Beskrivning
Adds the Goths led by Ostrogoth king Theodoric the Great.
A germanic people who played a role in the fall of the roman empire, the Goths spread across Europe and became the foundation for many unique cultures.
Theodoric was an ostrogothic nobleman who received an eastern roman education, he conquered italy and founded the Ostrogothic Kingdom. From his capital of Ravenna, he restored roman architecture and vital infrastructure.

The Goths
Gothic Migration
  • When settling or conquering a city for the first time receive +1 Population in every Gothic city within 6 tiles

Gadrauht (Replaces Spearman)
The Gadrauht are the militiamen of the Goths, levied fighters for basic warfare.
  • Higher combat Strength (35 vs 30) and reduced production cost (30 vs 65) compared to the Spearman it replaces.
  • Combat Victories grant Culture equal to 50% of the base combat strength of defeated units.
  • Can only be constructed in cities with 2 or more population, and costs 1 Population to produce.

Hlaiw (Shrine)
The Hlaiw is a Gothic tomb, a grand mauseoleum to honour those who came before.
  • +1 Faith, and +1 Culture.
  • Additional +0.25 Faith and +0.25 Culture for each Citizen in the city.

Theodoric
Gothorum Romanorumque
  • +50% Production towards districts in conquered cities, reduced by 10% for each specialty district already present in the city.
  • Gain the Militond unique unit at Iron Working.

Militond (Replaces Swordsman)
The Militond are the legacy of the Goth's experience fighting in the Roman Legions, trained soldiers who understand professional military life.
  • Doesn't require Iron and receives a free Promotion when trained, purchased, or upgraded from an earlier unit.
  • +10 Strength fighting in Gothic Districts.

Romanitas
  • Respects Civilizations that build districts and have large standing armies. Dislikes those that neglect district and army construction.

Could you create a civilization of the Etruscans? Or maybe the Germans with Arminius? Or Illyrians or Dacians? Have you ever thought about something like that? I have several ideas written down for these civilizations, including leaders and unique units, and I'd be happy to share them.The civilizations I mentioned are not randomly chosen; no one has made them yet, and for example, they were playable in civ5 or other games.

Just wrapped up a game with Theodoric. Had a fun time with it. The Hlaiw is very powerful, especially given the fact that it's better than advertised. It was giving me a full 0.5 Faith and Culture per population instead of only 0.25. Also Theodoric's district production bonus was wonky, applying correctly in some cities but not in others, with the negative production modifier occasionally outweighing the positive modifier so that it was taking longer to produce districts in conquered cities than without the ability. Anyway it's a fun mod, hope it gets updated. Thanks

Would it be possible to add in Tomatek's Historical Religions support so the goths dont found some random bloody religion instead of Arian Christianity

Well they may be fun to play, but not so much fun as neighbours on deity, I'm being overrun by a wave of Militond lol

can you add alaric as a secondary leader for the goths? he was one of only two kings who captured rome.

Glad you fixed the missionary bug. I was coming here to see if it was just me or if other people had reported the bug. Not sure that the fix works with a game that has already started. I might have to check again. I uninstalled and reinstalled the mod already, went back to my game and the problem persisted. I might have to give it another shot. I had a really good start with my second city ending up next to Kilimanjaro. And it seems like there's a clear road with no other civs to get myself a city next to the Pantanal too.

Game should be updated to allow Missionaries to be purchased by the Hlaiw.
