Detective Tips: Impostor Chatting Habits
Impostors try to fly under the radar during meetings, or make themselves overly known. Here's some of the behaviors.

Impostors will stay quite most of the time if they are nervous. Call out quiet players and wait for a reaction.

Impostors, when called out, will viciously defend themselves more than any other player, because they have a win condition on the line. They will try desperately to convince players that they are a crewmate.

On the flip side, if it's a more experienced impostor, they will try to make sly and risky moves that players often accept anyways. For example, some impostors claim they were already cleared by a visual task, and people believe it without a second thought. Call them out on this, and ask who saw them do the visual task.

Impostors generally talk about things IRL, unrelated things, or have little jokes and things they say that aren't really related to the game. This usually gives them a friendly and uplifting tone, when they really want to stab you in the back. Take note of this chat behavior and mark them down as a suspect.
Detective Tips: Finding 1 Impostor
For all the detectives out there, here are some tips to finding out the impostors.

If there is 1 impostor, then you should be wary of all players that you come by. However, sticking in groups of 3 or more is a way to guarantee safety or win if the impostor is trying to kill you. This can allow you to start doing tasks in safety and find the impostor safely.

If you find a player suspicious, discreetly follow them wherever they go. When you reach corners, stop following them because they might try luring you into a trap. Travel with 2 or more people to eliminate this problem.

Watch players do tasks and follow them, even if they are long tasks like gasoline. If they do their tasks in an odd manner, then they may be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it. If they are moving after starting to do a task, and adjust their position, it's usually a sign of them being the impostor.

If a player has weird movement and does what I call the "Impostor Jiggle", where they hit A and D multiple times quickly, it can be a telltale sign that they are the impostor. If they commonly get stuck on walls and actively avoid travelling in groups, it can also show that they are the impostor.

Be wary of players and rooms, and if you think the impostor is in a room or someone is in danger in that room, go to a nearby area where you can see the vent in that room. If it opens in one room and opens in another room, simply go to the room where the impostor may have exited and look for whoever came from there.

If a player comes from an area and a body is reported from that area, it is them. This is a normal thing we all know.

If a player is commonly late to sabotages like reactor or oxygen, it's probably because they were searching for a victim throughout the sabotage and then come late to try to avoid being too "absent".

If players continuously stray from groups, they may be the impostor.
Detective Tips: Finding 2 Impostors
Unlike finding 1 impostor, finding 2 is harder.

Here are some telltale signs that one person is an impostor, or if 2 people are impostors.

Common behaviors of 2 impostors are to stray from each other to kill people independently. However, well coordinated impostors stick together for their kills. This means that you can find 2 players straying from each other, and then meeting up with each other with no problem. This happens with crewmates too, but seeing this behavior can also give you 2 people to be wary of.

2 impostors often try to clear each other, to make everyone believe they are both cleared. They will also say "___ did medbay scan, they're not impostor." Everyone believes it, impostors win and low and behold, the person who did medbay was an impostor, and so was the person who said the other impostor did medbay scan. What this means is that you need 3 people to clear, if there are only 2, that clear is invalid and you should still be wary of those 2.

Also employ tactics that you would use when finding 1 impostor to individual players or groups of players to find out if they are impostors, because regardless of how many impostors there are, tactics will still work when employed correctly.
Detective Tips: Finding Shapeshifter(s)
Shapeshifters are types of impostors that can turn into other players.

To find any number of shapeshifters, you should employ the same tactics that you would use to find a normal impostor, plus these:

Pay more attention to tasks people do. You're not going to catch a shapeshifter killing often, because they will try to frame someone else for the kill. However, shapeshifters mess up when it comes to ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tasks. They will often fake tasks and do it in a manner that is easily detectable.

When there is a body found in an area, don't look at the people in the immediate area, but the people in the area around the place the body was discovered. For example, if the body was in cafeteria, if I saw Blank coming from Upper Engine, they would be a prime suspect.

Listen closely. I believe you can hear people shapeshift, so when you hear that, immediately flee the area.

