"What is DEEP ROCK GALACTIC?"
"The interplanetary mining corporation DEEP ROCK GALACTIC specializes in securing the most dangerous dig sites in the galaxy. When they need a team for the toughest missions, they call in the Dwarves - mercenary miners, legendary for their ability to survive underground, and infamous for their brutality in combat.

Join a team of up to 4 players to fight, dig and explore your way through enormous cave systems, uncover the greatest riches, and make it out alive."
"Who I am?"
A Dwarf, but you can always choose to work as one of the five classes:

Scout - As a Scout, your job is, as it name implies, scout around the caves, always getting that extra Nitra for you and your team, giving some good exploration around, being a agile dwarf running from trouble, and taking a lot of fall damage from your own mistakes. And dont forget to always light up the caves, because a good team, is a team that knows where they shooting at!

Engineer - Working as a Engineer, means that your a mass exterminator dwarf sized, starting with your good 'ol shotgun and your mighty grenade launcher, and your small mechanic boy alongside you to assist you on the most chaotic situations. Also don't forget to always place that good and helpful platform on the ceiling to help that poor bastard of a Scout getting that extra 0.1 Nitra.

Gunner - Shooting some bugs and shielding your friends its your job, pretty straight foward, big weapons for big enemies, but always keep your secondary ready when needed, 2.400 bullets of depleted uraniun might not be enough sometimes, belive it or not. Did I mentioned that you have a Zipline for special dwarves? Yes, you can use it, its pretty slow, but it gets handy sometimes to traverse some clifs and big distances.

Driller - Is it possible to commit war crimes against bugs? Who cares anyways? Elves?
Your jobs as a driller is to light up some bugs(in the literal way), open some paths and space with your powerful drills and explosives, but be careful, I don't think management want to heard about dwaves getting home with limbs missing from friendly fire.

A Dead Man - I don't think you want to be or see this 5th "class", do you? So take care of your mates and yourself, and remember: Leave no Dwarf Behind

"What is my job?"
You, my dear Greenbeard, is going to explore deep caves looking forward to exterminate the local fauna while digging for some shinny stuff that God knows why is used for. Maybe its valuable? Maybe it just tastes good? I don't know. But what I know is, you must dig, mine, and kill some bugs, either with your guns or with your own bare hands. It might be dangerous (Certainly is!), but someone have to do it, and of course we're talking about you! (since you're getting paid for it).

Working for DEEP ROCK GALACTIC means that you're going to do all sort of things besides just shooting some big angry roaches!

Here's everything:

During the mission you will find two resources that can give you ammo and health

Nitra is easy to find, but limited, everytime you manage to collect 80 Nitra, you can press "5" and ask for a resuply pod with 4 uses for each dwarve, each use gives you 50% of all your ammo and health back. Ask before "Double Dipping".

Red Sugar Is your main health source during missions, it provides you with good sustain.
These two resources are common during any mission at any biome.

And here it is a quick explanation of all of your missions:

Minign Expedition
The easyest of them all, go in, mine the dark blu-cyan stuff in the wall, and get out. But, it won't pay you much, keep that in mind.

Egg Hunt
This time, we'll be looking for eggs, alien eggs, between 4 and 8 eggs depending on the mission, and be careful, the bugs will get really mad at you after grabing one.

On-Site Refinary
Easyer said than done, the On-Site Refinary mission conssists of you building 3 pipes connecting to the 3 liquid morkite geysers, start the refinery and keeping the pipes working all the time 'till all is taken.

Salvage Operation
When a crew don't manage to get back home, they endend up leaving some of DEEP ROCK's equipment behind like some broken mules and a whole drop pod. And it's your job to fix it, powering up and bring them back.

Scort Duty
Prepare yourself 'cause we'll be dealing with heavy machinery this time. You Must scort and protect Doretta(the Drilldozer), refuel her back, and making sure she keeps through its precourse. At the end, you'll be defending Doretta while she gets through the Ommoran Heartstone. Don't forget to bring her back home.

Elimination
Now you gonna need a good strategy, sharp aim, and ammo, lots of ammo, 'cause Dreadnoughts are tough. You'll need to locate big eggs on the caves, exterminate 2 or 3 bosses on this mission and leave alive(preferable with all of your limbs attatched to your body).

Industrial Sabotage
The Caretaker, the big bad rival triangle boss, this mission will require you to call for 2 hacking pods, and defend their asses while the nerd job is done, after hacking the two Power Generators from the Caretaker, then you can start blasting the damn thing in the eyes.

Point Extraction
Now, when big crystals starts to emiting lights in a cave, it's our job to get them, specially Aquarqs. Dig where they're located at, and bring them to deposit on the Mine Head.

