Instructions
  • Run the game at least once.

  • Go to C:\Users\[Your Accoun]\AppData\Local\Sunrider_4_The_Captains_Return\Localization. You will need to make hidden files visible in Windows Explorer to do this.

  • You will see a single file "English.ini" here. Duplicate that file by copy pasting it and rename it to the name of your language using ABC characters.

  • Open your .ini file.

  • You can customize your localization's text settings here. Replace "English" after global.opt_language= with your language in ABC characters. Replace "English" after global.text_fontsel= with the name of the font you want to use for your language. Three fonts are provided for you: "font_CJK.ttf" for Chinese and Korean. "font_Extended.ttf" for French, Spanish, and Russian and various other common languages. "font_Japanese.ttf" for Japanese.

  • If a font for your language is not there, you can try adding your own font into the game's install location and typing in the name of your font after global.text_fontsel=. Only .ttf fonts are supported. This feature is not guaranteed to work. Please let us know at: contact@loveinspace.net if your language is not covered by the provided fonts or if you need a font added to the game.

  • If you are working with an Asian language with no spaces in between characters, replace the "0.000000" following "global.text_asianlinebreak=" with "1"

  • Go to where Steam or GOG installed the game. You should see a number of .txt files beginning with "English_". Duplicate all files by copy pasting, then replace "English" in the file name with the name of your language you put after global.opt_language.

  • Open those files. You will see a lot of random text and numbers. The file is encoded is base64. Go to a base64 decoder website online and decode the files. Once the data is decoded, translate all the story and UI text in these files. DO NOT REPLACE ANY CODE TEXT. Take care not to add any letters to any of the code text, including " " or line breaks. Once you are done, re-encode your work in base64 and save your work.

  • Start the game, go to the language screen in the options menu, then pick your language from the drop down menu. Restart the game.

  • Once you're done, check out how your localization looks. Some variables are in the .ini you made in step 3 to adjust your font's appearance, like global.text_bigsize, global.hoffset, etc. The default values should work fine, but if you want to fine tune your mod's appearance, those variables are available to you.

global.text_bigsize: Size of big text. Keep near default value.
global.text_medsize: Size of medium text. Keep near default value.
global.text_smallsize: Size of small text. Keep near default value.
global.text_hoffset: Adjust the horizontal size of your font. Numbers between 0.9 to 1.1 recommended.
global.text_woffset: Adjust the vertical size of your font. Numbers between 0.9 to 1.1 recommended.
global.text_yoffset: Adjust the y position of your font. Numbers between -5 to 5 recommended.
global.text_xoffset: Adjust the x position of your font. Numbers between -5 to 5 recommended.