If someone is shifted as you, run for your dear life. I'm no psychologist, but human behavior and player gameplay analysis shows that when someone is shifted as you and they see you, they will try to kill you in specific. The reason for this is unknown, but it doesn't matter, because it means you have to run for your dear life if you see yourself running at yourself. (Confusing, I know.)

If you accuse someone, and that person is chasing you afterwards or if a shapeshifter is shifted as you and hunting you, it generally means you were correct and they want you dead before they get voted off. Use this information to run for dear life to the emergency meeting button and slam it, so you can share your findings and get the dub.
Detective Tips: Dealing with bogus crewmates
Whenever you're playing the game, you're interacting with the infamous idiots of Among Us. Since popularity has died down, more intelligent people (who have braincells) are in the community, but there are still groups of people who simply cannot understand basic english. These are NOT the same as bogus crewmates. These are idiots.

Bogus crewmates are those who do not apply critical thinking (or anything thinking) to their thought process and usually clear impostors on accident simply because the impostor was with them for 2 minutes.

To deal with these types of crewmates, you should first be sure that your quarry really is the impostor. If they are actually cleared, then the "bogus crewmate" is actually not a bogus crewmates. However, if you have confirmed they are the impostor, go ahead and provide challenging arguments. Ask them how they cleared that person, and them provide arguments on how the impostor is using them in their clearing, or whatever.

Argument examples:

[BG]: But <impostor> was with me the WHOLE time!

[You]: But they weren't. Common patterns show that impostors tend to stray from groups, and if they are partnering up, presumably to get cleared, they often stray for a moment, no less, to kill someone and then run back to their partner. This will get them an alibi and it is usually used by more skilled players.

The reason why an argument like this works is:
  • It's a long argument which has many details that are hard to argue in a short amount of time.
  • It's detailed, and if you employ tactics like tailing the impostor, and watching them, you can provide more evidence to further your claims.
  • Long paragraphs impress people in general, and the longer, the better, and the more people will blindly agree with you. Smarter players, when they read it, will also agree with you because it's valid information.
Detective Tips: Usage of Admin Table vs. Cameras
Many people often use cameras as their primary way to find impostors and catch them in the act. However, I personally use Admin Table a lot more. First, let me explain what each is and what they do.

Camera Monitors
Located in security, the monitors give access to view the security cameras. On skeld, they present 4 simultaneous camera recordings, while on Polus, have to scroll through the cameras. (Haven't played the other maps as much.)
The camera monitors will allow you to see everything in real time. When in use, the cameras will have a blinking red dot to indicate it's being used.

Admin Table
Located in admin, the admin table shows how many people are in any given room at any time. It has the same function on every map and is rarely used. No indication is given to show that it is active anywhere else on the map.

Using the admin table

It is a universal thing to go to the camera monitors to check for bodies and impostors. Admin Table is rarely used by anyone, everyone instead flocks to cameras. There is always 1 player in the lobby that will sit on the security cameras and watch for the entire game. EVERYONE, new players, old players, veterans, they all use security cameras.

However, the Admin Table has scored me more wins than the cams ever could. However, this requires good gamesense, and understanding of who is where, and it can also be frustrating or difficult to actually use properly.

To use the admin table, you first need to take note of people in your immediate area. If you're suspicious of someone, wait for them to go to admin, hop on the table, and then track them on the table. Watch if they go to cafeteria or if they go down to storage. Then, track them with your mouse until you have their presumable stopping point. If there is someone in an area for a long time at any given time, go investigate, because dead bodies show up on the admin table.

I have won many games by tracking suspicious people, going to where bodies were, taking note of their involvement, and then sharing my findings.

WARNING: Utilizing admin table like this requires proper GAMESENSE and clarity, as well as certainty, that the person you are tracking as not bamboozled you.
Detective Tips: Tracking Players
Getting ready to track players
When the round starts, settle on a player and watch which direction they go. Also make sure you watch how many other players go in that direction. Then, settle on a tracking method.

