Sending Bug Reports
If you encounter a game breaking bug, please send us a zip of your game's save folder along with a short description of the steps leading up to the bug occurring. The game's save folder is:
C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\LocalLow\Triple B Titles\Aces and Adventures
Please zip the save folder and send it as an attachment along with the bug description to the following email address: contact@triplebtitles.com

Please post your bug report in the #technical channel with @dev at the beginning of the message.
Game Crashes On Startup
1) If the game is stuck on the Splash Screen, but hasn't actually crashed out, please wait awhile to see if the game eventually proceeds beyond the Splash Screen. In rare cases, this wait may exceed one minute, but should become quicker on future launches.
2) Please find the following file in the game's install folder: ..\Steam\steamapps\common\Aces and Adventures\Aces and Adventures_Data\Plugins\x86_64\lib_burst_generated.dll and rename it to lib_burst_generated_bak.dll, then attempt to launch the game. If this doesn't fix the issue, go ahead and change the name of the file back to normal.
3) Disable Steam Overlay and launch the game again.
4) Please make sure your graphics driver is up to date.
5) Please make sure Windows is up to date.
6) Please make sure no antivirus software is preventing the game from running correctly.
7) Check if any third party software you are running might be interfering with the game.
8) If you were already on the latest graphics driver, it is possible that rolling back to a previous version may also fix the issue.
9) If the game still fails to run, please look at the section "Sending Bug Reports" above.
Soft Lock
If for whatever reason you find yourself soft locked in an adventure and restarting the game does not fix the issue, deleting your run's save data should fix the issue. Your run's save file is found in the following location: C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\LocalLow\Triple B Titles\Aces and Adventures\STEAM_USER_ID\Release\Profiles\Default\Run.bytes

Please disable Steam Cloud before running the game so the deleted file will not be downloaded from the cloud.
Black Screen
If your screen is flickering black intermittently, please try disabling the Bloom option in the Video Tab of the Options Menu.
Performance Settings
There are various Video Options which can be changed in order to improve the performance of the game. The following list is ordered by which options should have the biggest performance improvements when changed:
  • Quality Preset: Setting to Low Quality will significantly improve performance.
  • Resolution Scale %: Setting to about 90% will significantly improve performance with minimal image quality loss.
  • Volumetric Lighting: Disable to improve performance a significant amount.
  • Animated Lighting: Disable to improve performance a significant amount.
  • Resolution Scaling: When Resolution Scale % is at 100, running Fidelity FX Super Resolution actual comes at a performance cost, but results in a crisper image. Setting to None will improve performance a decent amount.
  • Foliage Quality: Set to "Off" to significantly improve performance of forest scene.
  • Multisample anti-aliasing: Set to "Off" to improve performance a decent amount.
  • Motion Blur: Disable to improve performance a decent amount.
  • Depth of Field: Disable to improve performance a decent amount.
  • Shadows: Disable to improve performance a decent amount.
  • Particle Quality: If performance problems occur when special effects are playing, lower this setting.
  • Ambient Occlusion: Disable to improve performance a small amount.
  • Bloom: Disable to improve performance a small amount. (Can also fix black screen issues)
Safe Mode Launch
If the game isn't getting passed the "Aces & Adventures" splash screen when you attempt to launch the game, then please attempt to launch the game in "Safe Mode" to see if that helps. To launch the game in safe mode hold the F8 key when you first see the splash screen until the splash screen fades away.

If the game still doesn't get passed the splash screen, please refer to the Sending Bug Reports section of this guide.

Renaming the DLL file worked to fix the issue for me.

Turning Depth of Field off also lets you actually see your health die when you're deciding whether to rest or level up.
