Dangerous World (HL2 Custom Campaign)

Play as a rebel living the isolated life near City 17 during the last hours of the Citadel in this medium-length but ambitious custom campaign. Unfortunately has some caveats and quite large in file size.

Exploration is rewarded well so don't hesitate to go off the main path. There are also some not-so-obvious puzzles and backtracking when exploring.

NOTICE
This campaign pack comes with two additional maps:
'dw_bonus_first' - A short map where you must get past some antlions into a mine. Has a noticeable missing material.
'dw_bonus_killbox' - An arena map where all four Half-Life factions continually spawn to battle to the death.

CAUTION!
The campaign seems pretty unstable in general. Loading into a map midway in the campaign may cause crashing.

CAUTION!
True to the title, there are plenty of wonky environmental hazards in the campaign which can insta-kill you. I recommend turning on god mode or buddha mode since GMod lacks a checkpoint feature.

Maps 'dw_ep1_02a', 'dw_ep1_03' and 'dw_ep1_03a' are horror-themed. Skip to 'dw_ep1_04' to bypass them.

Some fast zombies here require the EP1 and EP2 animations to function which DOES NOT come by default in GMod even if you have those games mounted. You can grab Zombie Animations Fix or Sabrean's Headcrab Zombie Mod to get these animations. (You don't TECHNICALLY need the fix, but the fast zombies will look weird.)

After splitting up with Barney during a fight with a Combine gunship inside a building full of zombies, you may load into the next map with Barney still with you. You MUST remove him (with the Toolgun or the 'c' button) before moving on as his presence WILL break the campaign.

Some Striders must be destroyed with the HL2 Rocket Launcher for some triggers to activate. Be careful in using SWEPs.

Some physics puzzles are finicky so you might need to noclip a bit to get past these.

This addon might replace some props so make sure to disable or uninstall this addon if you are experiencing anything weird spawning HL2 props.

NOTICE: This campaign was tested only in Sandbox singleplayer with only SWEPs and HUD addons. Be mindful of multiplayer and more complex addons like ones that alter the A.I.

REQUIREMENTS: Half-Life 2 Episodes 1 & 2 (plus the mods I mentioned above)

The first map is "dw_ep1_00" located in the "Other" category but this is just the intro cinematic. Gameplay starts at 'dw_ep1_01'.

"You play as one of the human rebels - Frank Harrison, who's currently in his hideout outside City 17.

He's woken up by the Citadel explosion, caused by Dr. Freeman and Alyx Vance at the end of Half-Life 2. The evacuation of the City 17 is in progress and he has to leave his house to fight his way back to City 17 to join a evacuation train while there's still some time.

Gather your supplies and an old HEV suit and explore the territories of the City 17. Play your role in the events, that took place during the original Half-Life 2: Episodes 1 and 2."