Tracking with Admin Table
Locate a player you would like to track. Make sure they have just started a task (fake or not) or that they are nearby, that way they don't leave the room before you get to Admin, and then head to the Admin Table. Then, wait for the person in that room (the person you are tracking) leaves, and then wait for the nearest room to get a person in it. Then, track them on the Admin Table until you are unsure if they are actually in that room. Then, leave Admin and go check the room. Once confirmed that your target is in that room, run back to Admin.

Admin Table tracking is most effective when your mark is the only one on that side of the map. If there are multiple people in the room, you may need to confirm it is indeed that person in that room, because you could end up tracking the wrong person if you mix up two people.

Tracking with Cameras
Head to Security, and wait for your target to appear on the cameras. You can make an approximate guess on their location. This method is not very useful as you can only see the player in 4 specific locations (on the Skeld, at least.) and the target can purposefully avoid the cameras.

Tracking players by following them
This method is called trailing.
Settle on a target, and follow them from a discreet distance for the entire round. If they stop, then backpedal. If they turn around and start chasing you, run for your life. This method is the riskiest, but it can let you catch them directly in the act. If you are with another person or several other people, you can track them without worry.

Always follow a good pace behind, and if you reach corners, wait for a bit before going back to following them. If you lose them, check the Security Monitors and the Admin Table to try and relocate them.
General Crewmate Tip: Saving Visual Tasks
Visual Tasks are one of the only surefire ways to prove that someone is clear. They are the special tasks that people ask others to watch, the ones you can see in real time.

The Visual Tasks
  • Medbay Scan
  • Trash Chute
  • Clear Asteroids/Weapons
  • Prime Shields

Visual tasks are pretty much like other tasks, in basic functions. They can only be done by crewmates. This means that people have an easy way to clear people and make sure they are a crewmate.

If you are a crewmate, many rookies often do their visual tasks as soon as possible, just like their other tasks. However, I must point out, winning by tasks is a rare sight that usually never happens. This means you should just save your visual task until mid-game, where you can ask people to watch your, or you can save it for when your in a pickle and you need to get cleared, fast.

Do not waste your visual tasks, because sometimes they are a lifeline and a way to avoid getting voted off.
General Crewmate Tip: How to ensure that you do not die
Travelling in groups
If you have 1 impostor, go in groups of 2. If there are 2 impostors, go in groups of 3 or 4.

When in a group, the Impostor will be unable to kill you without exposing themself and losing, so generally players will avoid killing anyone in groups or joining any groups. If you travel in groups, you are safe.

Travelling with cleared players
When travelling in a group, you get double the safety when travelling with cleared people.
Engineer Tips
Generally try to let people know you are the engineer, unless you believe that the lobby will stupidly retaliate against you for it. Do this at the start of the game for the best chances. If they accept you are the Engineer, then you will be perfectly okay to start venting to your tasks and venting across the map.

If there is an engineer, people who act as a detective should take notice that venting isn't proper evidence anymore, unless all engineers have their roles established.

If someone else other than you is claiming to be engineer, and you are the sole engineer, then call them out for it.
Scientist Tips
Use Vitals and Admin Table to find where people are dead at, or alive at. If there is an unchanging body in say, Navigation, you should look in Navigation and report the body that is there.

I don't have many tips for the Scientist, because it's a very simple role that has a simple premise.
Guardian Angel Tips
Follow the impostor(s) everywhere they go. If they are approaching a lone crewmate, then cast the protection on that crewmate and hope they get to the emergency meet button.

Guardian Angel doesn't have much to do, other than save crewmates and do their tasks. Your main goal is to anticipate the Impostor's move and pre-emptively try to save crewmates with the information you gather.
Impostor Tips
If you're the impostor, you need to act sneaky and stay low.

Stay visible to others, but also disappear in the shadows. Try to stay with someone for a while, briefly leave and kill someone, and go back to that person. They will generally clear you, thinking that "Oh, they didn't kill me and I was with them the WHOLE ROUND!" However, this shortsight will get you a clearing and you will have much better chances.

