By bigshacc2
this guide will tell you everything you need to know about brick rigs' unknown source of lag in multiplayer, and it will also give you steps to avoid said lag.

straight to the meat n' potatoes
what is it with this games' multiplayer and constantly just being american servers with little christian kids who have the most garbage fkn laptop specs to run the game

better yet
why does that have anything to do with the players including myself?

good question and i'll fkn tell you why
the multiplayer (as far as i remember hearing it from a friend a few years ago) runs on a peer to peer connection, which means that YOUR COMPUTER runs the server, instead of a different computer doing it.

this means that if YOU start lagging fps wise, the whole SERVER starts lagging fps wise.
what does that mean? how do i prevent it from happening?

here's what you do, make sure that you write this down

step 1: dont join servers that aren't based around a discord, especially if the servers are labelled anything like "serious rp" or "bricksville rp" because the chances of those server owners having a good computer are literally infinitesimal compared to the chances of a discord based server running well.

step 2: READ THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GAME, if you meet them? READ THE RECOMMENDED REQUIREMENTS.
if you meet them aswell? FKN READ THEM AGAIN.

step 3: please keep your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ vehicles under 1150 bricks, it causes unnecessary debris.

step 4: please stop using softbody vehicles
how do i (or can i) say all this?
because i've been around the brick rigs community and PLAYING the game since mid 2019, if there's anyone who can tell you how the game works, it would be someone like myself.

this information has been validated by my own experience, and experimentation with multiplayer servers.

thanks for reading, love ya.
cheers.

I hate discords, i host servers anyway, i have learned that even having a weak password keeps all trolls out, my password is written in the desc and it's "Password" and yet no one joins, this proves how many players are trolls

or even better, list your specs so ppl know what your limitations are

Tip 1: Don't spawn trailers are trucks.

Tip 2: Don't spawn mansion, it's not necessary to have such big house when there is like. . . 2 people in the server.

Tip 3: You can spawn city covers but just pin it so it doesn't explode and cause lag.

Tip 4: Don't spawn multiple things when you want to make your RP better, it cause A TONN of lag and people won't enjoy it experience.

Brick Rigs does use a host based peer to peer system, though not all calculations are done via the host. This is why a train that is driving along the tracks quite happily for one player may be glitching through the ground and lagging all over the place for another. This also explains how sometimes the host can be complaining about experiencing lag but other players are still at high FPS.

Lag due to glitch builds are caused by multiplayer desync, the person who is using the build likely sees nothing wrong and sometimes it is just one or two players that can see the creation glitching out. Trains, trailers, actuator suspensions, and soft body vehicles are the most likely things to cause this, but sometimes ordinary vehicles can do weird things for unknown reasons too. How good a players connection is (ping) seems to effect this aspect as well, with the players having less good connections being more likely to both experience lag and cause it via desync glitches.

In my experience the most common cause of lag (besides people doing it intentionally via lag generators) is through shear volume or an individual build being glitched.

By shear volume I mean the number of players combined with the amount of things they have spawned overwhelms the processing power of players computers or even the game engine itself.
