Eventually there is always going to be nuclear armageddon in any given game the key is to survive it. There are several approaches each of which are to be described here that can help you prevent such a catastrophe.

When seaching the bonuses for units I realized that nuclear bombs have evasion 50 which meant that it was possible to shoot them down however hard. Evasion 50 itself isnt hard to bypass when fighting off enemy aircraft but why facing off a nuclear weapon you need to shoot it down before it ever touches your cities. So when moving large armies or protecting key areas always include Mobile SAMs to block off disaster and if an opponet has reached nuclear arms before you dont rush to nukes yourself beeline for radio to gain anti aircraft guns and then move up to mobile SAM your only hope of anti-nuclear weapons. Fortunately the AI tends not to use nuclear missles in preference of atomic bombs which can be shot down.

On a side note the technologies listed have been changed in Brave New World.
For anit-aircraft guns the technology is electronics and for mobile SAM the technology is rocketry.

Another option to surviving nuclear warfare is to spread your army out and attack using small groups of artillery while delivering the final blow with a tank(they unlike every other unit at that point have 5 movement points). This strategy is good for making a quick advance of major and minor enemy cities but does not allow you to defend cities or take on an enemies capital.

The easiest if not most effective option is to so decimate the oponnets front lines that the enemy is on constant retreat and cannot shoot you down during their turn without risking an attack on another flank of their empire. This strategy is somewhat effective but not as good as the first option unless you have nuclear capabilities of your own in which you can play a very deadly form of tag. Have Fun!

When the enemy is on the offensive you can easily use submariens and destroyers to counteract any missle cruisers that may be heading towards you as well as harras the opposing army. This can save you lots of time and destroy any enemy heading your way but as soon as they get a city on your continent you will be fighting a lost cause.

Once you master the satellite technology you can see the entire map and best of all you can see what air units are garrisoned in cities so you can see where nukes are garrison and you will be able to capture or destroy the city using long ranged nuclear missles. This strategy allows you to strategically target his nuclear bases and to destroy nukes before they are ever launched.

There are 2 strategies to evade the enemy when using nukes using nuclear submriens is probally the best way when preparing for large scale invasion. When crossing oceans the safest strategy is probally to go under the ice tiles with your nuclear submariens making it impossible to take down withour submariens of your own and is hard to take it out even with your own subs because of the large bonus it has vs subs. The other strategy is to take one of the enemies cities and use it as a base to send your rockets flying.
