forced to jump to a belt for mining iron ores. Do this and keep mining until the cargo hold is full.
4. Jump to the Kowai/Washbo gate, save the slaves and get 20000 credits.
5. Once docked at Washbo Toalla hub Universal AI will talk about some time paradoxes. This is where several options can be chosen to start with useful skills. Pick Trade Genius. Don't worry about the the other skills shown because they can be acquired easily by doing errands for specific corporations/factions and raising reputation with them.
6. End tutorial in Toalla hub and sell all ores.
7. Access the hangar, use Hnoss(the newly acquired transport ship) and package Agon(the ship used previously).
8. Go to the market under the vehicle section to sell the packaged Agon.
9. Now with around 300000 credits, buy the Poseidon. Scroll down the vehicle section if unable to find.
10. It might not seem like it but congratulations, you now own the 'best ship' in game!

You might now own the 'best ship' but it is not truly the 'best ship' yet without the correct modules. Continue reading below.
Modules to buy and mount
To maximise the potential of the Poseidon, buy and mount these modules while at Toalla hub.

High slot:

Build explanation
Almost every ship in this game gets a bonus, be it some extra damage in certain weapons, extra range, extra speed etc. All are expressed in percentages. Which means the better the modules or the more modules are stacked, the more effective the affected modules/weapons.

Using the aforementioned game mechanic, it is possible to stack damage, resistances or speed into absurdity.

The above build for the Poseidon is specifically for starting out. Using the modules that can be bought immediately.

The high slots are three medium lasers, the mainstay of the Poseidon and will get you through any fight. These lasers utilise the +100% damage bonus the Poseidon provides. Since the Poseidon can only mount 3 guns and nothing else, the remaining three slots are mostly up to the choice of the player. Here, the energy vampire and remote armor repair is used due to their utility. The former provides extra energy during fights and the latter provides an option to repair ships for completing a dynamic quest. Doing dynamic quests provides a corporation/faction reputation boost.

The mid slots are mostly used for shield resistances and webbers. Stacking resistances like this reduces direct damage of the specified type. The webber t1 from the Agon sold in the previous section can be used here. The ship webber bonus for +300% range and -90% energy use is applied here.

The low slots are aimed at making the Poseidon go as fast as possible. The easiest way to do this is either stacking hull mod or prop drive modules. Here the prop drive is used due to the greater speed modifier. In exchange, the signature radius is increased, which means enemies have an easier time locking on to your ship. However, this is not a concern because this build is able to take hits or evade them due to the high shield resistances and high speed.

In the next stage of the story, you will recruit this wingman called Akio, who drives a fast interceptor. When conversing with him, he will explain how high ship speed is very beneficial. To summarise, a fast ship makes escaping warp limits trivial and in combat they can evade damage easily. This is also the reason why the Rocketeer starting option was not chosen. Simply due to the fact that the warp navigator skill does not have as much a benefit when using a Poseidon with this build.
To be continued...
If you have read this far, thank you.

Dangerous has a selection of ships but only a few are truly excellent with the right builds. It is only natural that a guide for ship builds should be underway to elaborate on them. Stay tuned.
