Part 1: Enabling The Console

The Easiest way to enable the developer console is this: Go to your game library, right click left 4 dead, click set launch options and then copy and paste this into it. -console Press this button under Esc to open it in the game It looks like this ` or this ~.

Part 2: Fog Commands

Once you have loaded the map, you need to open the console with ~. once you do that, type sv_cheats 1. after that, enter the 3 following commands in this order: Fog_override 1 Fog_enable 0 Fog_enableskybox 0

for the commenter that posted a comment here in 2018 and definetly will not find out i responded to them, is works in any source game, not just left 4 dead

If the before tutorial doesn't work, then use a cvar forcer sourcemod plugin on your server and have it enforce those commands. (might not work anymore due to flag restriction changes).

Host a dedicated server on your PC and forward the ports, or rent a server from a game server provider. Install sourcemod and metamod, give yourself administrator on sourcemod (this all takes a very short time, except for download a local server files from Valve of course). Then connect to the server and use the commands:

sm_cvar Fog_override 1
sm_cvar Fog_enable 0
sm_cvar Fog_enableskybox 0

Alternatively to automate this, put the above commands inside of your server.cfg file in the '\cfg\' folder of your dedicated server's installation. If you rent a server from a game server provider there might be a command console on their website to do it, or they might supply you an FTP login and FTP port number; in that case just download a free FTP client and you can connect to your server's files. Then just go into the \cfg\ folder and put those commands inside server.cfg.

Once again, if server.cfg does not exist, just create it.