If there are 2 impostors, try to clear each other. People don't often question 2 people clearing each other, and it can be the perfect cover to force the blame onto innocents.

Try to stay quiet unless you are directly mentioned. Pipe up every now and then with jokes, unrelated topics, and little tid-bits so you seem active in chat, but you really aren't.

If able to, kill anyone who has been cleared. This is a risky move, however if they stray from groups and go places alone, try to kill them and run off without being caught. Killing cleared players causes fear and confusion.
Shapeshifter Tips
If you're the shapeshifter, try to find spots to hide in and shift. When shifted, be ruthless and kill everyone you see. You have no repercussions. Don't get caught shifting.

Also try to make yourself prominent and known, and walk around ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tasks often. This will give off the impression that you are around the map, when you're actually shifted and about to get another kill.

Make sure you familiarize yourself with the tasks crewmates have. Many shapeshifters mess up because they do not put their full effort into ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tasks, or they do not have the necessary skills to fake tasks. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tasks is usually how most shapeshifters get caught, in contrast to them killing.

Ensure that when you shapeshift, nobody sees you go to the area you go to shapeshift. People do not have to directly see you shift to deduct that you went into that room alone, and someone else left. This can result in you being caught, so keep up charades and don't be seen.
What to avoid
Crewmates
Detective Tips
Don't act rude when giving explanations or try to fool other players by giving false information. However, at the same time, try to keep the players on edge and exaggerate reports to make the situation seem more dire and the argument more stable. If you're rude, players may ignore your argument. If your argument is full of holes, it can get debunked and you may be accused.

General Crewmate Tips
Don't throw around fake task accusations unless you are sure that that person ♥♥♥♥♥ a task. There are many times I have been voted out for absolutely no reason other than some deadbeat moron thinking I ♥♥♥♥♥ a task. Try to explain how you are innocent in-depth when accused, and provide good reasoning. Do not simply say "Not me, no, your lying" because that will get you nowhere. Ask for proof and evidence before making a counter-argument.

Impostor Tips
Don't fake visual tasks. This is just a dumb move and it will land you in space. Don't fake tasks that are not tasks (this has happened a lot, it's quite funny actually) because you may get called out for it. When ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tasks, do not leave before the task bar goes up. If you wait for the task bar to go up, then leave, you are cleared because there is no way to check if it was you or someone else who did that task.

When stalking victims, ensure your not being tailed and that your victim is actually alone. After making a kill, flee the scene as soon as possible. If you were seen going in the direction of the victim, then make sure you try to keep the body obscured for as long as possible. If you know someone is coming that saw you go that direction, self report, and lie. If someone else was recently in the area, you can get caught, so make sure that your target was completely and utterly alone.

Don't kill or vent on a camera location. If it were to suddenly turn on during a kill, you would be screwed. Make sure nobody is in security by checking admin or by verifying, and be cautious when making kills.
Hide n' Seek Tips
Time to delve into some tips on the new gamemode, HnS.
Basics
Hide and Seek is a special gamemode where your only objective is to survive and complete your tasks. The impostor is revealed from the start, and you cannot report bodies nor call emergency meetings. There is limited vision, you can only see what your flashlight allows (use your mouse to control your flashlight.) All crewmates can vent, while the impostor can't. Crewmates have limited venting time and limited amount of venting.

There are 2 roles, no more than that. No special roles. Only the Seeker, and the Hider. The hiders need to survive until the timer runs out, and the seeker has to kill every single crewmate.

Crewmates have a danger meter on the top left of their screen, which rises the closer the impostor gets. The crewmates can use this to their advantage to run away the higher it gets. The meter does not point out where the impostor is coming from, only that they are in a radius of the player.

The Impostor has a 1 second kill cooldown and they can hunt down every player with it. When they reach a certain amount of kills, they gain the Seek ability which gives them remote access to the admin table wherever they go, allowing them to see if there are people inside of any given room. When the first timer runs out, "Final Hide" begins, where every few seconds a ping occurs, where the crewmate's position is exposed. Once Final Hide ends, the game is won by the crewmates.

