Intro
So, you just found a cool new animation mod. Maybe you found it through a YouTube video, maybe you found it yourself, maybe a friend recommended it to you. You have it all downloaded, then you think to yourself..."man, how do i put this in my game?" Fret not, for I have made this simple guide on how to add it in!
Back it all up!
First, you need to go to the files for Half-Life. The path should be "Program Files(x86)-Steam-steamapps-common-Half-Life." Make a new empty folder called "backup," then find the folders called valve, bshift, and gearbox and paste them in that folder. These contain the non-HD versions of the weapons and their animations. If your mod uses the HD models for its animations, back up the folders with the suffix "_hd." Now you're ready to add your animation pack in.
Adding the animations in
Now your mod should have folders also called bshift, gearbox, and valve. What you wanna do is copy them, paste them in the Half-Life folder, and click "replace" on the popup telling you there are files named the same. Launch Half-Life, and you should be good to go!

You don't have to replace the files. Instead, create a folder called valve_addon within the Half-Life directory (NOT the valve folder!), this is where you extract all of your custom content. Do note that this method requires you have "Enable Custom Content" enabled within the game options. In my opinion this method is a bit easier to do and you don't have to backup your files and keep track of which ones are custom and which ones are vanilla.
