Wards
Wards are kind of bad. They are cost in energy, have 2 hp and go *after* the enemies turn where they get bashed in before being able to do a thing.

There are however some use that can be gained out of wards in very specific situations. The first of which is that these 2 cards in particular are the only two to come close to being decent.

Why these ones? Because of this.

Now you may be thinking that this is very niche or that clearly this guy just wanted to upload selfies of throwing oni king into a prison, and.... You would be correct.

But as this is a guide I shall explain list how I have been getting the best results I can with these.
First off, the blasting wards sucks. If you are trying to use it as damage, by the time you can actually set it up, you could probably have killed whatever it was you were trying to kill with literally any attack card ever. So this dumpster fire of a ward is basically gonna be thrown into the meat shield bin.
Second off, wards can be used as a glorified lure to separate units so you don't have to fight everybody all at once. In a pinch they can also be used to tank one attack action from any unit as long as the ward is closer to them than you are.
Third, while wards hit everything surrounding them, they are just awful at surviving due to their crap hp. So one work around for this is to spawn two wards on one enemy in the same turn, thus requiring two ward cards. The problem is this limits you to handling one enemy at a time. Although it is particularly effective against an isolated boss.
Fourth, using 2 basic ward cards will eat up all of your starting energy assuming you haven't reached any energy upgrades or even better, dojo upgrades. That basically makes it unusable at the start of the game which is a huge problem when you are being timed. But not all missions have you strictly racing against time. The ones where you get enough time to be able to afford carrying around some dead weight cards till upgrading is accessible, being able to draw away enemies with hex wards and hit them with scaling weak, vulnerable, and slows as a cherry on top is definitely one solution albeit a slow one. Better yet, if the mission has no pressure, even a healing ward is basically infinite health as long as you don't die between fights.

That's all folks! Enjoy this picture of a sad Oni King again :)
