Each screenshot was taken on a female Paladin with the traits Gigantism and The One. I chose a hero with Gigantism as I felt the larger character made it easier to see what the different pieces of equipment looked like, and the other attributes allows the class's hair and bow to be seen as well.

In order to be able to buy and thus use equipment, you must first find the corresponding Blueprint. Blueprints can be found in Golden and Iron Chests (and very rarely ordinary Chests), and are never found in Fairy Chests. Golden Chests spawn after defeating minbosses (Botis, Barbatos & Amon, Stolas & Focalor, and Sallos), and Iron Chests can be found randomly throughout the world.

The blueprints found depend upon the player's level, the current area (for example higher tier equipment is generally found in the Land of Darkness compared to Castle Hamson) and the current playthrough. As such, it is extremely difficult to find the highest tier equipment without venturing into NG+ and beyond. Generally only equipment up to the Sky set is found in the first playthrough, with a hard exception being Golden Chests in a Secret Room spawned by Calypso's Compass.