And

That's not all, during your main objectives, You'll also can do some secondary mission grating you some extra money at the end, these secondary objectives are choosen at random:

Collect 10 Alien Fossils

Collect 15 Apoca Blooms

Collect 20 Boolo Cap

Collect 100 Dystrum (It is currently exclusive to the Point Extraction and On-site Refining missions)

Collect 14 Ebonuts

Exterminate 10 Fester Fleas

Collect 12 Gunk Seeds

Collect 35 Hollomite

"Where the hell am I working at?"
Hoxxes IV of course, this small and problematic planet, full of life (And precious minerals), it is
basically your new office, but instead of dealing with a bunch of paperwork and burocracy, You, my dear friend, will be dealing with a lot of hazardous environments the deeper you go.

"What does it looks like?"
Even tho I already showed you what the planet looks like, it just came to my mind the it needs to be shown to you what does it looks like inside the big rock. When we dissecate this planet, we can see it's layers like a stinky onion(?)
Starting by it's first biome:

Sandblasted Corridors

This dry underground desert, with it's agressive nature, and strong winds floating through its tunnels can be pretty tricky sometimes, a simple slide on the wrong spot, can lead you to be separated from your team during it's powerful sandstorms.

Azure Weald

It sounds weird to say that there's a whole biome where not all creatures wants to murder you. This biome with its colorful and bioluminescent flora may looks pretty, but still pretty dark. Watch your step.

Fungus Bogs

Full of mushrooms(don't forget to ping them, mission control loves when you do it), toxic gases, and with some notably dense vegetation for a cave, Fungus Bogs can give the true experience of a bathless dwarf, included with some free green and slimy goo, and a bonus of some explosive plants, all that packed on a single biome. The smelliest of them all!

Hollow Bough

Hoxxes is not only made of stones and wothless crystals, this biome in particular is quite unique, full of not-so-live life, a big hollow tree, all we could ask for, right? Full of vines and spikes, spikes everywhere, and some wasps of course...
At least you can have some fun kickin around some dry thorn tumble around.

Dense Biozone

In Hoxxes for, not only you'll start to grow your hate for bugs, but also plants, because that's what you'll also will have to deal with. Seems like Hoxxes can be a bag full of surprises some times.

Crystalline Caverns

Full of pretty but Worthless crystals, this cave can give you nothing but spider webs, big crystaline formations, and more crystals of course...
Also some of them can shok you, isn't fun?

Salt Pits

Try not to get salty over this biome, because it can't offer you nothing really wothy besides some of its minerals, and annoying rolling bugs and some dangerous salt crystals.

Radioactive Exclusion Zone

Attection New Miner, don't get close to the big and green cancer crystals. This biome could be kinda usefull for DR is it wasn't for the fact that we're full of this radioactive stuff! Hell we're even using some of it as ammo! Also watchout for the cancer bugs too, your beard may never grow again.

Glacial Strata

A big cave of ice, full of common low temperature enviroment problems, ice cycles, thick layers of snow, blizzards, cracks on the ground and really cold vents. Better bring a jacket, might get cold later.

Magma Core

You better take the jacket off now, Magma Core, as it implies, it has magma and its pretty hot. Full of fiery geysers, more explosive plants, quakes, and some hot rocks on your area, the deepest of the biomes can offers you a trully hell of experience. Better bring some suncream.

"What am I equiped with?"
You might be wondering, "Why do we have such big weapons and beards? Aren't we dealing with some bugs after all?" And I proceed to answer you, Yes! Big bad bugs in fact. That's why each and every single dwarf is equipped with standard company equipment.

Every class is equiped with a:
  • Pickaxe
    - for mining stuff, and sometimes killing bugs

  • Primary Weapon
    - Varying from rifles, to flamethowers and some other stuff

  • Secondary Weapon
    - From pistols, to grenade launchers, and much more.

  • Traversal Tool unique for each class
    - Grapling hooks, drills, ziplines and platform guns, each projected to be used diferently from each
    one.

  • Secondary Tool
    - C4 (for blowing up Scouts), Sentry guns, Shields and Flare guns

  • Grenades
    - Varying from class to class

  • Throwable Flares
    - To make your terrible day a little more brighter

  • Armor Rig
    - It protects your dwarf bones, and regenerates over time

  • Laser Pointers
    - Used for pointing and mark things on your view, like ores, mission objetives, objests of interest, other dwarves, enemies and other important things.

During the missions you may also encounter some interesting stuff that some dwarves happen to left behind.

    Jet Boots

"Who the hell we shooting?"
On this section of this guide, it will be included but won't be limited, a simple list of some of the various types of unpleasant encounters you may find down the caves.