If everyone dies, the Impostor wins.
Crewmate Tips
Winning Hide & Seek as a Crewmate can be difficult. Usually, you end up dying, and you only win by a shave since that one guy didn't die out of everyone else in the lobby. These are some tips that can help you be that one guy who didn't die out of everyone else in the lobby.

Hides
Your hides are your lifeline and get-out-of-jail free card. They are your code red, they are your escape pod. Do not waste them. Use them when absolutely necessary, and conserve them as much as possible. Depending on the host, you may have many, you may have very little. But if you have any, then use them wisely, because it can be life or death.

Location/Positioning
Where you are located and where you go are vital parts of what decides on whether you lose or win. The Impostor will search the entire map over and over again, and this means you need a solid position that you can flee from and get away easily from.

The best spot for this is admin. The Impostor only has 2 ways to get to you, and there is a vent in admin. You also have the admin table, which can show you player positions. The vent also makes it a lengthy trek for the impostor, and they have to anticipate your next move, while you need to anticipate theirs and try to find another way to get back to admin or a way to get to the other side of the map. The Impostor also has to find out which vent you went to, which makes it a much more challenging thing for the Impostor to find and kill you.

Doing Tasks
Tasks are the riskiest part of this gamemode. At any time, you can be cornered. This is why you need to conserve your hides, and always find an area where you can vent. If you are stuck in a task where you cannot vent, you must pay close attention to the alert meter, and if it rises AT ALL, you should stop the task by hitting Esc and start to run to the nearest vent, just in case.

If you need to, do all the quick and safe tasks and don't do any of the long and risky ones. Sure, this will be a risky move too, because it gives the impostor more time to hunt you down, but you may die anyways if you attempt the task. However, if you are able to, always try to complete your tasks. Once you are done with your tasks, start to position yourself somewhere good, like the Admin hallway.

Hiding
Don't hide. Despite it being in the name of the gamemode, any good hiding spots are generally well known and checked by Impostors. If you need to hide, pick an area near a vent so you can vent when you eventually get into a pickle. Make sure you are quick to vent, because it can be a matter of winning the game or losing it.
Impostor Tips
Usually, crewmates tend to win games of Hide and Seek, simply due to the fact that it can be easy to evade the Impostor sometimes. Here are some strategies to quickly hunt down and kill players.

Patrolling Storage and Cafeteria
If you patrol the middle of the map, you can catch people on their way to tasks. This should be done VERY early game to rack up kills, and is not a good long-term idea because crewmates can simply wait you out.

Checking areas near vents
People tend to try and stand on vents so they can hide whenever you get near. If you patrol these areas, you can get people to pre-emptively use up all their hides and get the advantage.

Utilizing the Seek Ability
When you get the Seek Ability, use it to your full advantage. Check it consistently, because it will give away player locations and allow you easy kills. Using the Seek Ability, you can kill everyone before Final Hide starts.

Checking corners and hiding spots
Everyone does this already, but I might as well add it here. Use your flashlight beam to check corners and tight spots where players hide. New players often end up hiding instead of doing tasks, and this can score you easy kills.
The End!
Thanks for reading. I might add more tips. Make sure to give a like if this helped, and comment if I need to make any changes.

If this majorly improved your gameplay, leave a comment telling me how, and if I should add any more tips.
Bonus: Why I made this guide and what it aims to achieve
Something I noticed is that no guide I have found actually gives detailed paragraphs and information, only basic things most experienced players know. Most guides just talk about how impostors fake tasks, how to spot it, basic surface-level things about the roles, and then they end there. There is a guide that provided good info, but not much about subtle things that can help you win as crewmates and be a cool detective guy.

This guide aims to provide a guide for the more experienced players on how to end the game quickly by vote. The tips I here have all been tested and used in games, with an over 50-70% success rate when applied. Very few times, there are isolated incidents where some dude's keyboard has pepsi in it and he's impostor jiggling all around the map and he's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tasks and the whole nine-yards. However, it is quite easy, once these tips are applied, to find the impostor.
