As far as I know, the developers did a lot of changes, specially engine changes. There was a point they decided to stop in a particular engine, UE 2, and from there they started to modify the engine. The game is considered to be between UE 2 and UE 3 (Basically UE 2.5).

Sure thing. And that actually makes sense about Bioshock and the earlier Splinter Cell games, since they went in development several years before release of UE3. Cool stuff though.
After some searching, I'm taking BioShock 1 and 2 out the list (they run on the Vengeance engine which is a heavy modified version of UE 2.5). Same with Splinter Cell Double Agent, Blacklist and Conviction (they run in the LEAD engine, another heavy modified UE 2.5). If you see any other game that doesn't fit, please let me know.