Starting by:

  • Glyphids

    Weakpoints : Head and Abdomen

Your most common encounter, easy to deal with them alone, but in larger groups even the smallest of them can present you some risk.

  • Macteras

    Weakpoints : Abdomen

Second most common creatures, offering a problem in even the smallest groups, some of them a complete danger even alone.

  • Naedocyte

Weakpoints : None (Breeders weakpoints on their mouth)

Offering you a truly definition of annoyance, these guys will swarm on you everytime, unless you manage to kill the Naedocyte Breeders, with the exception of the Naedocyte Shokers who can be naturaly found at Dense Biozone or Glacial Strata.

  • Rival Tech

    Weakpoints : Glowing Parts

Fully automated automatons from the Rival Tech, turrets, patrol bots, annoying tiny flying bots, giant robotic tick, you name it, but none of them can stand the power of your pickaxe, with the exception the big floating triangle, he's pretty strong, just need some poke in the eyes.

  • Others

The list don't stop just there, there is always new creatures looking to foward to slash and tear your body, so here is a few of them:

    Cave Leeches

    Weakpoints : None

Cave Leeches, always at the ceiling looking for distracted dwaves who don't look up. Also they can get you from pretty far actually, so Watchout.

    Spitball Infector

    Weakpoints : Bulb

A hard-to-describe stationary creature, they can be found on every biome, always seem to be resting but just until they detect you, then the next thing you see is a acid projectile flying on your face.

    Brood Nexus

    Weakpoints : Eyes

Just like their floating Naedocyte Breeder friends, they just keep making more baby bugs non-stop, the Brood Nexus will keep summoning Glyphid Spawns, they're small and agile but even more fragile, just like their also annoying brothers Glyphid Swarmers.

    Rockpox Infected Bugs

    Weakpoints : Bulbs

These unfortunate bugs have been infected with the Rockpox Plague, shooting them normally won't cause much damage, unless you hit them were it hurts, their Bulbs , were you can easily eliminate these things with a simple pop.

"How much do I get paid anyways?"
You my dear friend, will be getting paid your own weight in Gold! (if you manage to get that), all of the gold you can find in the cave is yours + the payment per mission that can increase depending on the mission type, dificulty of the mission and etc.

The money you make can be used for some sort of things, like buying more beards, armor vanities, a few beers on the Abyss Bar, and other more pratical stuff like buying beer, updgrades for your weapons, to get better equipment, to complete harder missions and make more money, to drink even more beer.

There's also a few things other than just gold you can find down the caves that can give you some good extra earnings. Starting by:

Gold
your most common form of income, every single gram of gold you can carry, all yours! you'll get paid 2 Credits for each unity of gold, and it will be paid exactly the same for everyone, no need to be greedy.

Compressed Gold
Again, all you can carry, it will be paid exacly the same for each dwarf. Don't forget to celebrate everytime you find one of these!

Bitter Gem
These big boys can woth quite some money if you get lucky enough to find them, another celebrations is required!

"ERR://23¤Y%/"
These strange and smelly cubes are quite mysteryous and rare to find, no much information is available a the moment. Be sure to bring em for some extra money.

Tyrant Shards
Tyrant Shards are quite peculiar, you'll have a rare chance of encounter a mini-boss enemy called Korlok Tyrant-Weed, after defeating him, it will drop 3 Tyrant Shards worth quite something.

Data Cell
One of the rare oddities that can be found underground, this time collecting directly from the rivals. Data Cells can be either collected from destroying a Prospector mini-boss, or doing two rare objetives that you can encounter on the caves.

after destroying the Prospector or completing the objetives, you will be granted a Data Cell from them, awarding you some money after finishing your mission.

Also don't forget to get your minerals down the mines!
"Where do I get those resources?"
These resources, my friend, can be found and the caves you're about to explore, each mineral can be found in some specific biomes, and some everywhere else. These materials can be used as crafting materials for weapon upgrades, armor upgrades and a few of them for making your beloved beers.

So here's how and where you find each of one of them(some of them can be seen in two different biomes):

Phazyonite

Phazyonite is a special case, it can be found in every biome, in scarce, but it's mostly abundant at Salt Pits. This resource is used exclusively as an alternative currency at The Shop Terminal on Space Rig.

And there's the Beer crafting materials, those are plants that you can find sometimes at any biome, you'll be using them to craft some special beers with unique effects.

Those materials being: Malt Star, Starch Nut, Yeast Cone and Barley Bulb (Barley Bulbs are just like Phazyonytes, they're used Exclusively as a "currency" for Special beers. Those special beers change everytime at the bar, it gives you a special effect that will help you through a single mission)

I could made this even more detailed, but I was kinda scared of making just too much stuff for a "simple guide"
