This guide covers all of the things you'll need to get every achievement for the game. There are a number of missables that are not included. In the interest of keeping this guide concise, I left out almost everything not achievement related.

If you haven't already played Trails of Cold Steel III, stop and complete that first. This game picks up immediately after the events of the first game and assumes you're already aware of what is happening. It is essentially part 2 of one long story and is not meant to be played as a stand alone.

Trails of Cold Steel IV returns to the two playthrough for all achievements formula. You are unable to get all of the character notes and bonding achievements in a single playthrough. However, you don't need to carry anything over from your first game to get everything the second run.

On your second playthrough you should choose the maximum bonding points option. The character notes/special memories that you miss in the first run are all attached to bonding events on 8/27 during the game. Other than that, you're free to carry over whatever you wish.

A new feature in Cold Steel IV is the addition of a green check mark next to every completed monster entry, recipe, and character profile. This makes it significantly easier to identify what you may be missing in each area. There is also a treasure chest counter on the main tab.

You can backtrack to almost every area during the finale, so don't panic too much if you're missing a fish, recipe, chest, or regular monster entry.

For the "Chronicle of Battle" achievement, enemies must be analyzed, not just defeated, in order to count. This can be done using battle scope, certain characters' detector craft, or using the Analyze quartz. The Dragon Vision quartz will provide the information but only if the character carrying it deals the final blow. Simply fighting monsters will also fill in their entry, but it may take multiple encounters to gather all of the information.

There are a few cryptids that appear in certain areas throughout the game. I did not add them to the enemy list when they're first available as your team is likely too weak to take them on. The last time they are available to fight is on 9/1 during the finale. I made a note with their locations to take care of them then.

The game allows for quite a bit of leeway when it comes to receiving the A0 Rank for the "The Magnificent Class VII" achievement. You will only need 310 of the possible 336 AP to complete this.

The individual male bonding achievements were eliminated in Cold Steel IV. Instead, you'll need to max their bond level to 5 stars and spend a ticket on all of the men on the same playthrough for the "Playing with the Boys" achievement.

With the exception of two characters, the female bonding achievements are all associated with romantic encounters. To earn them, you'll need to maximize their bond, view both of the special bonding moments with each character (marked with a heart on the minimap), spend a ticket on them, and choose to meet up with them the night of the 8/31. Gifts and Vantage Masters provide a boost to the bonding level, but aren't necessary when playing with maximum bonding points.

Use the Moon Lens quartz to see chest locations on the mini map. This is available early in act 1 if you exchange Analyze R and U-material for it at the exchange shop.

You will need to have a record of every version of all of the recipes for the "Ashen Chef-alier" achievement. Keep at least one of every superb, unique, and peculiar dish. You will need to give them to 3 characters throughout the game to increase the unity grade and unlock a master quartz.
