Basics of changing the colour of preinstalled car decals
We will start with the basics of changing the colour of preinstalled car decals.

1. Click Garage

2. Pick car you want to customise

3. Click upgrades

4. Click Customise

Here you have many choices to edit, but we want to edit the Vinyl's so
click vinyl.

Eveything in the left panel can be edited by clikcing on the chosen decal/color block
when you click on the first item within this panel you will get a yellow up arrow and
a yellow down arrow, these arrows allow you to move the order of items.

If you want to scroll the items in the left panel you hold the left mouse button and move up or down with the mouse.

So for example we will search for the "emulate" decal which is at the front of the car and then change the colour of the decal by clicking on it and then selecting a colour from the right colour panel.

You can chnage the color of parts of the car too, here I changed the front wing from green to black.

If thats the only change you want just click on the disk logo bottom left to save changes.

Note: Don't rotate the car after making a change or the decals will also move instaed If you want to make any further color changes to current decals then simply click on them in the left box and do the same as above, just cllicking a selected decal in the left box will auto rotate the car to the part you want to change.
Saving and uploading to the Workshop
Saving:

You will be asked for a save name, or you can use the default one, but it's better to choose a good name as it will save you from making name changes if you upload to the workshop later.

Uploading to the Workshop:

Uploading to the work shop is easy, you simply click on the steam logo in the bottom bar in the editing screen, this is of course assuming you have accepted steams EULA and workshop agreement, which most probably did when first creating a Steam account.
Creating new vinyls
First of all you might want to get rid of the cars default decals (don't worry you can get them back by simply loading them back in with the folder with arrow logo)

To start with a blank canvas simply click the page icon just right of the garbage can icon, it will tell you "This will clear all decals" click yes.

You might want to start with a particular color so click the back red "<" button top left and select "body" here you can select the color of the car you want.

Click back (top left) and go back to the vinyl editing screen.

To add a decal on the body click the "+" sign, then click the star button, keep clicking the star button (the button icon will change when you click it) until you have either decals, numbers or letters. Here I will add a named decal

Note: You can scroll between all the decals, numbers or letters by holding left mouse and moving left or right.

Here I pick SENDO and red color, note how it appears twice? that's because the car icon with the split is highlighted green so deselect it so it only appears once.

THE BUTTON ABOVE IS THE R with the flag under the yellow drop down arrow this buttons icon changes as you click trough it, it starts on a star, so I am referring to this as a star button even though it appears as a R button with a flag above.

You have different ways to put the icon onto whatever part of the car you want, you can hit the cam icon which will align the car into positions (top/side/back/front) or you can freely rotate the car by holding left mouse outside of the circle and moving it to whatever position you want, you can move the logo/decal by holding left mouse and moving within the circle.

To make the decal bigger click the window icon on the editing circle
To add it click the "+" button to remove it click the "-" button.

You will still have the SENDO decal selected even after adding it, simply to change to a new one click the star logo/changing icon button and click add again repeat the process this time we
will add it to the window, to do that clcik the car icon top right (under the hammer & wrench icon) and you will see a glass icon appear, move the logo over the glass and it will show, click the "+" button to add it.

Note: Don't forget to change the window icon back to the car icon by clicking on it otherwise any further decals added will only be seen on the windows and not the car.
Adding logos/decals to two sides at the same time
Adding a side logo and sending it to the other side at the same time

Click the car with the arrow icon then when you add a logo on one side it will also go to the other side.

Note: Sometimes the writing on the other side might be reversed so check after applying.
Adding and morphing shapes
Pick the block symbol and pick the block (or whatever shape you want) then you can make it thick or thin by selecting the following symbol then holding left mouse button and moving left up or right.

You can make the shape longer by selecting this symbol then holding left mouse button and moving up or down.

To make double shapes select the button with the broken line going through the car

Then hold the left mouse within the circle and move the mouse left or right this will bring the lines shape farther or closer together.

Hopefully this will help some people get to grips with the basics of creating car vinyls/decal degins in RR3.

If you found this guide helpful please leave a thumbs up etc.

@ Milt not AFAIK, there doesn't seem to be away to add custom decals unless the developer adds the option or someone makes a mod.

Is there a way to put your own decals in and if so whats the easiest method, as id like to make the actual decals for the cars as well as a manufactures badges.

@ Big Jim, if your looking for the button to change to National flags.letters or numbers it's the button here in this pic with the description "Select decals, numbers or letters"

@ Big Jim, if your referring to the "right ones" as the default car decals then you can find them in the folder just left of the save icon, explained at the start of this guides section titled "Creating new vinyls" if you want to change the national flag you need to change that in the profile, not covered in this guide.
Big Jim 31 Jan, 2023 @ 5:25am
where is the folder where I can exchange the wrong stickers for the right ones? Because the national flags are also true. According to your description, the wrong ones are still on it.
