Introduction
This guide will show you an extremely powerful Welles build which can easily beat the 4th map "Inner World" on turbo nightmare. With no items or drinks. And of course because this build works on the hardest map in the game, it works much better in the easier maps too.

Initially I was just going to post the video and write couple notes about it for you guys, but then I decided to write more detailed stuff about why I picked Welles and the weapons in the run.

I still recommend watching the beginning of the video from 00:17 to 03:17 for my weapon color and modifier pools, and permanent upgrades. If you are low on money and can't get all the upgrades I have, I've written must haves later in the guide.

If you have difficulties with movement and getting chests, watch some gameplay and see how I move and pace myself in order to survive and get weapons. The footage speaks more than words.
Video
Why Welles?
  • He has amazing perks with Hand Cannon, which is one of the best weapons in the game.

  • No recoil perk allows him to use Champagne, which is also one of the best weapons in the game once evolved.

  • NOTE!!! At least have the no recoil perk to use this build with Welles. More perks = better & easier.
Weapons
1) Blue Cannon aka "Icebreaker"

Notes:
  • Blue is the best Cannon evolve because of the projectiles, range, duration, pierce and dmg.
  • Speed & dodge passives are important because they help you survive the boss. One XP is good too because it helps you get weapons ready to evolve faster.
  • All the weapon modifiers are optimized. Always take these.
  • If you don't have "Shrapnel Buff" on Welles, replace one damage and count up with pierce and second duration.

How to use?
Just move however you want and let the projectiles bounce around the screen. You can turn towards the boss now and then, but be careful not to stay still for too long. Whenever you see its hands appear on the screen from below, start running up again.

2) Green Firefly aka "Flight of Bumble-Bee"

Notes:
  • Green is the best BURST DMG Firefly evolve. In this build it does the most dmg to the boss.
  • Shield and defense passives are must have. The boss can one shot you if your movement is bad, so these can save you.
  • These weapon modifiers are not optimized, but they work well. Anything which raises the weapon's dps is good because green firefly is all about burst dmg. You need at least one duration so the projectiles will reach the boss outside the screen.
  • I don't have experience with other evolves in this map. Green firefly is just too good.

How to use?
Just move however you want and the flies will home in to your target. When you are alone vs the boss, they will always fly towards it.

3) Purple Champagne aka "Intoxicating Beach"

Notes:
  • Basic Champagne before evolving is a horrible weapon because of its ridiculous recoil. But with Welles' "no recoil" perk and after evolving it, Champagne is one of the best weapons in the game. Massive aoe damage with every colored evolve = OP.
  • Purple Champagne is the best evolve in this map because you have to run away from the boss all the time. The huge poison puddles which it leaves behind hurt the boss a lot during the whole fight.
  • Always take one extra revive and temporary invincibility time after upgrade. This is your only purple weapon in an optimized build, so you'll need them. I have wrong picks in the screenshots, but more about that after this part.
  • These weapon modifiers are optimized. Always take these.
  • Never take other evolves in this map. You need the long timed poison puddles vs the boss.

How to use?
Leave puddles behind and let them do dmg to everything.

Now, important notice...

In the most optimal version of this build, you'd always get the Blue Lance and not the Purple Cat. Unfortunately in this demonstration run rng didn't favor me and I had to pick the Rocket Cat. Fortunately I have screenshots from another 4th map nightmare run where I did get the Blue Lance. I'll first talk about Blue Lance and then about the Purple Cat as a mediocre replacement for Lance.

4) Blue Lance aka "Evil Banisher"

Notes:
  • One of the most overpowered weapon evovles in the game, even when you're not using the Angel character. If you've ever used it, you know what's up.
  • Just like with the Cannon, speed and dodge are important in this run. They help you survive, especially the dodge if you're inside the boss' arms.
  • These weapon modifiers are almost optimized. Instead of three cooldowns you can swap in two damages. Both of them raise the weapon's dps so pick what you can.
  • With scatter 3, split into 2 and burn you can do massive screen wide aoe damage, even outside the screen to the boss.
  • Never take other evolves in this map. Blue Lance is the best dps lance.

How to use?
Auto targeting and laser go pew pew burn burn. When you're alone vs the boss, the weapon will always target the boss.

RNG sucked so Purple Cat

If your weapon choices sucked, you can also use Purple Cat because it leaves long duration damage clouds behind if it's able to work properly. The cat's targeting is garbage, so sometimes it just doesn't shoot even when the boss' arms are on top of it. But when it does shoot, it does some nice dmg. You need to have long range modifier in your pool and take it if you're going to pick the purple cat. Otherwise it's going to be pretty bad.
Permanent Upgrades
Yellow Statue

Everything helps you out greatly except for influence and money. This map is not for grinding those resources, so you can refund them for this run.

Red Statue

Everything except speed are a must have. Even the knockback stat because it helps you survive the last enemy waves before the one-on-one against the boss.

Blue Statue

Everything I have stats in are must have. Anything else is not needed, so you can refund them and use the money for better things. Pick Access to Interior if you hate yourself and love boredom.

If you have more permanent upgrades than I do, then you should have better time in the map. If you don't have enough money to get all the upgrades I have, that's ok because as you can see from the video, you can beat it with less upgrades.
Other notes
  • Because you have to be on the run all the time in this map, you have to be wise with getting XP and when to kill elites to get chests. Sometimes you have to play risky and dive inside the boss in order to get a weapon evolve. Be prepared to pay one revive for that if it's needed. Getting the chests can be challenging, but after watching the video and learning how to play this map, you'll get better and can do it.
  • When you are alone vs the boss, you need to be very careful about when you want to stand still and shoot towards the boss. When you see the hands appear at the bottom of the screen, be prepared to run instantly.
  • When the boss' hp bar doesn't go down, that means you are too far away from it. You HAVE to stop and let it catch up to you so that this build can do its magic.
  • Update; they added new weapons and pets to the game, making this guide kinda outdated. Nevertheless, this still works because they haven't made changes to the said map.

And that's about it for this guide. Remember that this is just one of the many ways to beat this very tedious and boring map. And most importantly, you can always improvise and do your own thing if you don't like my build.

Thank you for reading and watching. If you found this guide helpful, remember to rate it accordingly. Even if you hated it, slap some one stars to it.

@LunaRusaika

The guide was made during the game's 1.0 version with hotfix/QoL patches, so the overall difficulty curve of the game has changed. This used to be the hardest map of the game, but not anymore. Now there's also more weapons and they added pets which give you a huge advantage. So yeah, this guide is not that optimal anymore, but still works since they haven't made any changes to the map.

It's the easiest Nightmare map so far. Just have to run away from the boss while let the Firefly homing to do their job. I used Sheng Yu and Inner World Witch for the job ,guaranteed Bow or Firefly. And Green Fire Fly from the Witch is crazy. Pairing bow and Firefly together mean I don't have to worry about the other 2 random weapons.
