Basic counterplay rules
  1. While Bubba is in the camping stage, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RESCUE FROM THE HOOK

  2. Your main focus should be REPAIRING GENERATORS

  3. A 4 man escape is nearly impossible to pull off, as the killer is able to trade hooks consecutively until someone finally dies.

  4. Coordination is your friend - split on generators to repair them quicker as the killer will probably not care enough to guard his gens.

  5. Use your resources: you probably will not even have enough time to use every pallet after all. Do not be greedy - waste as much of the killer's time as possible - even if it means burning a pallet or two.

  6. Self unhooking attempts are viable, but keep in mind that even the basekit Borrowed Time and Off the record that grant the endurance effects do not keep you safe, if a Bubba decides to hit you two times in a row with his chainsaw.

  7. Perks like Reassurance and Kinship are quite useful as they buy your team some time to finish all the generators by the time the hooked person is dead.

  8. Best items to bring against a face-camping Bubba: a Toolbox or a Flashlight

While standing in an opened exit gate, use your CTRL (or key bound to crouch) key repeatedly to alternate between standing and crouching state.

Gameplay basics
  1. Optional: Find the basement prematurely as it will allow you to manage your hook placement better (e.g. choosing hooks that are closer to basement). The basement in the most of the maps is located either in the killer shack or in the main building.

  2. Your main goal is to get a first down as quickly as possible. Do not commit to all chases if you know it will be long. Your chainsaw can down in one hit, thus switching targets mid-chase is favorable.

  3. Once you get your first down, make sure to pick up safely and without interruptions.

  4. Mind your hook placement: always try to hook in basement for a snowball effect, prioritise hooking closer to the basement in the early game; if basement is not an option, avoid hooking next to windows and/or pallets; in the endgame you must also avoid hooking next to the exit gates.

  5. After hooking, you can select one of the playstyles listed below:

    a) Classic face-camping: stay directly in front of the hooked survivor. Do not get distracted by others. Act only if the survivor gets unhooked/unhooks themself. This gives you the most certainty for kill.

    b) Roaming face-camping: when survivors are constantly trying to bother you while camping, you can try to enforce hit-and-run. Always remember to keep track of survivors near the hook to ensure that the unhooker gets traded.

    c) Unexpected face-camping: (only once per game) After hooking a survivor, act like you do not care about the hook. This may give you the surprise effect.

    d) Normal Bubba: after eliminating at least one survivor from the game, you may try to play normally if less than 3 generator have been completed.

Move your mouse vertically in alternating directions and short intervals to make your 3D killer model "nod"

  6. When the hooked survivor dies, refer back to point 2
Handling special situations
a) Self-unhook attempts:
Survivor trying to unhook themself is a very good opportunity for you to save a lot of time. Each attempt reduces hook's timer by 20 seconds. This allows you to go through hook states a lot quicker OR put more pressure on the remaining survivors. Keep in mind that good survivors will not try to do this unless they know it would be profitable to self-unhook (e.g. Deliverance, Slippery Meat, hooked near an open exit gate etc.)

b) One survivor is trying to unhook:
If only one survivor is trying to unhook, the odds to put them into dying state are on your side - try to use your chainsaw (do not get stunned in a tantrum) and if that fails, you can try to hit-unhook-hit and trade the hooked survivor for the unhooker.
All these actions have a risk factor invovled in it, because skill difference and luck may play a big role in not getting the unhooker down and trading for a survivor that may have not been hooked yet and be in a situation mentioned in point a). If you do not want to allow these risk factors to stop you, opt for the actions described in point c) below.

c) More than one (healthy) survivor is trying to unhook:
A group of survivors can be a problem if you are trying to keep the hooked person on the hook. Remember to stay calm and do not fall for any mind games. Act only if the hooked person gets on the ground. Use your chainsaw to hit the unhooker and the unhooked person simultaneously - this puts the unhooker in the dying state and the hooked person into the mending state (removes Borrowed Time, Dead Hard, Off the Record etc.) Then you need to chase the injured survivor with your chainsaw. This is a guaranteed hit (hoping that you have all 3 charges on your chainsaw ready) unless the survivor has a speed boosting perks like Sprint Burst.
Useful killer perks
Basic Bubba perks that help getting the first down
  • Spirit Fury - a surprise for unexpecting survivors

  • Enduring - paired with the perk above guarantees a hit

  • Iron Maiden - disables locker standoffs (higher MMR perk)

Classic face-camping perks
  • Insidious - situational; does not work on SWF and/or higher MMR players; creates opportunity to trick unhookers in basement

  • Deadlock - slows down people splitting on generators (counters coordinated players) and buys you time

  • Corrupt Intervention - slows down the first generators' progress; use this time and down your first survivor

Endgame-related perks that allow a more flexible gameplay
  • Rancor + Nemesis - a surprise for unexpecting survivor; an opportunity to sacrifice one (or) more survivor(s)

  • Remember Me - slowdown perk that buys time after the generators are completed; pairs nicely with the perk above

  • No Way Out - slowdown perk that buys time after the generators are completed

  • No One Escapes Death - useful in certain situations, not worth picking in higher MMR

  • Blood Warden - a surprise for unexpecting survivors; situational; in certain situations guarantees 4 kills

Thank you very much! My sadistic self needs to show itself every once in a while. Better do it in a vide game than in real life

I would argue not to act when group of healthy survivors try to unhook, depends on situation ofc but I'd rather try to get free hits on them if possible and in knowledge of other survivors positions , but if you dont want to risk losing your secured one survivor by the attack cooldown you get from hitting, you could also look for free chainsaw hits as the survivors prepare to unhook in group, because most survivors aren't skilled and calm enough to counter bubba camp. If you know for sure that the survivors are well cooperated , then yes, proceed with your instructions, otherwise I think that if you stand under hook and wait it might be really discouraging to saving hooked player, and if you play just a little bit with them, im certain you will profit way more.
